Ways to live the style

Hello,

this may not have been used in Miami Vice, but I think it's very close to a season 3 Jacket worn ... (not my listing, very tempted to buy it myself)

Hi! Welcome to the site!

That’s a great jacket. I’ve been seeing it on ebay for some time now. Some things about it you may already know:

It’s a women’s jacket (buttons left over right).

It is, indeed, the same designer and pattern as the jacket Crockett wears in many season 3 episodes (“By Hooker By Crook” for one), but a different color.

There is a similar styled blazer (like the Versace one above) in a Hong Kong movie called ''Yes, Madam'' (1985). Seems that the Vice style was also ruling in Asia as well by that time.

Sorry for the slight off topic but I could not resist :P

Here are some pastel colors worn by an American martial art film actress Cynthia Rothrock from the film Righting Wrongs (1986) and the Vice style suits used by triad members from the film School On Fire (1988).

I guess this post would be great in some topic specifically created for showing Vice style clothes in other movies and/or media.

This is interesting. We should start a new thread about all and any examples of Vice style being worn, past or present. But I think one may already exist, just a dead thread.

Great find. It's very hard to find jackets like that.

The pattern is also similar to the one worn in Bought and Paid For and Definitely Miami:

Only it's not a shirty-blazer like what Crockett wore.

I actually like the one you found better than the shirt-type blazer. It basically just looks like a long-sleeve shirt with lapels.

That brand, Howe, seems to be the only brand that has horizontally striped jackets. I've got my eye on one.

Well you may ask how I am living the lifestyle..........let me tell you.

Went to Pottahawk in Lake Erie the first Sunday in July. It's a small island about 18 miles as the crow flies from Port Dover - off Long Point and usually thouusands of boats gather each year. This year was a bit light at around 2500 or so but it was still good. I could not believe how many young people recognized the boat and many came to talk to me about it.

I walked in the waist deep water in the silky sand and hung out with many partying young folks (I just turned 60 but feel 30) Danced to a little EDM with the pups and topless ladies there. There were a lot of boats from the 80's there such as a fabulous looking Sonic and many others, but as I said many people were intrigued by my MV Edition boat.

I had a wonderful time and made many new friends.

Simply spiffing!

Now, a friend of mine was asking for some photographic evidence of the topless ladies? :) ;)

Dadrian, these outfits are really top notch, timless and cool! Particularly that grey suit with the blue shirt really rocks the house! It's living proof that some of the MV style holds up really well to the day. You can wear this anytime on many occasions without being too obviously "vice styled" or drawing any suspicion of you being on the way to a theme party, like it would be the case with some of the over-the-top S2 fashion.

Right at this minute, I am sitting in a rented convertible at a gas station in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, where I just spent half an hour cruising down palm tree adorned boulevards at night, with the top down, listening mainly to "In The Night" by Russ Ballard

Las Palmas is probably my favorite city this side of the Atlantic. A vibrant urban center of almost 400,000 people that feels downright Latin American in all the right ways. Beautiful scenery, palm trees aplenty tucked between high-rise buildings and along shopping streets, a sizeable seaport,  one of the world's best downtown oceanfront beaches, and all of it in year-round 75 to 80 degree weather.

I go to the Canaries on vacation about once a year, and then always rent a convertible for the week, utilizing the generous discounts that price comparison web sites make possible... :) no really, this time I got a real steal, it's 65 percent off the regular Avis price.

So anyway... ways to live the Vice style, yeah... I think I've done about enough of that for tonight... :)

Going down the GC-1 one more time before my flight home leaves in three hours, listening to Caribbean Queen by Billy Ocean... :radio::)

This section of the oceanfront freeway going into Las Palmas somehow always reminds me of being in Los Angeles... isn't there a part of Los Angeles along the Interstate 5 or something that looks very similar?
