Here we go with everyone's favorite...... Miami Vice by way of the X-Files! "Missing Hours" has some redeeming quality in that it features Trudy, PMT, Stan & we get quite a few laughs- "Is it creamy or is it crunchy?" Also from the little green men remarks, mainly by Crockett. I enjoyed hearing James Brown do "I Feel Good." What I didn't like the most was the way nothing really made sense, & there was no point to the whole story. At least in "The Big Thaw" we had a comedy & a story of the wife trying to get Rollibard's money. Trudy really looked like she was having LSD hallucinations. I liked Chris Rock in this & the laughs so I'll give it a 4/10.

I watched this a few weeks back. I tried yet I can't say much about this episode. Trudy in blue...Yeah BABY...Other than that, nope. Not much comes to mind and I'm not going to suffer thru this episode again to TRY to come up with something useful. The sky changes color, James' head appears, and then Trudy's face is there...? Kinda creeps me out. Sorry, this is just a lousy episode...-10 from me...A classic dark spot in season four...:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::sleep::sleep::sleep: What were the producers thinking on this one..?:birdie::birdie::confused:...Mike

Haha although -10 seems very tempting, I will give this pile of **** a fair review.

The sky changes color' date=' James' head appears, and then Trudy's face is there...? Kinda creeps me out. [/quote']After watching this episode a few times, admittedly to laugh at how awful it is, I still can't figure what the hell this part of the episode means??? I actually wan't to ask whoever thought of this part of the episode, what in god's name does this mean? This episode is overall pretty terrible, poor acting all round, the most ridiculous storyline to ever grace a cop show I'm sure ... if any TV shows today want to see how to ruin a good TV show in 45 minutes, Missing Hours would be the best example. That all said Missing Hours is not the worst Miami Vice has to offer, cough Leap of Faith cough ... in fact I'd even rather watch this than Everybody's in Showbiz! The Hammer/Peterson score isn't that bad, quite good in places actually and the Scarab scenes are quite good. Plus as much as I hate Noogie, I loved his quote 'I told you you can't trust white people', made me laugh and also from Crockett, 'I'm not going to go and chase little green men with you' to Tubbs. So yes this episode is horrific, but atleast it's amusing in places. I still can't get my head round the Trudy's face on James Browns weird scenes. 2/10

It wasn’t me for sure! What the hell is this episode about? It’s too weird to be funny. I have no clue why Ate de Jong took this job. I remember all he could do when he was back in Holland was complaining about DJ’s bad attitude. Well, I would be a little cranky too if I had to play in such a ridiculous episode! :D

My original reveiw of Missing Hours Posted: 11 December 2007OK, Since I'm writing my own comments and plan to put them together in a binder some time, I've decided to split my post on missing hours. I'm going to give you my review first. The next post will contain what I think the plot was supposed to be in my point of view. Missing Hours over the years has actually become a favorite episode of mine. I rate it a 6.5 It's not in my top 10 or even top 25, but I do sort of like it. It's a really interesting idea which was written poorly, or at least the final product was written poorly. How much of this was because of the writers' strike I don't know. What I like: 1.Scenes: The opening scene where Stan and Trudy are on a stake out at the shopping center (Was that the Coco Walk in different colors than it is today?) I love the shot where we see Stan behind the Ice Cream stand and Trudy on one of the higher floors, and Noogy and Izzy enacting some sort of fake battle in costumes. Although Why was it necessary for Izzy and Noogy to be there? I liked the scene of Rico with Lou out in the country with the Jacob's ring on the ground. I found this scene humorous, and I liked the feel of the scene. I liked the whole different look as Rico ran the government men off the cliff and they rolled down the hill. (That hill was pretty rocky why didn't the car explode instead of them landing right side up?.) The motel scene where the big light shines on Sonny and Rico and the Testarossa. I liked that the sign followed the space theme. I also liked Sonny's comment when the sign turned to no vacancy when he pulled up. Trudy's apartment. I liked seeing Trudy's apartment and the scenes between her and Gina there. Scenes with the scarab (nuff said). Light show at Astro -life presentation. OCB scenes from Carson watching outside the OCB briefing room and then barging in, Sonny getting something from the fridge and Rico startling him. Scenes of people working at OCB and the different shots of what makes up the squad room. 2. OCB gang: Everybody was in this episode. Crockett's attitude; Rico's "search for little green men" ;The Interaction between Gina and Trudy - Here you see Gina and Trudy really acting like partners besides being on the job, the genuine care and trust between them; Castillo's treatment of this ridiculous case as standard procedure; His real concern about his detective Trudy; Stan being in the opening scene with Trudy kind of a different pairing than usual. 3. Music: "I feel Good I got you" I've always liked this song, and I think it's pretty ironic that in Trudy's case after her incident, the song which always made her feel good makes her feel bad and scared. Trudy:" When I hear it I get a real horror." Other music that was used in this episode sounded appropriately creepy. Other times the music sounded energetic and confusing (the light show) which was also appropriate for this confusing hodge podge of an episode. 4. The Idea (though not the execution of it.): I'm a sucker for Government conspiracy stories, and this one jived with what I heard about the LSD experiments in the 60's. Things I didn't like: 1. Execution of this story and the way it was told. 2. The cheesy effects with Olivia Brown's face inside a cut out of James Brown's face. Was this supposed to symbolized Trudy out of her mind? or perhaps Lou into Trudy's mind? 3. The totally unnecessary ambiguity of the ending with Trudy waking up and going into her office and finding the unburned picture of the houseboat, and the jar of peanut butter. It should have either ended with her waking up thus this was only a dream, or it should have ended either after the houseboat blew up, or with some sort of OCB ending with everyone back to work as normal. After all this negative feeling for the episode I still think the idea was good, and surmised that this might have been what they were after from the different scenes in the story. Only read the next post if you're interested. Otherwise consider this post done.4/13/2010 - I recently watched this episode again. It has some great scenery, and some great lines in this hodg-podge. I still feel the same way except this this poll doesn't do half points, I'll raise it to a 7. It was different, it had everybody in it, and it my take on it is anywhere near correct, it was an interesting idea. however the execution of and telling of this story and plot was poor.

