  2. No, I'm almost a life long fan of the 1911 ever since I was a Kid shooting with my uncles. I actually have a few 1911 Customs by Mr. Heinie that I'm blessed to have.

  3. I feel like Switek in Phil the Shill (our minute of fame for some smart ass answers to questions most people cannot even imagine like "There were in fact 8 bathrooms in Graceland and I used the one next to the kitchen .....")

  4. Gee whizz, @Tom and I have been approached by the editor-in-chief of the Miami New Times about a week ago and were asked if we could contribute some insights on how we identified this and other locations, as well as some information on miamiviceonline.com in general. We gladly complied with this request, and here is the result: https://www.miaminewtimes.com/arts/mansion-miami-vice-coconut-grove-for-sale-moorings-way-19463291

  6. Awesome! That's a great article. I'm impressed how much effort the MNT editor put into the article and how much interest he took in the subject and everything you guys have to offer. I must nitpick: I wish he hadn't propagated the widespread myth about Scarface: Tony Montana's house is in California. http://www.floridamovielocations2.org/page26.html

  7. This is the pistol used in the series. Michael Mann was a gun guy who had graduated from Gunsite and knew his handguns well.

  8. I personally think it's asphalt. In fact I just found a house while randomly browsing which has an approach which I believe is very similar to what Malcolm's house has (compare back with my highlighted screenshot with curves and thin curbs): In fact that's probably exactly what he does in that night drive-up scence - he turns to the left towards the house to get into this loop and stops in it. This particular house is in Miami Shores. I was browsing that area because it is directly north of victims 2-3 house, has decently think vegetation in many places, and was probably underdeveloped vs Miami at the time, so there is more chances for that rough road without sidewalks and curbs and drains etc., and some weird random street configuations which I think what this house implies. E.g. check out this street a block away from the above house, very good vibe:

  10. Definately ! As song came out in time for the second season would have worked well - like the darker “ Picture Book” worked well in the third Season episode Good Collar.

  11. As to the last piece of Malcolm rushing to school sequence, this is an interesting one. There are some really nice clues in this one shot: Namely, some seafood sign in the back, further back a power substation, further back and above it a bridge, some building further back. The substation and the bridge match well the metrorail bridge crossing Miami river and the substation west of it: What is the road then? In the original screenshot above, I believe the round columns on the right are then I-95 overpass support, so he must be getting out of SW 2nd St and onto SW North River Dr, as he is driving towards the SW 1st St bridge. Here is the overall picture: The view today is hard to match: But I think I got it right with the indicators above. Let me know what you guys think.

  12. Just figured where Malcolm is running across traffic towards his girlfriend's school to save her - it's my favorite MV intersection, Brickell Ave and SE 15th St! Easily matched by the church. That's a crazy distance stitch within this chase scene.

  13. Crime scene 1: in the movie they say Bill Baggs Beach and I think it is. On the aerials we see several wooden bridges (or looks like) reaching out to the sea in the southern east part near the Lighthouse. See below.

  14. If we refine a search pattern from these stills, then it should look like this: open sea only, nothing blocks view very "narrow" beach, hardly any beach between vegetation and the waterline water looks quite dark/not very shallow or at least not a lot of sandy bottom of the sea visible, as usually with flat sandy beaches dense vegetation behind the cops wooden poles, marking shallow water and that boats are likely to approach the wooden pathway stops very close to the water Adding this all up, only very few short stretches of beach are left on Virginia Key or Key Biscayne (see my red marks in pics attached). Any potential main land spots like the Matheson Hammock Park marina surrounding disqualify due to blocked view or wrong beach pattern. I hoped I can see the wooden walkway on the 1986 historic aerial, but I did not. My best guess is a spot near the waterplant and former Jimbo´s on the eastern north tip of Virginia Key (third pic), as it qualifies for all above AND has one big outstanding feature compared to other potential stretches: there is a small access road very near (even a white car can be seen on it on the 86 aerial), thus makes the existence of a wooden walkway more plausible (who would build it or select it as a filming location in the middle of nowhere with no car accessibility nearby?), although not clearly visible there.

  15. In all honesty, I don’t believe the character of Gina’s race or ethnic background had anything to do with having a relationship with Crockett. Both were immensely attracted to, and deeply cared about & for the other. Their races (whether the characters or the actors in real life) had nothing to do with it. I don’t really watch MV, looking for racial issues (unless part of the plot revolved around or included that). But, I think MV did an immensely superb job of including many races, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, etc…
