The Car thread

I thought this was a rather interesting sort of development in the car world, the first real look at the new MX 5, and its from a video game

this being from the forza series, of which has had the new ford GT rigged up as its cover car for the next game in the series, Forza 6

and its kind of an interesting evolution of how cars are marketed toward the younger generations, as Leno has frequently made mention of songs like Spring Little Cobra, 409 and so on and so forth from the 1960's

the most famous being wilson pickets mustang sally I would wadger

and now its spilled over into videogames, although in that game they still cant get the countach right

the worlds most famous car and they cant get the bodywork right lol

I have always been interested in the Miata although it's just called the MX5 now. The 16 version is reportedly going to be 200 pounds lighter, an inch closer to the ground to improve wind resistance and won't be offered with a retractable hard top at first. I think the inch closer to the ground is a mistake for us Baby Boomers with bad knees. I have never own one although I have driven a few. I am glad it will receive a little more horsepower. That and the weight reduction should improve performance.

Since Daytona replicas are hard to come by, I might be considering a W126 Mercedes with an AMG bodykit... Like what 90% of the drug dealers drove.

This one looks really maaaaaad.

4978465649_30f4609589_z.jpg

The thing about these older Merc's is that you can pick one up really cheap now, and it's still a luxury car. The hard part is finding a bodykit.

Hmm it could be possible to source the bodykit parts from the JDM Crowd, as they love to stick flares on everything, also maybe this would be the beast for you

as he only paid about 5 grand for it about half a decade ago

and they do hotrod them in germany.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_300SEL_6.3

although I do think that youngman had that AMG like merc in addition to his daytona that he sold to fund the purchase of a home awhile back, and it was a dead ringer for the one from the Dennis Farina episode.

Not really in the market for a classic Benz. But it is a very cool car nonetheless. I've seen that video, I've been subscribed to Jay Leno's Garage for a long time now.

ah, nah I was just kind of stunned at what he said about the thing, as I had never paid the V8's any quarter in the merc line up

outside of that AMG black they had on Top Gear, along with the super station wagen they came out with

I mean a 1970 to 1974 Firebird with a 455 toping out at a 112, while this thing goes sailing onto a 140 + mph, and they supposedly both have 300 HP? I think they probably lied by about a 150 HP then

When you top out, that usually means your ratios are too short and you're hitting the limiter. Old muscle cars were made for the 1/4 mile, not top speed. That and technology has changed a lot in 40 years.

70 - 74 Firebird is up there as one of my dream cars to own. Someday... Someday.

ah... I've never been too good at understanding the gear ratio's honestly, as I usually pay quite abit more attention to the engine than the gears, so its probably that and the compression ratio, which had to be lowered for unleaded gas if it was a post 1971 model, as the lead in those motors acted as a shock absorber, and thus less lead, the less pounding it could take, and then the metalurgy would need to be upped for the pounding to reach the old levels of power and octane, and namely all that pounding is in the valves

as you used to be able to get 101 and 108 octane on the streets back in the 1960's, nowadays that would be race gas, and just imagine how much lead that needed vs say normal 87 nowadays.

and I do really like the 455 monster that they had in MCQ

and Year one did a modern version of that to go on along with the Bandits Trans Am special they did

although I do know that the countach was a 0 to a 100 in 10 seconds car, above that the aerodynamics slowed it down pretty bad at 120 even though the QV was packing 500 HP in a time when a 302 Thunderbird V8 was a 130.

also evidently my disdain of what they're doing recently with that company is not limited to me apparently, although I am looking forward to seeing how the new LM002 factors in along with the Atom thing.

https://twitter.com/harrismonkey/status/582825164578152448

but they need more motors and less computers and less of this

as otherwise it will just be a copy of the Countach till the end of time, and its starting to get to the point that I'm resenting the countach because of it, even though Chrystler had the good sense to start fresh and make something cool and different after the thing, while Winkleman just remakes it.

like this guy talks about with the Volvo

as its funny its because of the alfa 8C's flaws that I found it far more interesting than the Lambos, just like he talked about in that one.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just wanted to post this up as I've been noticing this more and more, its really the little touches that set designs off

for instance the first example is the lamborghini miura, a concept car for the road using the then new midengined layout from Lotus as its forefront selling point

