Kavinsky
Normally I stay off the twitter feeds but this just showed up on the news feed on there https://twitter.com/verge/status/583659985474867200https://twitter.com/gentra/status/583881767754412032 Looks like all 3 are leaving along with Clarkson, personally I would have just suspended him without pay for 6 months and or replaced him with Chris Harris in that meantime, as he's more or less a clarkson type, except he likes the testarossa, and the F50 Clarkson didnt, so My Personal three to replace them would be him, Harry Metcalf and Mike Musto, both seen here rather than the 5th gear guys, I mean tiff is a nice guy, but considering how they do health and safety things like this I really dont want to see top gear turn into dont speed the musical. something with all give, running into a brick wall at a 120? and your surprised it turned into that? and then you have the nerve to say that this is the reason while you shouldnt speed, all the while your doing this no just no, I dont want top gear to turn into the teachers pet program, especially when they neglect to show and demonstrate how much of a life saver a roll bar is on a convertible, like on this autobahn flip over with an SL500 with a built in roll bar. and shut up jack walsh, its the autobahn, I'll speed if I bloody well want to. but there is some twitter gold out there as well concerning this https://twitter.com/_ArriveAlive/status/583877457020903424https://twitter.com/CarWaffle/status/583879671755988993https://twitter.com/steven_chrisp/status/583281364784553985 although its a damn shame to see this era end, but honestly I hadnt been watching top gear for awhile until the Argentinia Episode aired after I heard about all the fuss, and even then I youtubed it rather than putting up with the gazzilion ads for Orphan Black and doctor who that BBC america puts on constantly as nothing says confidence in your shows like shoving it down everyones throats every 5 minutes, and the USA network was the same way, and I nearly stopped watching burn notice for that very reason right before the end. not because I didnt like the show, I was just so sick of being bombarded by it and you must watch this that and the other thing, I mean its enough to make you wanna punch someone, hmmmm did they have a telly on at that place where Clarkson was eating? also the song I'm listening to right now is actually quite fitting to this situation Dire Straits - Calling Elvis also Harry Donated that Countach to one of James May's programs, Cars of the people and knows Chris as well note the plate, so its not like a bunch of unknowns taking over and changing the wallpaper. Administrators James Posted April 3, 2015 Administrators Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 I had a feeling this would happen, and I am glad that they are all sticking together on this. Top Gear is finished, it was finished as soon as they fired Jeremy. Here's hoping that they come back and make their own new motoring show. RIP Top Gear. It was one of my favourite shows, 90% because of Jeremy.
Kavinsky
Yeah the BBC have never been fans of Rebel Rousers it seems, I'm honestly surprised it survived as long as it did given their state sponsored bureaucratic nonsense, I'd bet they were just waiting for something like this to happen so they could dump him Actually if I could I would send Jeremy Clarkson that model I aquired recently as a retirement president, but postage from MA to where ever he is in england would be super expensive and he'd probably be like who the hell are you lol its a 1:43 Looksmart Alfa Romeo 8C, and honestly since that aired for the first time I've always thought, you know I oughta get a model of that, as it sounds like a Countach and a Daytona had a baby, you know a real car, not just an easy to drive Audi hurican with an italian badge on the hood, you know something that is actually pure italian in the way it does things, not just a rebadged reworked Audi R10 with a lambo badge on the nose. and I did like half a month or so ago, although the spider is to die for compaired to that. even damaged like the one I have, as sadly the lady I bought it from dropped it and wasnt going to sell it, but since I had bought like 4 of them before at that point, 1/43 models I mean, including a Miami Vice car that will be posted soon, she decided to sell it to me at a reduced rate. and its all because of that video that I even knew about it and decided to look for one, So thanks Jerremy, its just a bloody pitty they didnt get to the La Ferrari, Jaguar XE four door (the return of the Mark 2 in my mind) https://www.flickr.com/photos/127723475@N08/15193970191https://www.flickr.com/photos/127723475@N08/15193968291/in/photolist-nwyRC7-p9SJih-oSqqQ5-p7SBqf-p7SCrd-p9D4qx-p9D4Zi-p9D5E6-p9D67D-p9SHy1-oSqrf3-p7SBaA-p9SHfW-oSphMz-oQ9Scy-oRVsEK-pAJxYC-kGp9fd-qEgYgq-pA45kH https://www.flickr.com/photos/52124449@N07/5967129570https://www.flickr.com/photos/m98lee/3787499282 the ultimate 1960's british gangster getaway car, as chances are if a crime TV show was set in england in the 1960's, a mark 2 was not far behind. and I think one other I was looking forward to. JSCrockett
The show couldn`t continue without Jeremy as you said, and now they have started the process to hire a new team. Top Gear with a new team will never be the same, but might also be an entertaining show.So if we are lucky someone else will pick up Jeremy, Richard and James, and we will have two good car shows. What do you think of the US version?
