  1. There has been a lot of discussion about this event and with everything that's supposed to happen and all the guest stars that are supposed to appear, you have to admit that it sounds too good to be true. And as the old saying goes "if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is" All that aside, I truly hope it all happens! But after some discussion with the owner of this site we have decided to post a disclaimer that this site, miamiviceonline, is in no way, shape or form associated with this event. We take no responsibility for anything that does or doesn't happen. Should the event happen to be cancelled we have no way to reimburse registration fees, travel costs, or hotel bookings. Long story short, you can read all about it here but that's where our responsibility ends. That's all folks! Fingers crossed it's a success.

  4. I've gone a few rounds with stupidity myself. COOPER & BURNETT for one. I shared a piece of music by Jan Hammer and he hit the roof! Suposedly he was saving this music as a bargaining chip to trade for something else in his collection. I politely told him that music, among other things, was meant to be shared, not hoarded. Another instance was on wikipedia. Somehow (and God only knows how) our old buddy srobak became a moderator on wikipedia. I was casually browsing there and simply added the link to our site for those looking for information. Ok fine. So the next day I went back and it was deleted. So I added it again. Curiously I went back the next day and it was gone again, with a warning from srobak and I was eventually banned from wiki. I knew, without a doubt that he deleted it because: 1. It was a site he was banned from, and 2. I was the person who banned him. I managed to contact another moderator above srobak and proceeded to give him a little history about our friend. The end result was that this moderator did a little digging into srobak's activity on wiki and soon found out that I wasn't the only person he was bullying. The mod re-instated me with an apology and gave srobak the boot! So I had the pleasure of getting him banned from yet another site. I won't even get into Rick Bravo as his reputation speaks for itself. I agree with Tom that these losers have no business on a site like ours. I have no problem calling them out by name and I promise that they, and any others like them, will NEVER be allowed here. Sometimes I answer a question or share an mp3 with a new member and they seem surprised. Mostly because they tried asking the same thing on another site and were harassed just for asking! (A Rick Bravo trademark) All of the information we've accumulated here as a community is free for anyone. All you need to do is ask. It's as simple as that. I've been told by numerous members that we have one of the friendliest sites on the internet and I intend to keep it that way!

  8. Vice's realistic situations reinforced what I believed already: The line between good and evil is blurry, some basically honest people are just are in the wrong place at the wrong time or just get caught in unfortunate circumstances. Also the war on drugs is a lost cause.

  11. Folks, I agree with Ferrariman and have spoken at length with him on this. Both of us are extremely hopeful that this event is the best event ever. However, I want to also make it perfectly clear that I am not endorsing this event either my self or my web site miamiviseonline.com. It is our hope that this event will not only meet, but exceed everyone's expectations, but if it doesn’t and things go “South” with this event and or it doesn’t come to fruition, or it doesn’t meet folk’s expectations, then we/I/miamiviceonline.com take no responsibility for this whatsoever as we are not affiliated with or endorsing this event in any way. Yes, I am allowing this to be posted on my forum for the purpose of “informing” the members that this event is taking place, but I take no responsibility in its success or failure. I/we/miamiviceonline have not confirmed the “validity” of this event or any of the alleged actors/actress or events scheduled to participate. As Ferrariman stated above, you can read about it here but that’s where our responsibility ends. With that we truly hope it is a huge success and I’m sorry I will not be able to join those going. “Caveat Emptor” Thank you.

