I was driving along Ocean Beach today and noticed a Vice reference,at every red light where you turn off,if your driving from your hotel to,say, the Malibu, all the hotels right by the turns look just like the hotel where Crockett and Eddie met Corky in Brother's Keeper!Anybody else notice that?

Hey!I just love this game, it's so good and interesting and beautiful. I love the views and the music and just the spirit. Yes, I am a girl. And no, I am not a geek. I guess :D I have completed the game like 70%, but now the missions are just too hard for me. When something difficult has come along, I have asked my brother to help me :D I started to play the game, when my brother go it, but when he moved into his own apartment, I had to buy the game, so I could play it everytime I want. Now, when I can't get any forward, I'm just driving around and do the taxi-tasks :D

Well,if you need help, don't hesitate to ask,I've beat Vice City tons of times,I've completed it 100% three times, here is a tip for completing it 100%,it's not ethical or "right" but....Cheat!If you need cheat codes, just ask.It may be wrong to use codes but let's face it,that lame excuse of somebody hacking the game and putting codes in(once maybe, but all the games?!!) and that you can't beat vice city 100% with cheats?Ha!I had to start over on Vice City today...but because my old black memory card finally conked out and took my GTA 3,VC,SA,LCS AND VCS files with it!I'm using codes....so again if you need codes, just ask.Glad to help fellow Vice Citizens!

Thank you for offering your help. It's just that I know what I have to do next, but I'm not good enough to do what I should do, fuzzy, right? :D For example, I'm not that good shooter, or that good and fast driver. I have used the armor-code and health-code, so I don't mind using the codes. I have used more codes in San Andreas, because that's even harder game than Vice City! :D Nice Mad :)

Use the code where you blow up all the vehicles around you. That takes out a lot of people. Of course spawning a gat gun really works. You just mow down anything in your path, by shooting and turning in a circle.

He's right, here is weapon cheat 3,which gets you a chainsaw, colt python(Dirty Harry's 357!),MP5(submachine gun carried by fbi agents),Spaz 12 Gauge(finest shotgun ever made, rapid fire!),M16 assault rifle, the mini-gun(the weapon the previous post was advising on),psg-1 laser scope rapid fire sniper rifle and grenades. Here is the code!:(Note, you have to use the d pad to imput the directions)R1,R2,L1,R2,LEFT,DOWN,RIGHT,UP,LEFT,DOWN,DOWN,DOWN.(remember,use the d pad to imput the directions)(D pad is the four keys on the controller that you can use to control your character,i.e. LEFT,sorry to lecture if you already know this,I've met a lot of people who don't know what this stuff means.)

I was playing the missions on Vice City today,I played the mission Phnom Penh '86(by the way,it's a new file I started yesterday if your wondering how come it's taken three months to reach this point in the game!)and noticed something, the idea has similarities to ep#17:The Maze from Miami Vice! The idea of a group of young street punks with heavy weaponry taken control of a large building(in the game,a whole island, hey, kinda like The Enforcer!) and a standoff,I think when designing the mission, they looked at The Maze for this.Although instead of a hostage situation,it's a gunbattle from a chopper, and the end is similar in the way the young punk leader is on the roof at the end is notable, except this time he gets killed in the battle, anyone else notice these slight similarities?Or any other similarities in the missions?

^ I could see it. Of course, there's no delicate hostage situation to worry about, so all you had to do was mow down everybody. I'm sure the mission is a cinch using a mouse, but it's tough as balls using that stupid PS2 joystick.

I was playing that mission today as well! As you all don't know, I have the PC version, and I can imagine the difficulty in aiming for those guys on PS2. I can hardly do it with a mouse. In fact, as I played the mission, I just thought it was indeed like The Maze. And that's at 7 in the morning. Before coffee.

Oh,by the way,Phnom Penh is a city in Cambodia, the city was a central city for the Vietnam War,does anybody know what the reference is about? :)Oh,dchan,I have been playing Vice City on the PS2 since I bought my first copy the last Friday of January 2003 and I can beat the thing in about ten or so hours. I have no trouble with the joysticks, although I have been using Playstation 2 since 2001.

Oh' date='by the way,Phnom Penh is a city in Cambodia, the city was a central city for the Vietnam War,does anybody know what the reference is about? [/quote']I can wiki or Google it, but that's cheating. Actually, I'll look now.....yep, something to do with the Khmer Rouge, of course.

