Watched this episode recently and although not a great episode has some nice locations. 

I visited the FIU Campus/ Arena in 2014 - this was the arena seen as the judge drives up and enters as well as the interior scenes. However the long walkway looks like it is gone unless its in another area of the campus . The building looks quite different to 1986 - are we sure this was the building seen as the judge drives up and later seen when he talks to his son?

Yes, this bothered me when I studied this ep last year, but for some reason I didn't make any notes about it.  I'll look at it when I get a chance.  At times it looks like the arena but with some modifications, but then at other moments there are some things that don't look right.

The exterior arena scenes are not at the FIU Arena.  The building is different.  I don't even think they are on the FIU campus at all.  When he parks around 28:30, it appears the street has a median with grass and palm trees.  There are no streets with medians on the FIU campus.

I looked at Miami University, Miami-Dade College, FIU Bay Vista, several medical centers, and more but I can't find it.

If I get time this weekend I’d like to visit Elizabeth Virrick Park again in Coconut Grove.

Can i ask anyone again, on Jeremy’s page he had a photo of the railings to the park at Day and Plaza streets is there where Crockett and the judge had there talk? Seems to match up - of course the location was used again in “Too Much Too Late” and those locations are a lot easier to see.

In this pic - I’ve highlighted where Crockett and judge talked (C/J), the centre background (B/g) and the building we see behind Crockett as he walks up to the judge (demolished building, B on map).

Your drawing seems to be correct. In the Fix they only filmed on the outside of the park at the street corner with Crockett walking on the sidewalk past the metal chain fence and the judge sitting on the bench. In TMTL they only shot inside with CGlide doing an accurate scrutiny of the specific spots, revealing that they shot two scenes that were supposed to be before and after the kid‘s runaway on the exact spot.

The Courthouse establishing shot was actually El Presidio Park in Tucson, Arizona on W.Alameda Street of all places!
Obviously stock footage I discovered recently this location was featured in the 1980 movie “Stir Crazy” starring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

The Gulf Stream Race Track in Hallandale, it has been remodelled since then.

first time we have comparison pics of the FIU Tamiami campus sport hall, now called Ocean Bank Convocation Center at 12100 SW 8 Street. Opened on 1st February 1986, VICE filmed there two days later. The facade has been changed a bit, the interior is the same as then.

No these scenes were filmed on the east side of the building. If you watch carefully you can see a new road and a row of Royal palms right of the judge when he parks his car. That was called Runway Ave at the time of filming (was address on the location call sheet) and is E. Campus Circle now. SW 8 street is the postal address but Tamiami Trail is in fact a few hundred yards north of the sport center.

the hall exterior has changed most on the east side (main entrance). They built a new facade over the garage like omissions and the higher half round structure to achieve what we see now on the first pic.

Ok so to confirm in my picture blue cross is where judge parked / talked to his son.

New Location Found

The exterior arena scenes were filmed at the Design Center of the Americas at 1855 Griffin Road in Dania Beach.

The building has been expanded and modified since Vice filmed there.  The blue-covered tree-lined walkway is gone because a new wing of the building was added there.

Wow that´s a great find.

Even more, as CGlide has the original location sheets of that episode and he does not have that location on his site for that episode.
