    End Of The Show / Das Serienende

    Miami Vice was a quite expensive show in the 80ies: 1,0-1,5 Mio. $ per episode. NBC (purchaser) only payed about two third of the expenses Universal (production company) had. The difference had to be refinanced by advertising. But especially during season 4 and 5 viewer rates decreased permanenty - thus the advertising revenue decreased as well. For this reason Michael Mann decided to cease the show right after finishing the shots for Lost Madonna. Miami Vice war mit 1,0-1,5 Mio $ pro Folge eine verhältnismässig teure Serie (in den 80ern!). Da der Auftraggeber (NBC) nur rund zwei Drittel bis drei Viertel der Kosten pro Folge an den Produzenten Universal zahlte, musste die Budget-Differenz durch Werbung refinanziert werden. Jedoch besonders während den letzen zwei Staffeln sanken die Zuschauerquoten ständig und damit auch die Werbeeinnahmen und die Möglichkeit, die Verluste wieder auszugleichen. Deswegen entschloss sich Michael Mann gegen Mitte der 5. Staffel, die Serie einzustellen. © 2007 by Ell.a
