Fast 7

Is anybody else looking forward to this film?

I'll be seeing it at midnight with some friends the first day out, and I'm just really looking forward to it.

I always loved this franchise even when it wasn't doing very well with Tokyo Drift, but now 7 will connect with that! And sadly this one is Paul Walkers last film.. :/

I also once heard that 2 Fast 2 Furious was inspired by a Season 2 episode of Miami Vice, which I can really well see, Undercover cops posing as racers, big drug lord who lives in a nice house, and has a boat etc... Paul and Tyreese being the cops and set in Miami.

Which episode do you think it was inspired by?

But, anyway Fast 7 is going to be great and it won't be the last one :)

YES! I am very much looking forward to it. Been my favourite movie franchise since the first one came out in 2001. Might go on the weekend with my brother to watch it, because we watched the last one in "Gold Class", and he's been asking me if I wanna go again. Seen them all at the movies since Tokyo Drift.

2 Fast 2 Furious was definitely inspired by Miami Vice, and as I always say, it was a better Miami Vice movie than the actual Miami Vice movie.  Paul Walker being Crockett, and Tyrese being Tubbs.
I don't think it's based on any episode in particular, but a mixture of things to create their own Vice.

I was actually just about to watch it now, I think you reminded me. I watched the first one yesterday, going to watch 2F2F today, then 4 tomorrow, 5 after that, then 6, then Tokyo Drift, then 7 at the movies. Because that's story order.

RIP Paul Walker. :(

The Great McCarthy comes to my mind but it is Season 1 episode

Hmm honestly my biggest exposure to this has been through the Mighty Car Mods Channel, The aficinato and Tomcat here who have been covering some fast and furious stuff as of late, as I'm not too much of a fan of the movies

but the Raid Dodge Charger does look cool, and I am a mopar man primarily, as I was first exposed to Don and the Cuda through that,

and trust me, the 71 Cuda lives up to its looks in real life.

So  I can atleast lach on to that from it, plus the second movie there in Miami did expose me to Don Yenko's work,

as before that I had never heard of Don Yenko with that special camaro,  as he was the maniac who put a 427 in essentally a Gremlin size car with a chevy nova.

and now all they need is a Baldwin Motion 454 Chevelle yet, and something made by Mr Norm.

Being an avid "Pistonhead" I enjoyed some of the series. The first one I saw at the theatre and lost my stuff when I yelled out loud when the Charger pulled a wheellie!( I get exited easily I suppose?) The people in the theatre laughed...

The second one was ok but typical series type, but I found the tunnel scenes in the mountain cartoonish, however Tokyo Drift was appaulingly boring!

I found five interesting and the story line was good and the stunts were also ok.

Just watched six again yesterday and it was alright except for the 37 mile long runway on the military base for the Russian plane???????????????  (really?) I was right into the story line until that unbelievable bit.

Lets hope seven is good and the series can go out with a bang. I will go to the theatre and pay the second mortgage to see it on  the big screen.

I just hope I am not let down with a weak plot and video game graphics of car scenes again. I am so sick of CGI!

I saw "Need for speed" at the theatre a few months ago and just bought the dvd. I heard an interview with Arron Paul on CBC and he explained he was not keen on doing the movie at first because he had seen all of the Fast movies. The producers assured him that all the stunts would be shot for real and he got to do his own driving, just like Steve McQueen in "Bullitt" so he signed on. It was a pretty good movie too!

Yeah, some CGI stunts in the latest movies are over the top. But apparently in the new one, they actually did drop cars out of a plane, I thought it was fake at first, but they done a behind the scenes video.

By the way, the tunnel scene was the 4th one, not 2F2F!

I feel like I should check out the Need for Speed movie, being a slight fan of the original video games, I was hesitant to because video game movies never do very well (Examples: Max Payne, Hitman etc..I mean I enjoy them and love the shoutouts to the game series and seeing the characters on screen, but they never live up or remain faithful to the original video game, they're thinking of Doing Kane and Lynch with Bruce Willis as Kane, and Jamie Foxx as Lynch (what sense does that make? Lynch was a 40 something old angry white guy who looked a lot like Waingrow from Heat) ) but it seems like NFS is it's own little story, I do like Aaron Paul as well (Breaking Bad, what else?)  I felt like at first it was trying to copy Fast, but I should no doubt check it out.

And yes, let's hope Fast 7 does amazing, I feel like it's going to be a hit.

I'm surprised you haven't yet. NFS movie is fantastic! It exceeded my expectations. I thought it was just going to be some cheesy flick and wasn't planning to watch it, but I was bored one night and decided to watch it and it was actually pretty good.

Dakota Johnson is in it too.

I  have to admit that the Charger was the only reason I went to see the 1st movie (and sorry, but a car cannot pull a wheelie and smoke the tires at the same time!)  2nd movie was so so but to me it jumped the shark from 3 on.

I don't know about that. I saw something on Facebook some months ago which showed a car doing a wheelie and smoking the tyres at the same time. It was like a meme thing showing that it's actually possible.

I'll try find it tomorrow if I remember, it's late here and I'm on a mobile device.

Plus, on Street Outlaws the fastest guys like Big Chief can lift the front wheels off the ground on the street with some wheel spin. They don't smoke the tyres though.

I know wheelies are caused by torque, and the rear wheels gripping onto the ground and pushing the front up. But it doesn't mean you need 100% grip...

