funny stories from jay leno, as usual.

some of the cars from that era have aged better than others. Ferrari really doesn't make missteps. The Testarossa was probably their most outrageous street car. Lamborghini's i've never been into much. The new ones are a lot better but they just scream 'new money' or 'porn director'.

By the middle of the decade you were seeing ground effects and spoilers slapped on BMW's and Mercedes, and even Porsche's had a few too many scoops.

I wasn't a big Lambo fan either as I always thought it looked like a Stealth Bomber with all those flat panels. A lot of the cars of the early 80's had a variety of flat panels and most makes followed this for the first part of the 80's. I think of the Ford Fairmont or the Chevy Malibu. It wasn't until the 84 Thunderbird that created change in the marketplace as it was extremely good in wind tunnel tests so even Chrysler started to go with the "Airplane Doors" on cars like the early Chargers (mitzu) and the other front wheel drive cars of that era. I'm glad the north American market got weened off of those flat cars and they started to make more elaborate models in the late 80's. The introduction of many new plastics made the sculpting of the bumpers front and rear more easy to create fancy shapes and sexy bodystyles.
