I would rather watch a 30 year old tv show, than watch "reality" crap thats on, plus Vice was ahead of its time.....

Amen, to that !

The problem is, MV86, most people are forgetting there was a series called Miami Vice........If it's not advertised or played on TV, it is no longer in the public's eye.

Good point, Tony.  I have the DVDs for S1-3, but have been watching the series on Hulu and NBC.com.  Hopefully if many of us are watching on the venues that are broadcasting or streaming it, the powers that be will realize there is still interest in the show.

I'd argue against this. A lot of younger people are aware of Miami Vice even if they don't actively watch it. Young people love its aesthetic, its cars, fashion, the Miami atmosphere, etc. Especially now that the Synthwave movement is so in

Us young people are attracted to organised crime, and drug deals. :/ The cars, fashion, music, and setting are just bonuses.

Well I can see where you would say that because who hasn't heard of Miami Vice but considering the show is 30+ years old a lot of younger people don't have a clue, a lot of my friends are like what's Miami Vice. There's not enough hours in the day to explain to them what Miami Vice is....

Young people may be aware of Miami Vice, but how can they watch it......unless someone gave them the DVDs or they saw it on youtube?

You have a good point Tony. How would I even have notice the show, the way I did, if it hadn't been displayed on some media. In my case television.

All these social medias such as facebook, instagram, twitter etc are good ways of keeping Miami Vice alive 30 years after it aired and make people out there aware, that this show exist. But all of this can't be possible, without the fans love for the show, without their contribution.

As you said yourself, it has to be in the publics eyes one way or the other, to get noticed and that is so true.

Developing love for the show doesn't necessarily happen, by it being out there on television or Netflix, but it's a good start and a good way of introducing the newer, younger generation to the show. But it's hard not to fall in love with the show and Don Johnson.

A little off-topic but since I've been watching S1 on NBC.com I've noticed that commercial breaks are often inserted somewhat arbitrarily!  The ep will cut to a commercial during a scene and when it comes back on after 159 seconds or whatever, the scene is still playing.  After a second or two the "natural" screen break and scene change appears (where you just know a commercial was originally located!).  I know the shows are streamed to make money and would expect this choppiness on Hulu, etc. but on NBC.com I would have thought they would have taken more care with their own product.

Even if the commercial breaks are longer to bring in more revenue, it would be nice if they stuck to the original scene breaks instead of truncating a scene and then finishing up the last 1-2 seconds after the commercial.  After all, this was broadcast TV and commercial breaks were built in and planned for.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  The only reason I preferred watching the episodes on NBC rather than Hulu is that one can notice a substantial difference in video quality; the images are remastered (where there are not the random lines and dots that appear in recorded films; it's especially noticeable on the Miami Vice intro) and the hues are slightly richer unlike with Hulu.

Interestingly, the NBC website only has seasons 1-4 and just recently Hulu does as well, but before this September, on Hulu one could see seasons 2-5 for free, and season 1 needed a Hulu Plus membership.  Now neither one shows season 5.  ?(