  15. After @airtommy mentioned here that @C Glide never got around to studying the closing montages, I thought I’d try and fill that gap, at least up to the episode of the show I’ve watched so far, which is Bushido. The locations are all pretty much known, so I did something else. I put everything into an Excel table, covering 30 episodes, which essentially looks like this. Where for each new episode I just fill out the numbers opposite the shots used. For example, if the first shot in the montage was the flamingo bustle, I put ‘1’ there. After the montage is over, those which didn’t participate just get an N/A value. What it then lets me do is sort for any episode in a click and see exactly which shots in what order were used, for example for Glades the first few: The rightmost part of the table automatically accumulates montage shots statistics: And the bottom of the table automatically accumulates episode statistics: Finally, there is a small section that automatically updates with record numbers: It is also easy to quickly see other things like in which episode any particular shot was seen for the first time. When I finish this table for the whole show, I will convert it into Google Sheets and share an online link. Given the rate at which I watch the show and the effort the table does take, it won’t be happening any time soon, so I wanted to share this now anyway. First, here are all the shots in the order they first appear in closing montages, left to right and top to bottom. Sorry but I haven’t been able yet to catch clean shots of all of them – some have the credits text overlay… Now the fun part, some observations! Heart of Darkness and Calderone’s Return II do not include closing montages. The largest number of montage shots (so far) was in Golden Triangle I – 21. The most common shot is the water skier. He appears 23 times across the 30 episodes. Runners-up are a Bal Harbor shot and a Flamingo Bustle. The man also dominates the last shot position, with the Bal Harbor pan also coming second. Interestingly the cruise ships while taking the 3rd place only showed 4 times so far generally, so they really like to go for the last. Flamingos are the most popular to kick off the montage, with the water skier coming second and the Palace Condominiums 3rd. We have 3 triples of sports shots. Horse and dog racing are introduced with all 3 shots at the same time, and at first keep showing up as all 3 in the same order. After a while the 3 start being used independently. However, jai alai never has any order and shows up randomly from the beginning. The wind surfer often immediately follows the sail boat – I guess makes sense. They could actually also make a sailing sports triplet with the catamaran! After the pilot episode, the seaplane didn’t show up again until the first episode of the second season. Some other things I noticed. Glades is a special episode because its closing montage has an extra last screen – referencing copyright of the Deputy Daw cartoon the crew is watching in their hideout in the beginning of the episode. Golden Triangle I is a special episode in that the closing montage contains a lot of shots without text overlay so you can just enjoy the views. Just like it was in the pilot episode. So to me Golden Triangle I has a weird spirit of a visual reset. Junk Love is a special episode because its closing montage only has one shot! That of Bal Harbor lateral flight. Which leads me to the next point that the same shot is of course not always (or even not ever) identical in length every time it shows up. Bal Harbor shot specifically varies widely in duration and which segment of the flight is used. Finally, no two montages are the same! There are two couples that are close, but still not the same. Give a Little, Take a Little and Nobody Lives forever hold the record (outside of Junk Love) for the smallest number of shots – 5. And those 5 are almost all the same in the same order: What is in a sense even a closer match are Whatever Works and Out Where the Buses Don’t Run. Both have 12 shots, 10 of which match. And the two that don’t are similar anyway - one pair is different jai alai shots, another Bal Harbor and Brickell bird’s eye views: That’s it for now folks! I hope you liked this analysis. And tell me which is your favorite closing montage shot. Mine is the pool, and it sucks that Palmeras Beach Club is now permanently closed awaiting its demolition, so I’ll never get to see that pool in person. There are many other shots I like especially, for example, the fist jai alai, seaplane, wind surfer, bikini girls, and the festival shot of a lady with the fruit hat.

  16. The episode is set up as a game of chess between Castillo and the KGB officers coming after Gretzky and his family. The visuals are carefully constructed to reinforce this idea: the tiles on the floor resemble a chessboard and the characters chess pieces. They grew smaller as the episode moves on, meaning the 'game' becomes more and more complicated * * from James Lyons' book 'Miami Vice'

  20. The original VHS cover art of the Pilot has an odd, almost 70ies feeling. For those who never saw the VHS release the best coverart image I could find is the German version. But the Ozzy version had the same artwork albeit in english: I must have rented out the store copy a dozen times

  23. ...where the weather is definitely the opposite of Miami. I did periodically spend some time in South Florida in the late 80's, but I can't tell you much about it, because I was 6 and under. I did have a "Miami Mice" t-shirt, but I never saw a minute of the show before 2022 (I somehow managed to watch the movie first, a few years ago. Didn't make too much of an impression). I thought the show would be an impossible relic of the 80's, and not very good. Boy was I wrong. The music is wondrous and I have no idea how they ever got this show on DVD. Did all the artists who guest-starred give up licensing rights? My favorite characters are Sonny and Gina (not necessarily in that order), to the point I've written a couple of in-series stories about them and have plans for more, if I can keep this momentum going. I love to discuss information I find and turn into headcanons! And finding a sense of significance and especially, humor, in things. That's about it for the moment... oh, yes, Daytona >>>> Testarossa. Nice to meet you all!

  25. I love this! We just had one photographer Many of you have seen this photo but: In 2016 while we were taking photos of the lighthouse, a young couple was having a pro photographer take their engagement photos on the beach. The photographer kindly offered (without being asked) to take my phone and take our photo for free! I had an idea…

  28. This is a nice memory shot from The Maze published by Greg Kral (right of PMT), a real SWAT member playing off-duty in this episode. Greg is a very nice guy and always happy to help when asked about the series. Right of Greg is legendary Sgt. Bob Hoelscher the police advisor of the show. He sadly passed away last year. Top right is Camera operator Rick Bravo sr. Rick Bravo jr. took the photo, according to Greg Kral.

  29. It’s that time of year again where I get the itch for the Crockett look, granted it’s later in the summer for it, but we have had the most surprising heatwave recently. Heatwave! For September! In the UK! But if it isn’t too cold, I am going to pull off the Season 3 look into the Autumn! I also bought myself some black loafers to go with the look, but here are my recent Crockett looks. The braces were a one off for the picture to resemble Crockett’s holster, but it went well I felt.

  38. some of us remember the hunt for the Tucker apartment location in Smuggler´s blues a few years back. Finally we came to the conclusion it was a studio set, based on crew members testimony and @daytona365s mindblowing find of the breeze blocks imprints on the studio floor in a later episode (Evan). This very rare BTS pic is a tribute to that scene as it was taken the Tucker apartment scenes were filmed in studio (see the "Studio B" writing on the wall). enjoy!
