What does everyone make of this news? Man I liked Hateful Eight but it's existence felt very self-congratulating at times (even though Kurt Russel is god), So it's cool that QT is trying something new and tackling a real life event for a change.

This would be like the perfect opportunity to invert expectations of his works and be able to display the difference between the cartoonish "movie violence" of his previous films and real acts of barbarity that we've seen all too frequently in the news in recent times, he could make a statement about these senseless terror attacks.

I can't wait, its sounds awesome. Do you think it's going to deviate from history like in Inglorious Basterds by having Sharon Tate live or something, then exacts her revenge on Manson Kill Bill Style. :) Hope not.

I think this film should be done in a realistic and serious fashion though and I don't know if I can expect that from Tarantino. His films are mostly cartoonish. He only made one great film and that was Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction was overpraised and Jackie Brown was total shit IMO, I disliked Kill Bill Vol 1 as I thought it was all action with no substance at all. I haven't seen any of his films after that as movies made in the 21st Century seldom interest me.
Oliver Stone would probably be a better choice of director for a Manson movie. If he could get the script just right it would be good.

I think this century has been a very bad era for movies and very few good flms have been made. Hollywood is also currently in an abysmal state.

Interesting topic for QT to tackle, for sure! I am certain the project will get much attention and will no doubt bring a newer generation to the story. I believe he has stated that he will only make ten films in his career, so this will be number nine if I am not mistaken. The clock is ticking and perhaps the bar is raised high.

Tommy: Great comments on the truth of the events, Manson did not commit the actual murders, this fact is unknown or lost to many. It will be very intriguing to see how QT approaches.

I liked his earlier movies, but the last handful have seemed to provide diminishing returns in satisfaction. Long drawn out buildups with solid acting, along with the signature quirk, violence and action, but somehow the formula now seems to be lacking....something.

I saw Hateful 8 in the theater, and I recently obtained the DVD but am sitting here wondering if it is worth the long-winded second viewing. I can watch RD and PF countless times and those movies never get old).

Regardless, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this new film. I hope it rocks!
