Why is Vin Diesel bothering with Miami Vice?  I can only guess that he is a fan too.  A better question is what happened to his  ambition to remake the seventies series Kojak?  At least he'd suit that role and it's a series much more receptive to change.  It won't matter if Theo Kojak is taken from New York and transplanted to LA or somewhere else.  Kojak also doesn't demand huge attention to details like music and casting either.  In both looks and attitude Diesel is so ideally suited to "reimagining" Kojak that I'd go out of my way to watch him do it.  On balance, I'll also be ready to kick the set in if he tampers with Vice.

I can't wait for Vin Diesel as Crockett, Cuba Gooding Jr as Tubbs and Danny Trejo as Castillo. Going to be so epic:p

Plus we'll get to see cool montages set to Ariana Grande and Bieber.

Given how God-awful the recent TV reboot of Lethal Weapon was, I have little hope for this.

I'd check it out, but only if I can find a way of doing it for free.

Ugh.  What about the cars?  We'll have the thrill of seeing Vin Diesel in something really glamorous like a Prius, which I'm sure will suit the soundtrack.

Perfectly summed up right here.

When will they learn? When will they fu**ing learn??

Just read this part: Diesel will reteam with Chris Morgan ('Fast and the Furious') and exec produce the revival, which is in development at the network that originally aired the Don Johnson starrer.

Goodness gracious....

I just don't undertand their locgic?? NBC saw a failure with their Knight Rider reboot, which failed a total of three times. Now the first MV reboot has failed with the crappy movie, but no. Forget the movie. Now we're going to reboot it as a show in 2017 and make it even worse than you dreamed of! After all...we just want the money.

Before this impending disaster hits TV, I just want to say sorry to Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas, along with Michael Mann and the cast and crew of Miami Vice, sorry for the fact that a legendary tv series is going to be thrown into the trash my NBC under the guise of a reboot. Peace.

Yeah sums it up - ugh I hate to say this but it's transforming into porn territory especially in Miami after the CA condom law etc (from what I heard).

FL is kinda still like this but back in 1989 it WAS really : jack-shacks right next to churches right next to titty bars.

In Tampa 2017 a church was in the same plaza as a titty bar...

Florida is full of trash & rich people lol

...and what's wrong with that? You leave the titty bar and go next door to the church and say "forgive me father for I have sinned!" :D

I think the titty bar was just trying to do it's civic duty to help their customers by moving in next to the church.

Nothing really wrong w/Strip Clubs - gals gotta earn money for college.. ahem cough cough sorry I meant to say drugs...

the people, the darkness it's a seedy state & ive lived everywhere here.

old people, rich people & red trash (rednecks combined w/white trash)

sadly is number 1 with STD's & number 3 with AIDS.

my hometown was on dateline as the biggest drug problem in the state..country? I can't remember

but yeah it's funny - the hypocrisy w/churches & ladies of the night/streetwalkers

Interesting to see. I'm just excited about a prospect of a new show based in Miami. So, if it isn't filmed in Miami it will be a huge disappointment.

I just hope Vin Diesel won't be playing Crockett.

As for old cast, I doubt they return to anything more than a supporting role, guest starts or cameos as they surely try to sell this show to new audiences. Us older nostagic-original fans aren't big enough audience IMO...

It can't top the good old Miami Vice but it can be an awesome show !

Thanks mvnyc for the link. I read the entire article and it has definitely reignited a spark of interest in me.

If they follow what they claim......it might just work? I am not a fan of reboots, remakes, part 37 of whatever as it is very hard to top anything that is original. It has been done in the past for a number of things such as "A Star is Born" it's been done three times and I think the fourth one with Kris Kristofferson and Striesand was the best so far. I am however eagerly waiting for the new one with Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper because the story line is timeless.

If MV can follow the storyline as they described in the article it would make it interesting and viable. I like that Crockett's son will be the new guy.

Another movie I am reluctantly looking forward to is Bladrunner. I am a huge fan and think that it was probably the greatest sci-fi of the 20th century!!! It will be very hard to follow it and I hope that they don't mess it up!

I hope that the powers that be don't mess up the MV reboot, as it will disappoint true fans. Look at Hawaii 50..............................sorry forget it don't look, as it is not worth it.  Terrible show, horrible plotlines that an eight year old could figure out in three minutes, and really bad acting!

Wow, they had some really good ideas in that article. I like the Eddie Rivera Jr.  twist and also that we may get to see Rico Calderone, Tubb's son! (As you may remember I was quite confused about that since they didn't resolve what happened to the baby).
I'm wondering about something though: What would be the main crime focus of a reboot show? Certainly not drugs again, that would be boring and not really reflecting today's reality. I mean sure, drugs are still a problem, but the War on Drugs is over and we now have the War on Terror. If they really want to push it they would somehow have to include racial and religious tensions that seem to have gotten stronger in the last 10-15 years. (Of course this is just my perspective from Europe, but I do follow events quite closely and I have lived in the US for 7 years after all)

I say no Vice remake - I just rewatched Leap Of Faith & ive never hated anything so much

In what way was that episode a remake of Vice?

It was basically a pilot for a completely different show.

Yeah, it was supposed to be a spin-off which never went further.

I personally enjoyed Leap of Faith, and probably would've watched the full series if it were a thing.

It's Vice for tweens - if I don't have PMT & DJ then personally I just don't want it.

I never said that episode was good.

I just said it wasn't really a Vice remake. It was (or would have been) it's own thing.