So it's no surprise that the hardest mission for me was the Ammunation Challenge.Of course, the Vice City Ammunation Challenge is a cinch, relatively speaking. I've gotten to about 99.9% completion in GTA San Andreas - completed almost every storyline mission (except the last one, which I was saving); sprayed all tags, collected all horseshoes, etc.; all taxi, ambulance, etc. missions; took over every slice of territory in Los Santos. So I did absolutely everything......except for the Ammunation Challenge. The other hard side mission was the NRG-500 Challenge - I cheated on that one (the trick is to run through the first ring just as time expires, and you get infinite time to do the whole mission). The problem with the Ammunation Challenge? You have to do four rounds of challenges, consecutively - very tiring mentally. Which would be great if your competitors stayed at the same level. But they don't. They somehow get better. Not just slightly better. Much better. You beat them handily in the pistol round and the machine pistol round. Then they stop missing in the shotgun round (not that hard to do with a shotgun, but I digress). Then they stop missing in the AK-47 round - you're need to be lucky to beat them, even if you reach Hitman level with the assault rifles. And the worst part? If you lose, you have to go through the pistol, machine-pistol, and shotgun rounds to get another crack at the AK-47 round. Arrgghhhhhhh!!!!! In a related story, I stayed at 99% completion, and ultimately destroyed the whole file and restarted due to sheer boredom.

It also doesn't help that Lance is the worst helicopter pilot when it comes to keeping the damn bird steady. On the plus side, the mission is fairly quick, so you can start over again pretty easily without feeling too frustrated. Unlike in that stupid San Andreas Ammunation Challenge.

I have beaten Vice City 100% at least three or four times, the ammunation challenge on that just took lots of practice.:cool:I have also beaten GTA 3 100% about five times,I can get through the main story in one sitting(last time 6 hours,30 minutes!).:cool:I didn't play all the way through San Andreas, that game is huge! I want to sit down and take my time when I'm ready to play again.:cool:I beat the psp version of Liberty City Stories three days after buying it and again in two and a half sittings(10 or 12 hours),the PS2 version I never quite get 100% on,I never rushed through it,always took my time(it has an amazing story) I never finished Vice City Stories on either systems.(it gets kinda boring because Vice City is a dump in that game) :cool:As for the new one,I haven't even got anything to play it on!

^ If you've got a kickass PC, you can play GTA IV. Too bad I heard Rockstar or whomever did such a lousy job porting it to PC - the first release was full of glitches. If you ever do get a system to play it, get the XBox 360 simply because it gets exclusive content. A new episode of the game came out recently or is coming out: http://nytimes.com/2009/02/18/arts/television/18gta.html?8dpcSan Andreas is a huge game, but I somehow like GTA III and GTA Vice City better. I mean, sure you get to fly planes, use a heat-seeking RPG, drive some insanely fast cars and bikes, change your clothes, etc. in San Andreas. But for me, it's a bit too big - as in, the makers of the game didn't quite flesh out the physical details in the game as well as they did in Vice City or III. I loved the cities and physical environment in the other games, but I just couldn't embrace the cities and the surrounding areas in San Andreas. Or maybe I simply disliked the main hideout/save-points in the game. I liked the GTA III save-points even thought they were kinda basic. I loved the first hotel room in Vice City - the sun-lit room, the black marble hallways, the hotel restaurant, the Cuban music playing in the background - it was great! In San Andreas, you get the choice of the crappy Johnson house in Los Santos, the crappy gas station in San Fierro, and the crappy casino save-point in Las Venturas. Sure, you had other save points, but they all kinda sucked as well (although I did like the one in Santa Maria Beach). Call me strange for liking a game based on the aesthetic quality of the save-points. :) But I think it went much deeper than that, although I can't quite put a finger on what.BTW - if you've reached the point where you can do the AK-47 Ammunation Challenge, try it out. The first two rounds (pistol, machine pistol) will be easy because your opponents are incompetent shooters, but they become Olympic-level marksmen in the last two rounds (shotgun, AK-47).

I think Vice City is the greatest game in the series and my most favorite game of all time, GTA 3 is a great game but you don't want to play it right after Vice City because Liberty City is a dump, the main problem I have with San Andreas is that the story doesn't click as well as previous games because the game starts with a stereotypical ghetto first chapter, (complete with overuse of the n-word.) a great chapter two out in the badlands, (Peter Fonda as a doppie!) San Fierro's terrific chapter, (love the mission where you plant dope in the DA's car trunk!) those frustrating desert missions, (although flying was easy!) and the okay Las Venturas missions. (Sal's back!) The story goes from ghetto punk to Bonnie and Clyde (CJ and Catalina) to body shop owner to Triad hitman (?) to master pilot (?!) to Casino Part-time owner (?!!) , Vice City came together more logically. (it was about making money, not saving a young punk brother) and GTA 3 is about a mob associate who works on the outskirts of the families (it's like a modern day Miller's Crossing.) and Liberty City is about a mobster's fight for his place in the Leone family during a bad union strike. San Andreas is fun but is disaapointingly shallow in places, Vice City is still the king!