800px-Magnificent_Miura._%289783003392%2

P400

800px-Lamborghini_Miura_P400_%2816405556

SV

but by all accounts it was an engineering disaster, mostly from complications that arose from putting the engine across the car rather than from front to back, but visually it was a trend setter, and even as an engineering disaster, the amount of pasion and design that was put into it made it worth it for all who owned it.

and naturally that makes it endeering to me and alot of other people, its kind of like the 427 Cobra, everyone loves the concept of a concept with no holds barred as it flares up the imagination and creates further dreams from its existance.

such as the viper to the cobra, the countach to the miura, the Diablo to the Testarossa, and movie wise the Killing to Reservior Dogs apparently.

so regardless of its failings its a living embodyment its better to have loved and lost than not loved at all, unless you look at your account book that is, althought that only comes into play if that wasnt fun or interesting enough to keep you going, as nothing is free in life anyhow, as its either someones time or money, or both.

however I noticed as it got older and the design was changed, some of them seem almost downright bland in the face of the car that's standardized its looks, the lamborghini gallardo

800px-Yellow_Lamborghini_Gallardo_edit2.

and the more and more I've thought of that high production car standardizing the looks of the miura, a low production work of art, the angrier I've gotten at it for exisitng, that and its drivetrain, 4 wheel drive and a downsized V10 engine, that I just cant shake the feeling of that it came from the viper and was genericized to be boring.

and I could atleast forgive the 4 wheel drive system if it was an option.

and its much like the S type of its kind to the Mark 2 Jag in a way

1024px-1964_Jaguar_-_Flickr_-_111_Emerge

800px-Jaguar_S-Type_front_20090128.jpg

although the Mark 2 is different enough that it has been unaffected by this, the miura with its lack of chrome is not so lucky, as back then everything had chrome so being without it was considered advanced, nowadays its the flipside.

however that's where the design cues come in, the smaller tires and eyelashes of the earlier models

800px-Wolfsburg_Jun_2012_121_%28Autostad

a P400, pre S, really set it off, this is the car I saw in germany in 2000 before its restoration FYI, as at that point it was a faded yellow and missing the nose badge as someone had stolen it off of it at autostadt, note how inward the tires and rims are and how much nicer that looks than the below car.

Lamborghini_Miura_P400SV.jpg

a P400 SV, More Frog lipped, and frog colored, the lowerhalf of the nose was reworked to a new design, probably because of crash protection reasons, and the rear tires and rims were widened to stick out from the design, also note that the style of the eye lashes were not carried over to the headlamps, leaving an odd stylistic gap between the grates over the filler cap of the nose and the headlamps, and sadly my kyosho model was based off of this rather than the P400, and in lobster orange.

and dont buy 1:18 kyosho's if you can help it, every single one of them had problems. and sadly I paid full price on one of them, never again!

1:18 kyosho Countach Walter Wolf, blue 120, screwed up paint job and the windshield glue came undone, bodywork design wise I did like it, but I unexpectedly hated the shade of blue it came in.

1:18 kyosho Miura SV, 70 from torronto motorsports, fitting issues with the clamshell on the rear, would not sit properly, I had to unscrewed it and modify it to fit properly, and I thought i would like it more than I did

and the 1:18 kyosho testarossa, miami vice version, 200 + 20 shipping, steering wheel was out of alignment, the paint on the headlight had chipped off from ill fitting and there was what looked to be a glue mark on the dash I had managed to get off

and along with the general design being off, the hood and trunk not fitting well and sitting too high I really didnt like it that much, and I think it spoiled the testarossa for me for awhile after I got it, and made me resent the design and the car for awhile.

and these were all brand new models, especially the last one.

so dont buy kyosho 1:18 if you can help it, if you have to have one, inspect every inch of it possible beforehand.

but however the above design changes really set them off from the crowd, along with the Jota Model in general, as there is a reason why the early version and the SV Jota are the most coveted

800px-Lamborghini_miura_svj_spider_4808.

