has anyone else lost their love of the bond series?

Okay, just for the heck of it:

OCB - MI6 (or Gold Coast Shipping/Universal Exports, as it was at the time)
Crockett - Bond (smoking, drinking, materialistic lifestyle, he's even ex-military)
Tubbs - Leiter
Castillo - M
Gina - Moneypenny
Trudy - ...okay, Trudy is actually the outlier, and that's good.  They are two separate franchises.
Switek/Zito - Q
Caitlin - Tracy (and he almost married a Theresa...)

Throw in a whole bunch of bad guys, weapons, explosions, scenery, music, and scantily dressed women.  Shake, don't stir (even if you are CR Craig and not giving a damn).

I personally think the best James Bond and most realistic agent was Timothy Dalton. He’s the victim of average stories, his movies just don’t hold up as well because of the storyline - not because of ‘his’ Bond.

I mostly agree with you @RedDragon86 ... Like you, I think TD is the best Bond, for the likeness with the description of Fleming and the spirit of 007 in the books.

I think " The Living Daylight " is really good for the era. You got everything from the James Bond world in the movie.

For me the Bond series jumped the shark with the last installment, No Time to Die. The first Craig films were good, but then tanked quite quickly into obscure nonsense (he fled with old "M"  to a lonely house in the middle of nowhere on purpose(!) to lure the villain there only then to be forced to defend himself with an old man and and wounded old lady and an old rifle against 25 high tech gangsters with a helicopter).

They turned Bond from the original immortal loner and secret service lady man with a good portion of self irony (Connery and even more Moore) to a (Craig era) brutal revenger with no humor and personality and then in the last movie in suddenly a whiny family man with wife and kid who sacrifices himself for a BS script reason ("you carry a deadly virus that will only kill your next of kin via DNA if you touch them but everybody else is safe").

They also killed Leiter and (also immortal) Blofeld.

Now I understand why the originally planned director for the last movie quit because he did not agree with this stupid farewell gift to Craig.

For me the Bond series is dead now. I see no reasonable possibility to continue unless they pull the same BS like with TV series Dallas in the 80s where the main character died and then came back next season with the explanation that the episode with his death was just a dream.

Shame on the producers that they ruined the longest running film series completely.

I always thought Daniel Craig was overrated ... Like Skyfall indeed :wuerg:

I agree with you and Tom, I personally loved the Bond films, I saw Goldfinger back in my early teens and was hooked after that and collected Bond stuff had all the movies and even lots of the clothes, Glasses watches etc.

That was until the last movie No Time To Die as it was woke garbage and I will not even add this DVD to my collection.

The timeless fashion in the Connery Movies and in George Lazenbys only movie OHMSS was fantastic.

I kind of agree with you that Craig was the weakest Bond of all, although his first movie Casino Royale was great in my humble opinion and he worked out hard for the part. After that his suits look like they have shrunk at the dry cleaners and look like something that Norman Wisdom may have worn.

I recently sold my extensive autograph collection and al my Bond watches apart from my Brosnan Seamaster but I still have my Bond sunglasses  and clothes that I wear from time to time.

I share a  pic of me in my replica OHMSS Blazer that I had made by Indy Magnoli some years ago and I am happy to say I have lost weight and can now wear it some more, lol

Without reading the whole thread, I’m assuming I’m the only one here who likes “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”(?). I may have even asked this already. ?( :)

GL was not a good Bond, but that film is really good IMO.

I’m fully prepared to be roasted… :)

I thought that George Lazenby was a great Bond in his only film and did most of his own stunts and fight scenes and he could carry style onscreen, I wish he had made more films. His manager told him that Bond was on the way out so he left and made the the action movie "Man From Hong Kong" which in its own way is worth seeing.
