Is there anything you’ve worn and regretted?

Style is ever evolving so I don't regret anything I've worn because it's all about learning from mistakes.  but I have to say I very regret I had worn a tight jean, it is really awkward I thought, I just worn it for one day then I thrown it!

I've never been in this situation. I tried on tight jeans at a shop 4+ years ago, and I never liked them from the beginning. Tight pants are horrible, not only does it feel like someone is holding on to your legs, but they look stupid. But, I don't remember ever regretting wearing anything, I don't wear or purchase anything I'm not 100% sure on.

  • 1 year later...

I get a facepalm-feeling when I see some of my old pics from the 80ies. I mean the clothes are nice (some silky pastel shirts) and the hairstyles are ok but the glasses are horrible. Eyeglasses back then were friggin' huge. I so get it when people say pictures should be taken without the glasses.....

Aw man, you guys!  Tight jeans (Levi's specifically) are always in style!  I prefer the light stonewash or black ones.  Even Sonny wore his tight Levi's in Season 5, but I don't like holes in them...

I just regret buying and wearing the actual "skinny" jeans which are usually part spandex.  They look like tights just about.  I also gag at low-rise pants or flared/bootcut jeans, but I wore them a couple of years ago.  Straight leg always looks better or if they taper a little bit at the bottom.

Pants should fit at the waist!  Anywhere around the bellybutton or a little lower is fine.  That's the important thing.  For a short bit in middle school I wore my pants sagged down. :( I wanted to fit in.

It happened to me, but it's been very rare. I usually think well before to buy. This doesn't keep you from doing mistakes of course, especially when you're young and you are still looking for "your style". But at 53 I should have found it, right?

Andrew, I always had a pair of torn jeans with holes, I still wear 'em with a pair of white (or colored) Converse sneakers.

with the glasses try the new wayfarers, as they redesigned them and fitted them to be a better fit for new faces.

and my own topic on the matter

http://miamiviceonline.com/index.php/topic/11593-a-guide-to-getting-the-right-sunglass-style-for-you/

however I would recommend going for the smallest size of the new wayfarers 10 months on, the 52 18's not the 55's  and do not go for a tortus shell, the light shines through in certain areas around the edge, so aim for a matt black if you can, and there is this to think of

as because of this right now I am thinking of maybe going for a wrap around square in a similar style persol wise, as you still have light reflecting in on the bigger wayfarer on the sides, I do not know if that is the case with the larger ones or the smaller ones however.

so if you go to try them on check the sides and how much light gets past them and from behind, although in my case I was getting away from the nose pads of the other glasses I have, as that kind of stuff just irritates my nose.

and look for color correction on the polarized stuff if you can, it might be worth the extra money.

but I might be closer to a 19mm nose bridge than an 18, and while I dont think the old wayfarers worked on me, I think the nose bridge is bigger and might work on me better.

Style wise my personal regret is trying out a very light blue, like the color of Tubb's caddie and purples, as it stuck out against the dark colors I like, and that's the thing, if you like dark colors like I do you can still vice it up, but they all have to be dark shades of them.

hell its part of the reason why I prefer the pilot look, those seem to be very close to the kinda things I'd wear, Black T shirt, unbuttoned dark blue overshirt and maybe not white pants

the number one thing I would say is dont buy something just because someone wore it if you dont feel comforatble in it

however there is virtues in experementing and broadening your horizons like some day I'd rather get this than the Ebel

but overall if you dont like something, dont force youself to like it, one size shoe is not going to fit another persons foot after all, especially when your size 14 like me

After thinking about it, yes I have worn clothing I have regretted.  Most of the time I am my own self and wear what I like.  But a few times my wife had me wear clothes I hated.  She bought an ugly Hawaiian shirt for me and I protested wearing it.  Of course all you married guys know it is difficult to win against the woman of the house.   I love Hawaiian shirts but this one shirt is disgustingly ugly and I am looking forward to it disappearing from my closet.