Kavinsky
They seem like alright guys, although they seem a little blandish. as part of the charm of the british one is you have these diverse personalities that interact, the smart and tech savy one, the crude and lewd one, and the small kind of meek guy who's got a car called oliver and he still has the thing too https://twitter.com/RichardHammond/status/579291161921204224 plus he is kind of artzy https://twitter.com/RichardHammond/status/578832366262693889https://twitter.com/RichardHammond/status/578123043177779200 and you dont really quite get that with the US version, they frankly get along too well, plus it seems like you could switch them out and easily replace them with the same archatype, as I've seen atleast two guys on the motor trend channel who are dead ringers for them to begin with at 16:30 mike and finn however are not, and that would be a key thing the new version would need to do, although I did really like their test driver I want to see more of him, and you can see him at 8:25 here the aulstralian one was the most interesting to me actually with the top gear spin off's, and they were doing a Top Gear Japan at one point, sadly if I remember correctly I think the auzzie one got axed. and I think if a new top gear is to succed it needs to have that kind of diverse personality clashes, after all I doubt anyone but Richard and Jeremy would purposedly ding each others doors whenever they get the chance like he did with the wrecked Mach 1 to the 928 in the final special there. What do you think of the US version? They can hire all the new guys they want, but it just will not work. The show was as successful as it was because of the chemistry between Jeremy, Richard, and James. (Just like Miami Vice and the chemistry between DJ and PMT ). It just works, and it can only work with them. Top Gear without them is like Two And A Half Men without Charlie Sheen, as soon as he got fired, they hired Ashton Kutcher and the show failed, ratings went down, and then they ended the show at it's lowest point. That is what will happen with Top Gear. I don't like the US version, I cannot take it seriously with American's there. It's Top Gear without British people. And the main guys don't have that chemistry between them, a pal of mine says it's just three Richard Hammond's. I find it awkward to watch. The Australian one was half-decent, but it got axed. Didn't last very long. I think they started and done a couple of seasons on SBS, then Channel 9 bought them and it only lasted one or two seasons there. Kavinsky
hmm the news gets worse it seems, the set has now been dismantled apparently https://twitter.com/AutoGTI/status/584015043009781761 also there was a news post that the live shows have now just been renamed the three hosts names and will go on as planned, with the last one ending on my birthday of all days according to BBC news http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-32137424 hmm happy birthday, you killed my dog lol although James atleast finally has time for his pies now of all things https://twitter.com/MrJamesMay Hmm I wonder if maybe they could get work with the Dave network, as it would be a blast to see new Top Gear and Red Dwarf on there, hell they might get it popular enough to have it finally carried on Verison Fios. and you gotta love that, yes show me all the orphan black and Teeny bopper Doctor Who in the world, but god forbid that I see the new season of red dwarf legtimately, a show I literally grew up with, what a bunch of smegheads lol Edited April 4, 2015 by Kavinsky

Detective_Crockett
Apparently they wanted our Mayor Boris Johnson to be a new Top Gear Host. But no, I'm glad the show has ended if those 3 have left, it just would not be the same.