Been into drag racing for over 50 years.  Trust me it's not possible.  You can do one or the other but not both at the same time.  It's good old hollywood magic.  The only way even remotely possible is for a car to smoke the tires and then hook up and lift the front wheels off the ground.

That charger is iconic! I think it's back in 7 truly, it wasn't in 6 because of Dom getting a new Plymouth Superbird, but even that got destroyed.

You know what gets me though is the wreck of that charger in that first film, the car itself last I heard was sitting on a movie backlot with the destroyed front suspension it got from the jump still unrepaired, and the thing was just sitting there covered in dust

as they did a follow up on what happened to it in 2004 in Mopar Muscle

and its last film credit was in a Linsey Lohan film of all things in 2006 as a background wreck in the junkyard, that love bug film she did. plus what Finn said here when getting the general Mayhem together about the F bomb they used at 1:32

hence why I'm abit iffy about the film series, I mean yeah it had a moment of glory, but god damn it dont wreck a 70', that my Favorite year of the chargers damn it

I  have to admit that the Charger was the only reason I went to see the 1st movie (and sorry, but a car cannot pull a wheelie and smoke the tires at the same time!)  2nd movie was so so but to me it jumped the shark from 3 on.

its an old movie trick apparently, they just put bleach on the wheels, and it smokes like crazy without buring the tires up. kinda like how they simulated scratches on the chase cars in skyfall with some chalk to keep the continuity rigged up right

and also Detective they had two versions of the superbird, the superbird and the daytona, one uses a roadrunner as the basis, the other a dodge charger, and they made two versions of the daytona technically

and all it is is an aerodynamic kit for the car more or less, prompting people to make recreations as of late it seems

vs the geniune article

although apparently not with the motor that brought them to 200 MPH, although I dont know how much of this is hearsay and BS.

Well, this isn't the video I was looking for, but it'll do. See about half track, it smokes the tires and still lifts the front up.

I agree with Ferrariman! I was an automotive teacher for over twenty years and a mechanic for over fourty. My students always thought it was cool when a car squeeled it's tires until I sat them down in the classroom and showed them the formulation of an actual launch of a vehicle from a dead start. I used to build race cars back in the 70's and 80's and built frames from the ground up. I explained to them that "burnouts" are just a "loss of traction" Tires are supposed to grip the ground not roll over it creating friction and heat and smoke from that heat! My race car I ran back in the 80's at Cayuga Speedway used old Cooper tires that I ran at 8psi. I never went in the burnout pits as I drove around them to line up to the xmas tree. When the lights went off, I would sidestep the clutch at around 4500rpm and my tires would just "bark" and the car would literally launch! My doorslammer did a reputable 14.2/103mph, with a hole-shot averging .012-.015 all day long on street legal tires and a vertigate shifter. My friend was in the stands one time and took a fabulous picture of my car launching off the line as my left front tire was off the ground about three inches. Unfortunately I twisted the car that day and had to scrap the body after that. I was running only a meager 425hp but my gear ratio was too high with 4:30's and it twisted my driveshaft too! Had to get a custom one built with thick wall construction seamless tube after that.

Running street cars with too much pony power obviously needed to be up-beat in many aspects...

JUST CAME BACK FROM THE MOVIE!

My honest opinion: The movie is fantastic, but a little bit lacking, but the ending is one of the most loveliest tear jerking tributes you could ever see in a movie, I won't spoil it for you, but it's simply amazing.

I'm glad they're going to continue the series.

I might go later or tomorrow. I kind of want to finish my marathon by watching Tokyo Drift first. A friend of mine says "It can't be described with words", made me more excited to go see it.

Edit: Going on Sunday.

I hope you enjoy it - is the last one !?

I don't think so, Fast 8 and 9 are confirmed, Vin said that 7 is the start of a new trilogy..not sure if it was a joke or not since it was posted on April Fools, but Vin said Fast 8 is heading to New York.

Before Paul's death they said they were going to do at least 10. After 7 was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy, going back to the street racing roots. But I don't know now that Paul's gone... They might do a couple more, but it won't be the same.

Another mistake they made was killing off Vince in Fast 5, because the Vince character could have filled in the missing spot. I haven't seen the movie yet, but maybe Sean Boswell can be Toretto's new street racing buddy. Maybe they can bring Jesse and Leon back, Jesse got shot but they never mentioned whether he died, so it leaves the slot open for a return.

I just watched it and WOW! The end hit me right in the feels. I haven't gotten so teary since I was like 5.

I've had family and friends pass away, even one of my best friends from school died while street racing. But I barely cried at all, but this... This really got to me, I felt like vomiting at the end too. It was a lot to take in.

It's been a year and a half, but I feel like the movie was his official send-off. We can finally say farewell to the man who inspired millions of car enthusiasts around the world. He was my hero, as I have just come to realise.

Reminds me of when I was 10 and my pals and I used to have sleepovers and watch the first two movies and stay up late.

Furious 7 was a great movie as they all are, lots of action, race wars, danger to manifold. All that good stuff. But the ending/tribute to Paul was the icing on the cake. It was the most beautiful most human thing I have ever seen in a movie.

They could end the whole series right then and there, and nobody in the world would mind.

Or they could continue and focus the story on Dom and Letty.

One thing which disappointed me was ***spoiler** Sean Boswell (Tokyo Drift) was only on screen for about 30 seconds. I was hoping he had a bigger role. They didn't even tell us who won the race. :(

10/10 movie. But I'll have to wait for a DVD release to watch it again properly to give it a proper rating. Because every movie is a 10 when you see it at the theatre.

RIP Paul Walker.
