Not sure what you are referring to in the above statement. My car (camera car) does have the prancing horse logo on the turn signal lenses.

Same lenses as mine. CD, out of curiosity, do you have any particulars you can share on your car cover....model and mamufacturer and where obtained? I am trying to find one fitted for this car and like yours, mine is garage kept.

But I think the Corvette covers would work - probably a Corvette C4 (84 to 96) cover would be the right size. You can get them from any Corvette parts company (such as Mid-America Motorworks) or even Costco. I recently bought a cover for a 67 Cutlass from Costco and I think they had a cover that would fit the Corvette.

ah so it DOES then' date=' me and Jurrasic figured that since the car didnt have a trunk ferrari label, instead it had a markadian label on the trunk along with 350 GTS when it was new along with possibily this M mark on its nose for markadian/mcburnie:[img']http://www.autolit.net/Graphics/0810/c3990.jpgEingefügtes Bildthat the prancing horses might have been left off of the turn signal lenses on purpose as it was being labeled and marketed as a markadian 350 gts, not a ferrari daytona replica back in 81/82 and it looked like in the show and some of the behind the scenes photos to not be there, actually this one, the one Jarma uses as his avatar in particular seems to be minus itEingefügtes Bildhence why it was sort of a like hey what the hey kind of moment when I was looking at Jurrasics photo there and noticed it on the car.and yeah I know the car wasnt lost and that you have all the documents and all that. I was just making a point that without that kind of stuff its easy for that stuff to seemingly get lost permanently in the sands of time with anything really. but cars especially given how quickly the looks of a car can be changed so drastically just by a simple paint job and a new set of rims and tires, not to mention the vin number actually if the car is stolen and its a high profile car.as I had come across a story by the ferrari classic center where a daytona had been stolen and had its vin changed to that of another daytona, passed on as that car for about 30 years and then only showed up as a stolen car when the classic center was doing a research pack on the car for the owner in italy about 6 years ago and found there was two cars of that serial number that had come through the classic center.although that being said it would be best to probably have two versions of the photos, hard copy, ala physical old school photos and digital ones as technolgy overtime has a tendancy to degrade quite abit faster than a hardcopy when it comes to storage devices.and car 4 actually has a Michale Mann letter to go with it? cool! I thought it was just the universal thing and the 1984 title.

Thanks on the cover comments as I know you know your Corvettes. Just curious why you suggested the C4 cover, however, as my chassis is a C3? I'll have to check the Mid America site you suggest as I have not been there. I have to find one that would accommodate the flared (on top) front fenders as well as the left rear power antenna stub. Maybe the Vette shape is close enough on that? Just needing to be soft under and not necessarily weather proof as I don't ever leave the car outside.

Never heard of digital storage degrading and would think that would be unlikely. Software can change but picture file standards will likely survive. Re the Michael Mann letter that would be something to see if you feel like sharing' date=' CD.[/quote']I've never had it happen to me personally but my brother who was abit of a geek and built alot of his own computers said that a normal DVD-R CD usually lasts about 7 or 8 years.although I found CD's I burned myself with music on them from about 2000 and they still work so his estimate may have been abit off but I also havent used those CD's in about 12 years.and with any harddrive if any sort of a magnet goes near it thats the end of them to my knowledge.Plus nonetheless a physical copy of the photos is less likey to get lost in the shuffle of any sort of moving or get lost to the sands of time given the amount of size the photos and the negatives would take up, hell my mothers fathers photos from the war surived it in damn good condition just because probably. all the more shocking considering he was on the german side as a member of the german air force, reconnaissance, and none of my german family were ever members of the Nazi party, hence why he survived the war as he was moved to norway in 44' away from all of the fighting around the center of germany.and he took ALOT of photos, all of which are in damn good condition along with his flight records, even got some of greece apparently.thing about the C4 though would be probably because of the length of the body, the body is very straight and probably longer compaired to a typical C3 which has that coke bottle style body on it with a solid front chrome bumper and two separate ones on the rear pre 74' and a tight fitting one probably would be too short on the sides because of the Coke Bottle style doors while on the daytona replicas it was straightend out and evened out like on the C4.

