  4. Some of you old-heads may remember my friend Rick Leon who helped me in the beginning (circa 1998?) to find correct sounds/synthesizers for Miami Vice music. He and I have kept in contact for more than 20 years now. Last week he found out I had sold my 2nd edition DX7 after I bought the original DX7, which sadly disabled me to update my “Klaus” cover (among a few other season 3 sounds) to the accuracy it deserves, so he sent me an extra he had sitting in his closet! At not cost! A gift!! Above saving me a $500 expense for bringing that cover up to snuff, Rick further established himself as being the key to unlocking any chance I had at being able to share my hobby with other fans. “What a guy”. A new and very special cover is in order. Stay tuned...

  5. Can I just say that I absolutely love everybody on this website? never in all my years have I met a nicer crowd of people, we all love Miami Vice, we all share the same hobbies and interests and everything, I feel absolutely privileged to have joined this website and met everybody and to talk with you all about Vice and share opinions and ask questions, I just..I feel so grateful for every single one of you, this community the Vice community I've never met such a nice bunch of people...you all are absolutely amazing and made me feel welcome the day I joined this website, a troll or rude or horrible person does not exist on this website at all, I feel great to be part of this fan community that is Vice, I hope to be on here for a while, it's been an amazing time joining and being on here posting and sharing opinions which almost everyone can agree with, we all share the love for Vice and we always will and I don't think I'll ever get slow or stop logging in one day, why do that when I'm surrounded by such a nice crowd on an amazing fan base? A big thank you and love from your pal Detective_Crockett

  6. There has been a lot of discussion about this event and with everything that's supposed to happen and all the guest stars that are supposed to appear, you have to admit that it sounds too good to be true. And as the old saying goes "if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is" All that aside, I truly hope it all happens! But after some discussion with the owner of this site we have decided to post a disclaimer that this site, miamiviceonline, is in no way, shape or form associated with this event. We take no responsibility for anything that does or doesn't happen. Should the event happen to be cancelled we have no way to reimburse registration fees, travel costs, or hotel bookings. Long story short, you can read all about it here but that's where our responsibility ends. That's all folks! Fingers crossed it's a success.

  9. It was crowded and I was taking up to spots, forgot to get rid of the socks. LMAO. Other then that mishap I got some pretty good photos. Have some other locations for this year with my blue pants, pink jacket. Was trying to recreate the iconic photo taken a twilight from original 1984 photos of the two detectives.

  11. Please click here: Here's the video: This video is dedicated to MY Old Friend...THE Rick Leon—without his help and contributions over the years Retro-Dade Music would certainly be inferior to what it is today. This video features Rick’s very own Yamaha DX7 mkII, which he kindly donated for use in my content. This cue plays faintly in the Season 3 episode “Killshot”, where Jan Hammer used his then-new Kawai K3 module for this magnificent bell-like sound. You may recognize the guitar sound from “The Talk” (Season 1 “Evan”) and other cues as Jan used this DX7 patch quite a few times on both the mkI and mkII DX7—even on “Crockett’s Theme” (please see my “Sounds from Crockett’s Theme” video for that). The ubiquitous Memorymoog pad and bass are certainly recognizable, as are the ambiances from the Lexicon 200. I was fortunate enough to visit the Miami Jai Alai fronton in 2003—I even got to walk right out on the court as seen in this video. At the time, the whole arena looked exactly like what you see here. This music (along with my custom-made canvas Jai Alai player print that always hangs in my studio) will always take me right back there. Enjoy!

But here's my Smuggler's Blues look, I tried it on the other night when I couldn't sleep. Definitely one of my favorite combos.

  18. I've gone a few rounds with stupidity myself. COOPER & BURNETT for one. I shared a piece of music by Jan Hammer and he hit the roof! Suposedly he was saving this music as a bargaining chip to trade for something else in his collection. I politely told him that music, among other things, was meant to be shared, not hoarded. Another instance was on wikipedia. Somehow (and God only knows how) our old buddy srobak became a moderator on wikipedia. I was casually browsing there and simply added the link to our site for those looking for information. Ok fine. So the next day I went back and it was deleted. So I added it again. Curiously I went back the next day and it was gone again, with a warning from srobak and I was eventually banned from wiki. I knew, without a doubt that he deleted it because: 1. It was a site he was banned from, and 2. I was the person who banned him. I managed to contact another moderator above srobak and proceeded to give him a little history about our friend. The end result was that this moderator did a little digging into srobak's activity on wiki and soon found out that I wasn't the only person he was bullying. The mod re-instated me with an apology and gave srobak the boot! So I had the pleasure of getting him banned from yet another site. I won't even get into Rick Bravo as his reputation speaks for itself. I agree with Tom that these losers have no business on a site like ours. I have no problem calling them out by name and I promise that they, and any others like them, will NEVER be allowed here. Sometimes I answer a question or share an mp3 with a new member and they seem surprised. Mostly because they tried asking the same thing on another site and were harassed just for asking! (A Rick Bravo trademark) All of the information we've accumulated here as a community is free for anyone. All you need to do is ask. It's as simple as that. I've been told by numerous members that we have one of the friendliest sites on the internet and I intend to keep it that way!

