The NBC version ended with the closing title "to be continued" as it was shown as second last episode of the season, practically being act one of a two-parter. Working title of this episode was "Love means never having to say you're busted". 
Die NBC Fassung endete mit dem Vermerk: "to be continued", da sie als vorletzte Episode der Staffel gezeigt wurde. Praktisch Teil eine eines Zweiteilers. Der Arbeitstitel war "Love means never having to say you're busted"

 

My Assessment: 
Wertung:
Surely a sad episode, but well done. Nearly as good as the first Hackman part one year ago, although the script of the first part was more original. Guy Boyd again delivers one of the most disgusting villains of the whole show. There are, set aside from the prayer-related title, some elements repeated from previous shows, making this episode in some respects a logical consequence of them. For example, Jan Hammer’s tune The Talk which was heard in Like a Hurricane is back again as is the cross Hackman handed over to Crockett in Forgive us our debts. The end is open and has been discussed ever since by fans: did Crockett kill him on purpose or just defend himself? With this episode, Michael Mann started to break his main character Sonny Crockett. He gets vulnerable and prone to burn out. 
Sicher eine traurige Folge, aber toll gemacht. Genauso gut wie der erste Teil mit Hackman vor einem Jahr. Auch der tolle Hammer-Tune The Talk ist wieder da. DJ kann wieder zur Höchstform auflaufen. Das Ende ist ein Zwitter: Crockett soll seine Rache bekommen, darf aber keinen offensichtlichen Mord begehen, daher bleibt das Ergebnis offen und schwer interpretierbar (hatte Hackman eine Waffe ja/nein). Mit dieser Folge beginnt Michael Mann Crockett zu brechen. Er wird verwundbar und beginnt auszubrennen.