^ I actually think the story was the strongest part of the game. You went from a nobody, and slowly became a somebody, only to voluntarily come back to your roots. Not a bad story at all.But it becomes a bit far-fetched at times. For example, the fact that Woozie doesn't actually take any of your actual money when you become a partner to the Casino. What if you decided to blow all your money on hookers and blackjack before that 'mission'? How the hell are you supposed to pay for your share of the Casino then? And the expert pilot part was pretty ridiculous as well - you go from a guy who can barely ride a bicycle correctly to an expert Air-Force-level pilot within a few months. :)Yes, you got to do a whole lot of stuff you couldn't do in the other games. Parachuting was a ton of fun. So was flying an airplane. And especially those gang wars. But after you got done with that and became bored, there was little of substance within the game. It was, as you said...rather shallow. That comes from the game just being too damn big. That said, my favorite thing to do in any of the GTA games (besides going through St. Marks with a bulletproof vehicle, and laughing as the mobsters keep shooting me in vain), was taking an FCR-900 motorcycle in San Fierro, going into the military base by the water, and getting chased through the hills of San Fierro by the FBI Ranchers Bullitt style.

Bullitt style.

I think the story is okay, just like you said, farfetched. I actually enjoy flying the planes, I loved the Dirty Harry style of San Fierro (one of my favorite films) and I love the voice acting like Samuel L. Jackson, James Woods (one of my favorite actors) and Peter Fonda, Chris Penn also gave a good performance. I also like that San Andreas soundtrack was a little diverse, like my favorite music in the game, The Statler Brothers. (although I think they would frown on this game!) But Vice City is, at least to me, perfect. A perfect blend of story, gameplay, voice acting, music (best soundtrack....ever.) and ambience. GTA 3 is still terrific, especially if you're into mob movies like Goodfellas or a huge Sopranos fan (I used to practically breathe that series) and if you have a PS2 or psp, it would be crazy not to play the Liberty City Stories (it has an amazing story with Oscar worthy performances). But still, Vice City is the game that gravitates videogames into the same medium of films and books, it's The Gone With The Wind, or to be more appropriate, The Godfather, of videogames.

My SA was stolen years ago in a burglary. I never got the hang of the game.Dealing with gang members at work, just didn't make it fun to come home to as well. LOLThe draw with VC was that it took me away, back to fun days in my life. As it did with many people. In fact, I had a VC moment today. I was driving at work, and I have a Delphi converter kit for the car. So I'm on the "First Wave" channel, and Pale Shelter comes on. After that, the Moving In Stereo, followed by More Than this. Those songs together (even though the cars song wasn't in VC was it?) really was weird. I also get this on the 80's channel from time to time, where the songs will run together as my VC box set has them.As far as fun things to do, I used to get the wanted level up to 4 stars, have everyone chase me on the beach in the 4wd blazer, and keep doing the health cheat to keep the car going. I'm easy to amuse. LOL

I have a lot of those moments, one time I was in a store and they played both "I Died in Your Arms" and "Africa", both on CD3:Emotion 98.3, which was sitting out in the Blazer!Coincidence, but still, I also heard "Sunglasses at Night" on the radio at the body shop where my dad used to works. Once they played, I'm not kidding you, "Crockett's Theme" in a local FYE! That's what I call a Vice moment, the irony is I was there asking if Miami Vice was on DVD. (this was early 2003, before the first season came out.)

Talking about Vice City moments. When I was in Miami last May I was on Ocean Drive one day and 'I Ran' by A Flock Of Seagulls was playing from a hotel. I thought "Man, now I'm really in Vice City!"

I don't know how many of you have already heard of this but in Vice City, did anybody know that the car Diaz drives in "Guardian Angels" is bulletproof? All you have to do is finish the mission and after Diaz drives off and Tommy wonders where Lance is, walk down the street where Diaz took off, if Diaz's car is there, he won't be in the car, steal it and take it to a garage, it will come in handy in certain missions.(such as Death Row) (Note: also, this is a goof, Diaz always drives towards Ocean Beach, but he lives on Starfish Island, where was he going? Especially after the assault on his life.)

But it's not just bulletproof - it's explosion proof, flame proof, and may even be tank-proof. A very special car indeed. Actually, I think his car is actually locked if you finish the mission. So for simplicity's sake, simply fail the mission by killing Diaz. Then steal the white Admiral. And you can fail this mission multiple times, and keep a hoard of BP/EP/FP white Admirals in your garages. One more note: if you don't put it into your garage at first, the white Admiral also has puncture proof tires. Once you put it into your garage and save, its tires become normal tires.BTW - Diaz is most definitely headed towards the Pole Position Club to get it on with the ladies. :)

BTW - Can you picture that pick-up line?: " Hey, baby, I'm Ricardo Diaz, I just survived an attempted assasination by some Haitan d..k heads to be with you, will you be my sweetheart?" a real charmer!