I regret quite a lot of things I have worn...I regret wearing this long leather trench coat I had, I wore it with a white shirt, grey chino's and a tie, but I regret it personally, the long leather coat wasn't good on me, normal leather jackets are and I'm always wearing those, but the long leather trench coat, never again.

Hell yes, I remember those ugly plaid pants,  bell bottoms,  super wide collar shirts,  and platform shoes.

heh you oughta take a look at this

turns out Driver Parralel lines was dead on I guess

and fashion is an odd thing, you have to remember with any sort of youth theres always a period of figuring out what works, and new people want to be heard so they do something drastically different, they get old and it changes to a subdued or different version based on how it was taken in and how well it survived the novelty phase, then rinse and repeat based on the changes in how things are made, kinda like an industrial revolution really.

after all wool coats were the prefered thing because of how well they worked with water back in the fictional days of sherlock, and as times changed, the needs changed based on the local.

and to top it off you could be wearing this in 2030 and no one would really think its from 1986

gallery_471_5_16235.jpg

while NBC did this bit featuring none of the S3 looks

even though a good number of those could work nowadays, like 0:25, 0:41 - 0:49, 0:57, 58, 1:22 which is more or less the burn notice look

although NOT 1:01

and that is the very nature of fashion, someone stepping out trying to do something different, and we reap the rewards because someone else is doing the hard work of inovating, its kind of like it raises the water level that the boats sit in.

Yep, I do regret some choices, like baggy pants, crotch almost around my knees, and oversized tees with rather shrill allover-prints. I thought this was great in the 90s. Now I think everybody sporting that style looked like he was caught while jerking off.

I still have a knack for a more "urban" or hip-hop-oriented style of clothing, though, but it's rather a toned-down interpretation of what was good back in the 80s - shell toe Adidas, suede Pumas, fat laces, basic track suits, some late 80s shoe models, which have become classics over the years, even white Sergio Tacchini Tennis suits or "Le Coq sportif", who were a short fad in the late 80s.

I don't that much instances, where I can wear stuff like and still feel comfortable in it, I must admit.

I don't know, if this is true, but Karl Lagerfeld is reported to say something like "The moment you wear track pants in public, you have given up on life."

I wouldn't generalise it that way, but nevertheless, there's something to it, when you see some people in their sloppy outfits at the supermarket. You can look like "high-maintenance" and "dressed with purpose" in clothes like these, but it obviously doesn't work for everybody. You still need to have at least some fashion sense to pull this through.

I love old-school Adidas!  I wear my all-white shelltoes (Superstar IIs) quite often when I wear jeans.  I also have white with navy stripes Adidas Dragons and black with white stripes Sambas.

Never been a fan of Lagerfeld, but he can be right, which is the case here. IMO workout clothes belong in a gym or when doing workout (running etc.) and not as fashion. From what I hear from american online friends, USA is bad in this regard. Luckily we europeans havn't picked up this fashion faux pas.

Ok, my own fashion mistakes.... as a teenager, I once wore shirts with heavy western style influence, ofcourse tucked down into my jeans. Yikes, luckily it was a short time. I've also once worn a couple of Affliction/Ed Hardy t shirts. Threw them out quickly after discovering the douchebag truth behind the brands.

So I've given up on life everytime I go around the block late at night to do some stargazing according to Karl lol but that is a good point with the overdressed thing

its all a matter of comfort, hell you see the same thing happen in the car world with polished paint jobs, people dont feel comfortable driving around in them as they pull in too much attention, and possibly the wrong attention via the vincet vega rule, hence why the in thing is to go with matt or satin colors and beadblasted parts ala something out of Fury Road,

or the new rat rods thing that is catching on again.

and that was the thing about vice and its time period, your in florida, hot weather, and bright colors everywhere, its just the nature of a tropical enviroment, you dress based in the climate your in and the amount of attention you want.