Kavinsky
yeah I get the feeling that they may try and get the Fifth Gear guys back to take its place, but honestly I cant stand Fifth Gear. I dont like the dodgy blonde, the overly bland brown haired guy, and Tiff, well he seems to be faking it alot as I remember during the Viewers choice awards of the Ferrari's, when the TR was selected as their number one he seemed like he was doing a putup job. something about that face, Look up, shut eyes and say something nice at 0:40? if that's his poker face, he needs work, I Mean I like the guy, he has alot of interesting sort of insider info with cars but it rarely seems like he really loves anything that he works on and the whole way he did the video made me think that he really wanted to drive this instead or that 1st UK Tr with the special mods mr Metcalf has aquired of late https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/572882772626259968https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/573156565433380864https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/573189638564790273https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/575228408340312066 and those mods were done in period as well, god I cant wait for the video on that but its at the paint shop apparently. https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/573191836107448320https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/573192541656494081https://twitter.com/harrym_evo/status/577099352767918080 and it came complete with a cream interior, just like the vice car, and I must wonder if he's having it repainted in white or Nero Daytona, Black metalic, god I hope its in black. Stinger390X
Top Gear was one of my altime favourite shows! I have watched all 20 seasons of it and own the first fourteen on DVD (got a few to gather yet) It's a shame the show came to an end but I am so pleased to hear of the comradery of the guys to say "if Jeremy goes...we go" mentality. In all honesty I don't think they could find a new host that would have brought anything to the show. Remember Richard Dawson and the Family Feud? How many hosts have they had? ... and the show still sucks! I am going to miss the updates on the new European models as I was a big fan of the tech talk and I loved Jeremy's critiques, good or bad, as I feel he did his best to tell the truth and did it with a sense of humour, I never really got into the American version as it just didn't have the same chemistry or something? I can't put my finger on it, but it just did not do justice to the format. Yes...some of the episodes were interesting like the crossing of Lake Ontario with the floating cars (that was a laugh) but the stunts were not as good as the British version nor the goofy contests. Being a car buff I will miss it though and the driving on the track always intrigued me. I loved it when they took a coar out and beat the hell out of it to see what it was capable of. My absolute favourite episode qws when Jeremy was test driving a three wheeled Vauxall and he kept rolling it over on the turns and asking people to flip him back onto the wheels so he could carry on down the road.I never laughed so much!!! Mr. Calderon
I dont know about the english Top Gear, just the american one which is broadcasted here by the local History Channel. I must say i love this show, and that episode where they tried to cross the Ontario lake is very funny. http://www.streetfire.net/video/top-gear-america-04x06-20131029_part-1_2440568.htm

Kavinsky
Stinger I think my brother put it best, he told me that Jay Leno had said that a top gear america couldnt really work because they would have been afraid to bad mouth the sponsors cars and a distinct example of this happened in the american trip with the Challenger, C6 ZR1 and the Hotrod Caddie, where Hammond himself apparently had to purchase the Challenger because of the razzing they apparently gave Chrysler products on the show. although outside of the 300C review, I really dont remember them badmouthing them in any real way, and the 300 C is kind of a clunker, the old 2006 one that they were probably broken up over. and the same also happened with the trip into Niko's hometown, in Albania or something, the one where it was a Merc, BMW and instead of a bentley it was some Yugo thing and yeah wasnt that the little reliant robin, the car that they made to dodge the car taxes over there as it counts as a motorcycle with less tax rather than a full car, and instead of doing it like a morgan with the 2 wheels infront and the aft one rear, they did the reverse of this. causing all of those issues, and this was my intro to that Robin all of those years ago although I remember it being with the latter Neon Yellow Mini unless you put fat tires on them apparently, also the overtaking bit here would have prompted a proper pull over at that point, so these cops put people at risk by taking this recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAZowny30kU all in the name of evidence, your safety comes last lol and political correctness comes first apparently https://twitter.com/tiff_tv/status/583910404671328256https://twitter.com/neeljani/status/584044143153909760 and you wonder why clarkson did everything he could to piss everyone off there lol I would too if they did something that stupid here, oh my god women in skimpy outfits at a race, stop the presses! and then theres calling bond girls bond women its that kind of stupidity that drove people to create the countach in the first bloody place lol Edited April 8, 2015 by Kavinsky
Chloe
The Robin reliant. ...i'be had 1 trip in one when I was about 12 and my uncle had one, frightened me to death 😯It was also a car you didn't need a full driving test/licence for, again classed as a motorbike, although I believe that changed in later.Loved Jeremy continually rolling in one , hilarious, but it was genuinely like that! People put big turbos on them and make 1,000+hp Nah I've never really seen any rotary's out here, nor the lotus's save for maybe once in a blue moon the elise and a testla one based on it as the most I've seen import wise was a supra, and the GT 86's hell the only real exotic that's rolling around these parts seem to be F types, as theres a dealer about 25 miles from my home by the old 4 seasons sporting shop, so getting that and a lotus 7, be it in Kit form would probably be quite the endevour. there is an E type owned by the local airport owner though Edited April 17, 2015 by Kavinsky