and rightfully so, and you can see here, much like the early P400 and P400 S, this keeps the same theme throught, while the SV was more just an attempt to fix and change the design to work better, mostly in the mechanicals

as the P400 and P400 S both had shared oil pans, where the oil for the transmision and engine were the same, and thus under hard cornering it was possible that the amount of area between them would cause the fluid to shift along with the center of gravity

and the SV changed that and switched over to a dry sump system, amongst other things, like I said, the car was an engineering disaster, but a lovable one that with due time, dillgence and work can eventually be worked out and enjoyed without issue.

such as replacing the carborators with german ones off of a porsche 917 instead of the webbers, electric cooling fans and such and so, as I've found in my searches for more information about these cars.

these being my two key ones, the second one not so much

http://www.lambomiura.com/

http://www.themotoringenthusiast.com/cars/featured/index/history

http://www.themotoringenthusiast.com/cars/featured/index/restolog

and here are some images to die for, note the car behind it

http://www.themotoringenthusiast.com/cars/featured/index/restolog/lamborghini-miura-s-restoration-log-25

as I do generally love the Miura, Just not the SV or the S ones that arent rigged up right, and I just hate the Gallardo for sort of stealing its fire and the engine of the viper for its own ends in my mind, as it just doesnt do anything special with them, just sells them.

although it is funny, they loose that framework for that and the Muricalago/ Armadillio and this is what they produce?

17071234765_7ae501fbbc_b.jpg

a car that looks like its been pre crashed under a truck or run into a wall, and let me guess, winkleman told a a german to design what he thought a lamborghini would look like right?

so much like what happened here when clarkson told them to design a new E type

has happened here

and that is what happens when you get tied down to an idea instead of just being creative with an idea, your doomed to repeat it.

rather than be inspired by it like here

800px-Al_Tayer_Motors%27_Opens_New_Jagua

and that car is a mixture of the latter E type and the more modern cars they've made since then

a particular favorite of mine included, the pre uglification of XKR, the pure 1990's one

but however if you just tell them to go nuts without boundaries and a good man at the wheel, and they make the porsche 918, so its all down to the leadership, and winklemann needs to go. not the head of VW or Porsche, Porsche and VW are fine,

and dont make the fans go jesus what happened, and that magnus is an old school guy too, hell put the head of porsche in control of lambo, as he made the 918, which is something lambo would of made in the old days.

hell they nearly bankrupted themselves making this

and they would never do that nowadays.

anyways next up I will do the Current version of the dodge charger.

let it be said I'm not a fair man, I can understand liking this car but from a design standpoint, I just want to go up to its nose, Push it in and pull it up, namely so its nose is at the same height as its headlamps, either that or pull it out.

put the countach spoiler on it, and put a V12 in it.

clap off the 4 on the sticker, put her to two wheel drive or have it be as dynamic as it is here with the Merc at 1:07, although, start at 105:53

and put in either an auto or a subquental gearbox, one or the other, no inbetween. either be full on auto or full on manual without having to worry about putting it in the wrong gear, like on a paddle shifter, but with a clutch.

then I could really bite into it as a lambo, although after watching the video, if they've gotten it sounding like that, maybe it doesnt need a V12.

but I must beg to differer with Harry about the aventador, someone put one next to a countach, and my eye never left the old girl

and the blue one just looked like an overglorified volkswaggen to me, but then again that might be down to the early volkswaggen like rims doing that for me.

and the countach is a hotrod that just so happens to be italian, featuring a V12 instead of a V8, and is downright a monster and a man's car of a car,  think of it as an italian 1932 ford with a blower, or the 55' for that matter,  the kind of thing you'd see the tough guy in american graffiti driving

aventador, not so much if at all, it just seems like a soft mans supercar

countach, the exact opposite, as the engine reminds you its there, and that's the key, the countach is all engine, nothing else, nothing more, and it didnt even have power windows until 1989, roll down windows, heavy ones, from 1974 till Chrystler bought the company.

and you just dont see that, that much anymore from that company really, although from what he said in the video it sounds like that might be turning around.

while the Koenigsegg (even though I'm not a fan as they use the same bodywork over and over and its killed its novelty,)

and I'm still waiting on them to make this

https://www.flickr.com/photos/55725185@N06/8371572015

and they are in a hanger of an old aircraft squadron, so its not like they wouldnt have that lying around somewhere lol

the P1, La Ferrari, and the 918 all follow that formula. engine and drivetrain first, rest latter.

but maybe that car is a step in the right direction, but with the Gallardo I always thought they nicked the v10 of the viper and made it worse and less interesting, so maybe they got it right here.