The later C4s (91-96) were about 179 inches in length. The later C3s (81-82) were 185.3 inches, and actually, the C1 and C2s were only a little shorter than the C4s. So, it would seem that a cover for the C4s should fit the Daytona well. Plus, I like the little "pouches" that some of the covers have to go over the side mirrors (see photo). As a practical matter, I would guess you will find they are sold as "one size fits all". Good luck - let us know how you come out.

I think mine are identical to the Camera Cars' date=' and they are the baby tornadoes.Don't know about the front markings, but as far as I know the round headlights came much later in the builds. All the first four would have been 4x6 headlights.[/quote']Actually from looking at several screen shots of the mirrors of car 4 in the show, they look to have a slightly different shape to me than my Baby Tornados. And they always seemed to be slightly longer in some of the screen shots I have seen vs my Baby Tornados. There is one screenshot I have seen somewhere with Crockett sitting in the car alone and the mirror struck me as being slightly longer and deeper than my Baby Tornados. I'm hoping I am not seeing some camera effect but the mirror did look larger to me. This was the only one I could find but I have seen other screen shots that seemed to show the mirrors larger and having a slightly more deep frame. vs Mine:So I watched Ebay for some regular tornados and found this set, in metal (though I have no idea what material was used on the mirrors in the Show):So I emailed the seller and asked him to measure the regular Tornados and here is what he said ...the measurements of my Baby Tornado are shown to the right of each of his: Body width ( case ) = 7 1/4 " (vs mine.. BT at 6 3/8")Case Height = 4 3/8 " (vs BT at 3 7/8") Depth , frame and mirror back = 3 1/4 " (vs BT at 2 1/2") Foot Length = 5 " (vs BT at 4 7/8") Width = 1 1/4 " (vs BT at 1 1/4") Mirror = 6 3/8 " X 3 1/2 " (vs BT 5 1/2" X 3 1/4") frame width = 1 1/4 " (vs BT at 1 3/16") So if anyone has some better screen shots of Car 4 in the show we may see what I am referring to. I always thought the mirrors on the Show car had a slightly different Case shape and appeared slightly longer than my Baby Tornados. And the fact that these are metal (vs mine in plastic) could explain, assuming the show used metal mirrors, why I see the Car4 mirrors out of position often in the episodes as the weight of the metal on the foot bearings may cause them to shift or droop in the hot sun.Just something I have been wondering about for sometime after seeing a couple closeup screenshots somewhere.

Thank you for that info, CameraDaytona...very much appreciated and I would not have thought to go for the C4 size cover. I have been without a cover now for 2 years and just got the car detailed a couple months ago, so I do need to order a cover.Great idea also on asking for one with mirror pouches. Maybe the antenna stub opening is not a big deal. Interesting that the C3 Vettes were actually longer than the Daytona bodies added on to the C3 chassis.

yeah I thought the same thing too actually, as I had noticed it seemed a touch longer lengthwise in the daytona drive from glades here

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlLdi0YpGII

at 0:20 vs how your car looked at the same angle when you showed us a shot from vaguely the same angle and I remember coming across something on an alfa forum when looking for mirror ideas where it said the construction of tornado mirrors was steel and could be painted, while the baby T's are plastic but I wasnt sure if he ment baby or if there was a different kind that he was reffering to that could be painted.although I think plastic mirrors can be painted, it just require a specialist to do it and someone really taking there time sanding it down as they might be more prone to warping under the heat the sandpaper would create, hell could possibily use the vinyl body wrap thing for that too.and I dont think the mirrors being moved around was caused by the weight I think they were moved to get out of the way of the camera rig.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6606&stc=1&d=1344306549 I mean after all look at this shot and remember that in the pilot the car had those mirrors on it yet the camera was angled heavily to the left on dons side where the mirrors would have been and the same on PMT's Side and I swear in one of the closeups in tales of the goat it looked like they may have taken the mirror off when they were at the arcade for whatever reason on I think PMT's side.so they might have just moved it around to get it out of the way of the camera whenever needed, a benefit of not having fixed mirrors I guess unlike what the TR had, also note no ferrari emblem on the right turn signal there in this shot from El Viejo