[/quote']I was thinking about this when I watched it too. I felt that finding the unburned picture of the houseboat though is still feasible in a dream concept. She burned the picture at the point she had just got nuts, so therefore in reality she would have found the picture and peanut butter jar before going nuts and before meeting Lou De Long. Then she got 'taken away' and then she went insane. Personally, I think she went on a night out with Lou De Long, got absolutely hammered, drugged up by those dodgy people in suites and then had a very interesting dream and a terrible hangover the next day.But still even when writing this I'm confused about several things in my own concept. Your right though nmathews, this episode is so poorly written and therefore that's why it's so easily open to interpretation.

My Idea what this episode was suppoed to be about.Quote nmathews Quote Reply Posted: 11 December 2007 at 10:24pm What I think the plot of Missing Hours was: . Bear with me for a moment, Stan and Trudy are on a stake out for the porno guy. Acres along with two other men following close behind him is behind the porno guy. Acres takes one look at the logo on Noogie's space helmet and begins to get scared and freaked out. His trigger must have been a space logo, like Trudy's was I Feel Good. Now I assume that Acre's had a shopping bag full of drugged peanut butter (although he didn't know it was drugged) he had been dosed with this stuff on a continuing basis and freaked when he saw the logo on Noogie's helmet. He threw his bag of jars which broke, began having a heart attack he was so frightened and went diving toward Noogie and continued on through the glass door since Noogie and Izzy got out of the way. Every thing shattered and Trudy bent down to see if Acres was OK. Now the action froze there, but how many times have we seen Sonny, Rico, Trudy or anybody else on vice check the pulse at the neck to see if the person is still alive. In this case Trudy probably absorbed some of Acres bodily fluids including his blood, which was full of the drug. We saw that there was blood on her clothes and it was mentionedd that there was alot of blood. Most likely his blood was saturated with the drug since Acres was continually dosed this probably infected Trudy. Remember the two guys in black suits were behind Acres and saw the whole thing. We know that they got a hold of Trudy somehow because after the body disappeared, the assistant Coroner said that Trudy with two attendants from Biscayne Mortuary picked up the body. I assume the two guys were the same guys following Acres. They somehow got everybody dosed enough with this drug that can be absorbed through the skin to not make any good records or think anything was unusual until later. It also must cause hallucinations maybe through suggestions. We know Trudy was absent from work and was not at home so I assume she was with these guys. Later on when Trudy is more or less back to herself she decides to check-out the houseboat because she "saw Acre's artery popping" and doesn't believe in spontaneous healing. She goes to the houseboat and looks around. She picks up one of the open peanut butter jars, puts it down and then looks around. The coo-koo clock begins coo-kooing and Trudy begins hallucinating and laughing. She sees Lou Delong as the way she's always thought of him, even though he's obviously older now. Why lou was there, I don't know but it was obvious that he was told to go to the houseboat (probably by Travis) so Trudy would see him. Maybe Lou didn't want to own up to it, and was just doing what his sponsors told him to do I'm not sure about this, but he gives himself away (if anyone was listening,) when he tells Trudy to think look at him just like on the Houseboat. Lou wasn't supposed to know anything about Trudy's whereabouts last night) All Sonny and Rico asked him was if he took Trudy to a Club. All Trudy talked about was the club, and being kissed in her apartment and him signing her record. Anyway we know later it's mentioned that Trudy's blood from the medical workup had traces of elements which are found in hallucinogenic drugs although they could be explained away by a common cause. Now comes the government cover up part. Rico sets a trap for the two guys he's convinced is behind this after Lou tells him about meeting his sponsors and giving him the Astro life session tapes. Rico gets the two men to take