I just hope the nose gets redone and they switch it to a proper gearbox like that subsiquental one with a clutch and a 2 wheel drive one, as all that plus maybe an optional countach wing, and then they've really got something.

that and changing the name on some of their cars, Urutus? huircain, is it that or huriKHAANNNN! Egotistica? and who writes these bloody names?!

although asterion, its odd but atleast pronouncable and unironic, given what its tied to

and I actually like the car, although I was initally under the impression it was a front engined car again, and the miura wheels just skeletonized are a nice touch'

also sorry about the guys pants, I think he must have been color blind, but this is the front end that car, the cain' should have had it seems.

but why not just call those other cars something italian for Kamakazi Machine, hell the corvette is named after a boat after all, and ferrari got his famous prancing horse badge off of a fighter pilots aircraft.

hell why not name it after some famous italian racing driver like Brambilla here

http://www.lambomiura.com/acq.htm

and they even gave him his own paint color after all, so its not like it wouldnt be lamborghini to do something like that.

Oh my God... I love American Graffiti, my favourite ever movie. And Milner's '32 is my dream car. <3

I know most people here dream of owning a Daytona, but for me, I'd rather have that '32.

Hey everyones idea of paradise is different, hell one of the roadkill guys lusted after the 55' in that video

for me what left an impresson on me as a kid was a 1971 Cuda, shaker hood, black, black billboards, orange paint, spoiler and dog dish hubcaps and drag radials at a local car show.

with or without a black top and the slots on the back, I just cant remember

https://www.flickr.com/photos/scott597/5377725715

https://www.flickr.com/photos/patrik_karlsson/6169031407

I think it was with as that looks better, also this is pretty bad ass

https://www.flickr.com/photos/kensclassics/6227155594

So I've always been a mopar man, and GM given their spotty reputation and my bad experences with their workforce and their lack of quality, customer care and general half assery

always kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, as in the business daily paper I found that they admited to making their cars fall apart around 80,000 miles in 2004, and to be truthful, I think they lied about that and they really ment 30, as that's when one of mine started falling apart.

so before the daytona replica and what it was became known to me, I was a mopar and porsche man

as both companies when they say were going to do something, they do it, and it doesnt fall apart in 3 weeks, as most of the RT/10's that werent crashed are still around and working, and so will the 918, god what a crazy mother that machine is.

and chrystler was an engineering company primarily, somewhat like Porsche really, Military Generatiors and Air Conditioning, hell that's where the HEMI came in, as they used to use Hemi Motors to generate electricity for military bases back in the 1950's, and they always ran, plus the air con was something else on the top of the lines back in 1966' as I remember my dad fondly saying that with the New Yorker, a 6 grand car he bought new, it was like driving your living room on wheels, in perfect comfort through Nevada.

plus the caddie dealer turned him away just because he was wearing a flannel shirt, and blantetly ignored him even though he was with his mother and had a check for 6G right in his pocket, so that didnt help my opinion of them, as originally he was going to buy a 66' caddie, brand new, and got turned away.

which makes me wonder if Will Smith was rich and had tried to buy the 63' back then from MIB 3, would they have done the same thing to him as well? although that might have been more the salesmens fault than GM really.

gm however just kind of passes the time, atlhough the corvette does seem to be the exception to the rule, which is why I'm making an allowances for it even though I think the former management of GM can go to hell for being a bunch of cheap ass bastards, I mean atleast lamborghini had an excuse in the 1970's, as they were out of money and just used what they had,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAe6m62s_c4

listen to what he says about the mechanicals specifically, they used a metric and a non mentric part on the same thing there, as that's all that they had in the parts bin, also gotta love that green on that baby. someone needs to put a countach in that.

as I can respect that, that is how the viper was made actually, just use what you have and make the best of it, but when you have all the money in the world and half ass it, that's different.

hell the 1996 was still using the door handles of the 1970's GM cars, same thing with the Tilt wheel, hence why you heard leno scoff at it in that rustbucket hotrod they did a few weeks ago, the ZR 1 powered one.