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwgiRApDmkA

at a time when car 1 had been taken apart already in an atempt to make a tr stuntcar out of it, so that is definitely car 4 in this shot

they look longer in this oneAnd even my mirrors moved/drooped in our recent midwest heatwave when driving at speed, where we have routinely seen upper 90F temps similar to Miami in summer. I had to add some strong Loctite to keep them from doing this and mine are lightweight plastic frames. So I suspect the drooping mirrors on the show cars had the same issue.

and yeah thats kind of why I was looking at other mirrors as I was wondering why there seemed to be such a size difference between them, like why is my eye catching some sort of difference between the mirrors of your car and car 4and also where did you put the locktight on them? at the top by the mirror housing or at the bottom by the stem?maybe it was a twofer then, they may have gotten in the way of the camera in some shots and maybe also drooped, hell maybe thats why they seemed to be off in that one shot in tales of the goat as they were driving through a constricted space on the sidewalk between pillars and didnt want to risk damaging them.at 4:06 here, just seems like in one shot, the long shot of them driving up their there

and then at 4:06 there not on the car

lol you know seeing car 4 like that I keep expecting to see Crockett walk in and just yank the cover off of his old car like Penn from Pen and Teller did with the 58 Caddy in the prodigal son and just drive off.

Though JN in his post says his are the same as that on Car4 today, and his are the Baby Tornados. So it could be that the mirrors were changed after the show and someone thought the Baby Tornados looked better or that my eye is off in what I see in these screen caps. Wouldn't be the first time I know. As to the loctite, I used the red one, I believe, which is the strong bonding version and applied it where the mirror arm meets the mounting foot, right in the ball joint as that is where the mirror arm moves when heated up to high temps.

Don't know but I'm betting they either drooped from the high heat or were bumped during the scenes as they can be easily jarred out of position if bumped.

Yeah and I bet Don Johnson would give anything to see his baby again. I read somewhere a while ago that he preferred the Daytona to the Testarossa and those of us who own one know why.

possibile that it was switched however there is a way to tell just from your discovery, all camera has to do is use a trick my old man used with his model 39 to see if its a steel frame back in the day.take a magnet and see if it sticks on the outside of the housing, if its steel we know its the original tornados, if not its the baby tornados, after all outside of the length difference if he didnt know about it, it would be kind of hard to tell in person really, I mean jurrasic said he was thrilled just to see the thing in person so he might have missed that.cant blame him for that after all loland yeah with the TR I mean he did from what I understand have a Porsche 959 back in the day (along with a Trimph or an MG like the one used in Smuglers blues to smash into the 67 mustang with a manual box in one of the behind the scenes photos on here) according to Top Gear when they did a segment on the 959 and the F40 which he might have actually traded the silver TR they gave him in 89 on and yeah I mean the TR aint a daily driver and the front end just doesnt work, hence why for every revision of the testarossa there was a major change to the front endonce in 89 with the turn signals being made into a split one half white and half yellow to make it seem less blocky, then again in 92 with the 512TR, and again with the 512M and the koenig one which actually seemed to do a far better job of fixing it than ferrari ever did.not to mention the gearshifting effort, clutch effort, the abnormally wide rear track and no power steering, it was probably a work out to even drive the thing to the set every morning and the gas mileage and octane level, probably had to be detuned to even work on 91 octane here by ferrari north americawhere the european standards are 95, 98 and 101 octane at about double the cost per gallon, while diesel is better regulated there and cheaper than all of the above over there instead of being taxed out of existance here by our goverment and not being regulated properly to the point where I know of someone who had the engine ruined by bad diesel with a high sulfer level here in a new VW here in MAand with a 30 gallon tank on the TR to make sure your not gassing up mid long distance trip at high speedbasically hell in a handbasket and you cant even get it out of second gear unless you put the police lights on it and the handbreak is on the wrong side, the left side of the seat, probably why the car sounded like it stalled in the 180 turn in Down for the count part 2he had to in his left hand pull the handbreak and then jerk the car to the left with his right, leaving no hand free for the gearshift lever to downshift when he came to a stop, all that without any power steering!I mean hell atleast the countach had the same track rear and back and the handbreak in the right place, hell just because of that the bad guys countach probably would have been easier to live with than the TR in Bought and Paid for chase and those things dont have any rear visibilty period.I do like the TR for the record but jesus christ talk about giving up the farm comfort wise and it looks way too blocky in the front and well interior wise the only thing I think it had over the daytona was the gated shifter (a lost art on the modern ones, there all paddle shifters now) with a black shift ball, cool looking non chrome capped pedals (I know the D didnt have that but alot of cars seem to have that now) and the shape of the seats.I kind of like them on the TR as they seem somehow more performance orented like the pre 77 seats but well if car 4 had retained its pilot seats that pretty much means the only thing I liked about the tr interior wise was the gated shifter and that also has been replicated on the daytona replicas:Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildalbiet its abit rough on this one and needs a little work, probably because of the replica daytona dash and center console, it would probably look better if it was on a normal CC and dash like on car 4but even then I do like car 4's seats as is, I just kind of think the original seat design was more in tone with the look of the car than the straight 78 seat top, and it just seems like it needs the matching tonau to blend it better with the car while the original ones didnt.although I dont remember hearing about him openly saying somewhere that he prefered the daytona, I do know that the cuda was probably a hell of alot easier to live with than the TR though, although it did have a manual box and a 360 CI crate motor in it so the daytona probably trumps even the cuda in the livability respect as that one has discs in the front and drums in the rear and a live axelwhile the daytona is all around disc breaks and has an independant rear suspension with leaf springs in the rear atleast on the stock ones I believe.still even then I am a mopar man and wouldnt say no to either, TR yes no thanks (and if I was dying for a wedge shapped 1980's car I'd do like most of them do who are countach fans like me and go a lotus S1 or S2 in its place as a car that can be turned into a daily driver) but with the cuda or the daytona now theres a hard choice.