him to their leader, which turns out to be some government blackops project location. He's told that there's an experiment going on about some military weapon which the government doesn't want to see fall in the wrong hands and bargained way as part of a disarmament negotiation. They also go on to tell him they've used other sites such as Elcho Nevada. They also explain that they're just a blip on the radar screen in Dade County compared to all the drugs and everything else that goes on there. They also say that Lou's group has been helpful in getting feedback from the sightings and how to debunk them. He then warns Rico not to put anything in his report that he can't prove. So all this mess is a government conspiracy to hide the fact that we're developing a weapon while we're talking disarmament. I don't think Lou is really a part of this. He's kind of a dupe or just a con man that wants to be duped. Travis is in on it. Carson knows something. I'm not sure he knows the particulars, but he does work for Travis. Now I'm not sure if they thought they had to get rid of Trudy or what but obviously she's called by Carson to come to his computer bulletin board at Metro Dade police station. Then when Sonny and Rico find her She's quite out of it, and well on her way to oblivion. Rico scoops her up and Trudy is still lucid enough to tell him she's OK. Sonny grabs Carson, and comes face to face with Travis who says that the houseboat belongs to Astro-life now. Travis takes possession and Sonny gets everybody away. Travis waits until Sonny is out of harm's way as he blows the houseboat, hence getting rid of the evidence of all the electronic equipment and whatever peanut butter and drug residue might be left. I don't know if Travis was planning on blowing up Carson, Trudy, and himself, but I wouldn't put it past him if he was fanatic enough about this project. As to the blackops project. It must have been some sort of flying machine and it acted like a giant electromagnet. Could this be the beginning of HAVOC (from fifth season) It also stopped motor vehicles and shut them down. Anyway just some thoughts about this confusing episode. This episode was never about space aliens, it was about our government running a blackops and trying to cover it up when they're experiments didn't go the way they had planned. Evidently the blackops had been going on in different places for many years. Travis was probably some kind of spook. I'm not sure What Carson was maybe an assistant spook.

Lame, were they trying to be artsy, spooky, or what?Nancy influenced my vote on this episode, I'm going to rate higher but not as low as I thought. I hate having to fling mud at any ep of Vice.Bottom Line: The part that killed it for me was the alien spotbeam part. That's what made the ep lame and tough to recover. As I watched yesterday, I asked myself, "What elements could have been removed for me to give it a higher score?- Obviously the alien/phone-booth scene was beyond awful.- The hallucinogenic special effects were probably just "o.k." for the time and age. Did not like it when they made the cut-out of James Brown and put Trudy's head there. So that detracts. - Unless I'm missing something, some of the symbols' meanings weren't resolved well (peanut butter) for all the times you saw them present in the story. - Chris Rock's character (not Chris himself) was annoying.I respect that they tried to do a unique episode, a creative episode, maybe a post-modern mystery for the senses where saying "less is more." This minimalism makes the audience have to interpret the symbols and results on their own without being guided by the author, and may make for a spooky feeling. I wish we knew what the scriptwriter and Michael Mann et. al. were trying to accomplish with this ep so we had a greater appreciation.

Two comments for Nancy:1. I concede that if this was a secret gov't project, maybe the feds could've had a chopper or something else send down that beam from overhead in order to try and psyche out C&T. There should've been more cues to let the audience pick up and run with a theory like that, but plot continuity can be really hard to pull off. 2. Maybe Trudy put some of the peanut butter from the scene in her purse or got it out of the trash after the evidence folks were done with it. Why waste delicious peanut butter. I like it when Rico and Stan look at each other and say, "Smooth? Or crunchy!!!!"