as they never change a damn thing until they have to, no ambition whatsoever to do anything special. and the outter door handle broke too, I had to figure out a special way to open the thing.

its just the daytona, specifically the replica, as I kind of find the normal versions of the daytona somewhat boring, although I do like box flares and flares on it now weirdly that I've studdied the design more

https://www.flickr.com/photos/smallmind/12074311384

https://www.flickr.com/photos/smallmind/12074540756

https://www.flickr.com/photos/lassy1975/5708115522

and the countach are the exception to the rule for me with the no exotics thing, as as much as I've learned and appreciated italian cars over the years, my routes are always in muscle cars, as chances are if you put a fancy Miura next to a cuda, I'd probably take the cuda after taking the miura out for a test drive just to see what its like.

although a testarossa with a new front bumper though, that would be a hard choice as the testa seems to be a combination of a Countach, Turbo Lotus and Daytona in a menage trois

https://www.flickr.com/photos/j_fotografia/6158744497

the best of the classic wedge designs pretty much, and the interior is completely bespoked, something GM would never do, hell they reused the chevy impala steering wheel in the last ZR1 actually, and god I hate green digital readouts, white on black, or black on white, not green, as green always looks like crap.

and god that 512 M bumper just completely changes the look of that car, I just wish someone could cut the lower half out and put the original versions lower spoiler on to complete the look and integrate it into the original style of the car, that and removing the black inserts on the rear bumper to make it flush, and maybe thin out the start of the air intake covers at the front.

but god does that thing look SO Much better with that bumper on it, I've never seen a bumper change the cars looks that drastically before, but it does, my god it does lol now it just needs to be in Nero Daytona with a Creama interior, Dark Tobaso Highlights and a rust colored carpet and it'd be perfect.

as those were the original color choices for the testarossa, and while white works, nero just blows it out of the water in cool factor.

well technically this is the first of two times, as the Ferrari California's redesign changes it so drastically, as it goes from a Kharma Ghia to a Ferrari with that bumper change.

also this is the perfect color combo for a Countach, it just needs the standard mirrors, maybe and maybe a wing and its perfect

and thus well I also have a soft spot for BMW's and AMG's as their more or less german Muscle cars, just with a higher level of quality, thought and finish, hell I started looking for a 1/18 scale of that BMW M5 that tiff had in that video right after it really, as I remembered liking the car in hot pursuit 2

its just that for some reason in that game the cars feel so slow below a 190 MPH.

but that is what pulled me in about the daytona and the countach, it was so out of my comfort zone, hence why over indudging in them if its out of your comfort zone can be a bad thing, it shifts your comfort zone into something that your heart may not be a 100% into.

I mean I kind of prefer roadkills cars to any exotic they put out on the motor trend shows, as they have charachter, style and a general just bash me kind of inviiting style to them.

and exotics and italian cars because of their nature over here you cant, despite well, them doing the exact same thing in time period with them.

also my father knew a guy in italy at the rod and gun club back in the 1960's who had the same thing in that video above, a lamborghini with a race car chauffeur, green too, dont know if it was the famous miura though, although he seldom drove the thing, the driver did. and that is a REAL 250 California there too! before it was worth 30 million, just another old car.

I guess the guy knew, you gotsta know your limitations

gotta love the citroen headlights there too.

its one of those funny little things about life, something that was so worthless at one point, is now quite the opposite, and thus it never gets enjoyed, and I half wonder if some of these exotic car videos where an exotic car is damaged is staged just to create outrage and pull in views and ad revenue, such as that one about someone bump parking a lambo 4 times, a gallardo though.

and to also shame people into not having them, kinda like highschool group think that hasnt ended sadly, one of the disadvantages of the internet era really, atlhough atleast this is optional.

Hmm looks like proper stock car racing is alive and well in England

for those not in the know nascar started out literally using stock cars like this, except I dont think they were quite this stripped out and safe. and nowadays nascar might as well be a prototype series for all it has in common with the street cars.

but you gotta love the Tiff Nidel spin out and the other drivers recovery, as I doubt you'd really see this on this side of the atlantic, now if only we could have this kind of stuff in the US, along with rally racing.

also its interesting to see what kind of tail happyness the early 911's really had like this vs the front engined V8's there, its kind of the ultimate duplicity and demonstration of why they caught people unaware like they did, hence the reputation they had and still have to this day.