  20. So my niece got married in Texas last month. I decided to make a very rare appearance in my 1980s Hugo Boss suit like the one Crockett wore in season 3. The wedding photographer snapped this shot at (not) my finest moment. My niece shared the photo with me today, and now I’m sharing it with you.

  21. I can’t believe this, but it actually happened: I went to Walmart today to grab a new bowl for my insane dog (worse than any of Izzy’s uncle’s greyhounds). I cut through the middle of the store to avoid the aisles, and this really great shiny light grey jacket was hanging on a rack—out of place, with some athletic jerseys—in my size! I checked for other colors and this was the only one like it in the whole store. I’ve always wanted a jacket for this time of year with that Season 3 kind of vibe. I guess this one was just meant for me! Finally, and in the most unexpected place! It was $19! AT WALMART!!! I have some dark green-ish and blue-ish henleys, some dark pants, black loafers, and Persol shades. Now all I need is a white Testarossa! (I could also use @Mrich209’s hair, but it’s just not gonna happen ). I will try to post a pic of a full ensemble ASAP...

  22. On Friday, February 8, 1985, the world was introduced to one of the best music cues in TV History as "Rites of Passage" was originally broadcast. Jan Hammer himself even said it was one of his favorite cues of the entire series. “Tubbs and Valerie” was released on Jan’s "Escape from Television" album in 1987 with some great new sounds added, but I've always liked it better just the way it was originally used in the show. That original version was never realeased, so... Here is my first cover on my long-awaited new YouTube channel. Please like, comment, and subscribe! https://youtu.be/AfMafKfa70o Note: May I ask that you PLEASE do not use this audio or video on your own channel? I would really like to communicate with as many fans of the show and music as possible all in one place on this new channel. Feel free to share the link anywhere and everywhere, though. Thanks!

  24. Thanks pal! Stay strong - no matter how depressing it might be outside at the moment, the darkest months passed by, and soon a warm breeze will blow through your linen blazers! ;) To get this started, down below you can see the exact same outfit I went out for drinks with yesterday evening. It was already dark outside, so I jumped on a season 3 kind of outfit. Havent done my hair when the photo was taken, so there is no head. Just like on COOPs old photos! Totally love the combination of the bright yellow with the darker colors! Season 3 wasnt that bad, just different. Blazer: 100% cotton, half-lined, 2btn by CINQUE, shirt: regular fit 3btn Henley made of 100% cotton by the brand Basefield, pants: black dress pants made of a cotton/linen blend by ESPRIT

  39. First, we stopped at The (New) Auto Toy Store in Pompano Beach because I saw they had a white Testarossa for sale on their website. The old location was in Fort Lauderdale, and was originally the car dealership we see briefly in the pilot opening theme montage ("Auto Pinache"?). Anyway, they are in a smaller building now, but the cars are still great, especially this 1988 Testarossa with white leather!:

  44. Our member, 'CROCKETTT" saved my sanity while I was gone for a while due to personal family reasons. I bought a smartphone reciently (a new tablet is coming next), and I kept going to his YOUTUBE channel to listen to his MIAMI VICE ripped music from the TV series, which thankfully, he also posts here. He is doing such a good job removing the dialog and sound effects that we can now hear the JAN HAMMER music that used to be somewhat hidden at times. I used to do this with an old 90's analog vocal eliminator. I was, the very first to do this. I posted some stuff on the old JAN HAMMER.ORG website that doesn't exist anymore. Now, thankfully, with brand new technology and a great fan, CROCKETTT now shares these newly transfered ripped treasures with us. We are lucky! It's on youtube, and I'm take'in advantage! When I need a break, I turn on my smartphone, go to Crockettt's youtube channel, kick back, turn up the volume and listen to the tunes while looking at the lake. I do this at nighttime too. Some tracks just are perfect for the moment. I think this has saved my sanity. Thank you CROCKETTT!