This might sound like a goofy question to the Ferrari scientists here, but I'm curious: Do you know of any Ferraris that are/were manufactured as automatics? And are/were any of the retrofitted/kit cars automatics? I imagine the camera cars used in Vice were automatics for ease of use while filming, but I just don't know.Sorry if this is an ignorant question. I just don't know much about Ferraris. Thanks.

Mine are discs all around and I have an oversized leaf in the rear and heavy duty suspension. Makes for a stable fast turn but rough ride around town.

Who did the work, if you know? On my suspension, I think I commented on this before, but the Vette shop that used to work on my car told me my suspension was a custom job, and was major overkill in terms of sway bar diameter and rear leaf springs, mounted in an inverted position. They told me the sway bar diameter could handle a much bigger vehicle as could the springs but that is what McBurnie called a Racing Suspension upgrade on the invoice to the original buyer. They told me I could take turns at 90mph and still have a stable ride, though I think that was an exaggeration. But it is stable at fast turns and is rock solid over humps and turns, and the tradeoff is that you feel every little bump around town with such a rigid suspension. I don't know if the springs and stabilizer bars added much weight, wouldn't think a huge amount. I do need to do some carb work and emissions removal still on the car as a project for maybe the late Fall.

Okay gents' date=' here's the news...I started a new job today which is significantly better than the one I was at before (I've been paying my dues for some time now). So assuming I keep this gig you'll see quite a few updates from me over the next several months as I get my baby into fighting shape and start making some changes, mostly to make her a little more "Vice-like". Going to stay red for the time being but will get her mechanically in mint condition, change out the spinners, change out the side mirrors, change out the seats, put an "Eye-Talian" horn in it, possibly get the Vice-correct Momo steering wheel, add some Rowley shocks to the hood and trunk, etc etc etc. Pics to come as I finally get this project car under way!!-Brian W[/quote']Cool, Brian. Let us know if we can help.

So those shots of the interior were of a replicar then? Who did the work' date=' if you know? as I found a youtube video of some couple at a drivng school and he mentioned in great detail of how it works when Alleycat asked me about what the pedal was awhile back, just out of dumb luck.

Camera Daytona can tell you more, but the brake pedal is for rear brakes only. A common stunt car addition that allows you to steer the wheel while the car slows (prior to anti-lock). With this you could steer through an obstacle, or do bootleg turns, etc. The car has a seperate brake system for the other pedal.