V8 understeer/oversteer to oversteer/understeer with the straight 6, all hanging out of the ass of the car, kinda like a reverse 427 Cobra really.

also that is one brave little mini at 7:40

and its alot of tail happyness, but it looks like its the kind of controllable tail happyness, rather than snap away tail happness in action, and I can see how this threw my dad off and made him NOT want to go for the 911 all those years ago, instead opting for the forerunner of the Boxster, the 914

as in his words, it gradually started to slide out underneath him with a weight shift on the autobahn at 80 mph around a bend, kinda like the one this bentley goes around, except at 80

and you can see them doing that in the video, but nowadays well that's what the wide tires are for, to retard that action and give you more grip, but also back then the 911, well she is far bigger than what she used to be, much like the modern mini

original-1964-porsche-911-and-the-type-9

as if you dont have a place to get used to it like this, and your used to cars like this

9755576564_c47ff405d6_b.jpg

9755358381_0e2cf86fa5_b.jpg

to that tiny tail happy thing, its going to throw you through a loop until you get used to it, and one of the base workers found that out the hardway, ended up in hospital for 6 months after taking a test drive. as he met up with a tree in the german forest.

Teaser for the new Need for Speed game. Didn't know where to post this so I chose The Car Thread.

Working with SpeedHunters: http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/05/need-for-speed-is-reborn-and-were-helping/

I'm pretty hyped for this, they say they're starting over because lets be honest - the recent NFS games have been horrible, designed for 10 year old kids.

But now they're starting over and becoming more mature (proven by how the voice in the video says the F word), which is a good sign for the series because the original games were designed for more mature people, mid-late teens and older.

This one kind of has that Underground feel to it, it's night time and the roads are wet, just like Underground, but there's also some Midnight Club to it. And half of the cars aren't drifting, which is also a good sign, it means they aren't going down that childish route anymore.

And LA, night time, cops... It has a Fast and The Furious feel to it.  I wonder if this could be Underground 3 and they just haven't revealed the name yet.

They said they're going to reveal all in a month from now, I hope I'm not disappointed. I haven't gotten an NFS game since Undercover came out and was terrible. But it's been going downhill since Most Wanted.

But it's very refreshing to see that they're trying something new for the series. Authentic street racing is what the series needs after all these years. And I used to love the NFS games of the 90's and early 00's.

No worries its ment as a catch all thread for cars, and theres this to think of

granted he's... well you'll see.

and Its kind of funny actually as until recently back in the day I only played up to about underground 1, and then I stopped, however recently I did endevour to play Underground 2, Most Wanted and Carbon

and bar none carbon was the worst of the 3 and where it started to go down hill for me it seemed, although the soundtrack in most wanted compaired to the underground games was balls, I mean I loved the soundtrack of the first two games and I have some of the songs

and carbon was better in that respect.

seriously no Miami Vice fan has set a TR fan or series video to that yet?

But still in carbon the first thing they do is kill your checkov's gun, the BMW M3, which cross keyed in most wanted, something I would think a cop can be fired for on the spot considering he did that on camera, his squad cars camera.

(also why cant you change the color of the striping in Most wanted?) and the customization system had a nasty bug in it where if you pulled out to try a new style of such and so it would reset on the PS2

and those cutscenes.......... good god lol fist in mouth stupidity at its finest, worst part, it took them 3 years to put muscle cars in the games, and hotchkiss and the modernization of those cars started years ago really.

not to say they didnt handle and stop if you had the right setup back then with the torsion bars back then, but still, they had a hotrodded 1970 in the first fast movie back in what, 2000? your telling me there was no muscle cars rolling around to eat some imports for breakfast lol

hell they had that happen in germany back in the day with the GI's as someone imported a GTO to germany and raced some BMW's with them and a charger, and a 1971 Hemi cuda convertible ended up in france of all places.

found in some garage in 2002 in mopar magazine, complete with the yellow french headlamps too.

but that rubberband AI, that rubberband AI back then was unacceptable, if that's back it will kill it, along with the nitro

as I had to purposely take out the AI just to win so many times, and I cant tell you how many times in hotpursuit 2 and most wanted I was yelling you god damn Nitro F**kers! F**K off! when the catch up/rubber band activated

seriously play one race on hard with that turned off and take a look at how far back they are, as it seemed to be a minimal of 6 seconds atleast, but with it on, their right on your bumpers

But anyways what I think they need is muscle cars back, less story protagonists on Prozac, seriously what the hell was with that guy in Rivals?!, I was like what?! no nitro unless its being used by a blower with phase 4 heads under it

and with preferably the fury road version of that car in there somewhere, seriously with the mods he did to the front bumper did he visit this thread when I made that point years ago about that it could use some updating?

med_gallery_471_5_54051.jpg

mind you this bumper was not my work, but it really needed that kind of bumper ramer thing on it to protect its nose under action and he did make the nose out of metal, rather than fiberglass like in the original movies, like I suggested hence why it fell apart like a deck of cards in the second movie, which makes far more sense for a cop car and I'm really happy he did that.

but anyways back on topic and enough of my swooning over the interceptor, and seeing it again in fury road but George if your reading this

theres still an interceptor out there that is still around, so please put this in the next one

http://madmaxmovies.com/mad-max/mad-max-cars/max-yellow-xb-interceptor-sedan/index.html

as we never knew what happened to this one, and its one of the few four dours that's really badass on its own. or the rest of the other pursuit specials like that holden in the first movie.

but the new NFS, it needs either very reduced rubberband AI or none, which would require alot of programing but your telling me you cant just mimic in a human driving the cars 6 times over? one aggresive, one not and such and so?

also how sweet would it be to have this in an NFS game

complete with a bumper stick on it that says in proper commando wordage, I eat Imports for breakfast!

oh also speaking of imports this came up on the radar a few days ago about the inital D car

Yes, everybody tends to agree that Most Wanted was the last good one, and it went downhill for there. I found this article on GameSpot saying that sales have been doing downhill, which is most probably the reason behind starting over and trying a new approach.

I was playing Underground 1 yesterday after first seeing the trailer, it's always nice to relive your childhood a little. :p

I was going to type something else but I've forgotten what...

thing is though that two things stayed constant with all of them, the rubber band AI and rushed production scheduels, as I remember seeing them just rinse and repeating like half of the competeitors in the Run towards the end, that cannonball run like game they came out with a few years ago

now if that had been done proper with more set pieces like this

and far less rubberband AI, it could have been a classic in the making, its past situation kind of reminds me of the same thing Take 2 did to a game series that I loved, the Mafia City of Lost Heaven Series here, where they have all this cool stuff in the trailers and then it delivers on hardly any of it

which is part of the reason why I didnt really buy into tomcat's swooning there, but it all remainds to be seen how good the game is

also theres rumors that their doing a Mafia 3 at this E3 2015, although sadly the Voice Actor or Ernst Kelly, who also played the Don in the original game died before the second game came out, so I must wonder if maybe they had to rework it based on that more than anything.

as you do actually go to prison in Mafia 2, where you might have been originally ment to meet up with Saleri.

but regardless the production time on this was about double the usual amount, and I'm glad they got rid of the burnout people, as I never really liked that series of games. I mean that style of game has its place, but not in a normal racing game, its far more suited for something like carmageddon.

so its all to be seen just how good the game is, I just hope its not cut up in the name of DLC like Warner Brothers has been doing with alot of their games as of late

or what 2K games did to Mafia 2 there. as I was seriously looking forward to driving around Empire Bay in a 1950's Ferrari Superamerican, and then no dice.

well it looks like EA wants to kil the franchise I guess, as this just poped up

and they tried this two times with NFS already, motor city online in the 2000's and NFS online a few years ago, both have been reduced to notless footnotes in the history of the NFS franchise.

and look what it did for SimCity

as a sidenote if this guys voice sounds familiar, he did a killer duke nukem impression for Gas Guzzlers Extreme

Wow, that's disappointing. But the whole gaming industry is ruined because of "always online", and the multiplayer features being a main priority, and the fact that they release half a game to make a ton of money off downloadable content.

Everyone is so paranoid about piracy these days. What they should do is - make ONLY the PC version have DRM because that's the #1 platform for pirated games, nobody has hacked into the PS4 and XBox One consoles, so they shouldn't be worrying about piracy on those.

Online DRM is horrible, because if the servers are down, you cannot play the game which YOU PURCHASED. And when the game is no longer supported in 10 years and the servers are shut, what happens then? What if somebody like myself wants to go back and play it? Because I still play my PS2 games, who says that won't happen with this NFS game?

By the way, Motor City Online was an MMO.

Ah MMO then, honestly I didnt know as I skipped it just because of the online subscription fee thing it had at startup

But there is a possibility this may not be as bad as it seems, given the always online nature of the consoles, but for the PC market it could be disastrous following the sim city example, however that game had massive problems from the getgo, not just with the always online thing, and a game has poped up to take its place actually

although it killed it at start up, given how many people tried to get on at the same time.

and even with basic things they seem to screw it up PC wise, as I remember with rivals that someone unlocked the 60 frames a second option and well........ it caused this

its been fixed since then with the community but its still silly, plus it shows what I mean about the prozack thing in that game, or to paraphrase it like I was in smokey in the bandit: a Kojack with a Prozack.

but if by some miracle the game isnt split apart by DLC, Preorders and Story Writers who are drinking Frank Millers Koolaid, along with having their balls and the edge of the story cut off, like what happens in TV and PG13 movies nowdays (thread coming up for that latter) and its only this it could work, but it'll be down for a week and a half at launch.

after all they tried the GTA example this time, wait a long time for hype and a demand to build for a new installment in the game franchise, and then have everyone eat it up in droves, regardless if its good or not, although if its not that only works once, see the watch dogs example for instance, and the unlocked E3 Graphics post launch PC

as watch dogs 2 will probably fail all just because of all the bad press it had, and the assassin's creed franchise is a joke at this point, its at moonraker levels of stupid at this point, especially given the hypocracy of how they treat their developers, and then the go on about basically smashing the pigs man (to quote that annoying host from wave 103 in VCS) in the latest trailer for that game with 4 pre order bonus's, yet the parrent company IS a pig lol

a full on Ziggy Piggy no less lol

its kind of like throwing rocks in a glass house, and I'm not sure if that's there way of showing open Contempt for their customers, the developers getting back at them, or just plain stupidity.

and say what you want about rockstar, but they've never done that to their customers regardless of how bad the humor could be with the DJ's in their games

as I cant tell you how many times I said Shutup Reni in Liberty City Stories, in a Rather Samuel L Jackson like tone, such as him telling Vincent to shut up during the Robbery at the end of Pulp Fiction, mutiple times

and Rockstar, NEVER talk over Giorgio Moroder again especially when its someone yapping about some weird sex problem their having that they need to see a psychatrist about, and that's not humor, that's trying to ruin the feeling a song gives off, and is downright disrepectful towards the artist and the listener Rockstart.

its like a child who's just learned how to swear going about and swearing at everything without any ryhme or reason, and if your going to do that in the future, give us the option to take the DJ out ingame, either literally, preferably with a chainsaw, like the san andreas one (which you could run with, unlike in Vice, seriously its far more fun in SA than vice because of that) or through an option in one of the menu's

and yeah I still go back to my PS2 over a decade latter, and its one of the things that always bugged me about modern console gaming really, as a focus on the online stuff always takes away focus on the single player, and if I want to play mutiplayer I'll just go play something on steam.

and actually as I type this I just beat the Tokyo Boss for Midnight Club 2 at 3:30

but I dont know how to drill that this is a bad idea and shouldnt be done  to those bosess and people who run EA except via the Mass Effect 3 Ending thing, massive outrage and yelling, which is probably what saved Bioware with Dragon Age 3 really

as lord knows if they had gotten away with it with 2 and Mass Effect 3, they would have pulled the same thing there.

also recently there was a rumor that apparently Rockstar San Diego who made that game recently did a recrutment drive for some people on an open world game, and I'm kind of thinking its probably not Red Dead 2, but rather another Midnight club game

damn it, this is what Crockett should have gotten his car painted in

and its engineering, I mean christ, they really thought this thing out well

although I think his has an exhaust leak, and Harry Metcalfs first testarossa has some interesting mods to it that might help it in the departments it complains about.
