Daniel Craig to return as James Bond!

Daniel Craig will return as 007 in Bond 25. He confirmed he would play James Bond for the fifth time to host Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. Bond 25 will be released in US cinemas on November 8, 2019 with a traditional early release in the UK and the rest of the world.

This is good news, hopefully it'll be a better movie than Spectre was..

whoa that's a long way away. It sucks we have to wait 4 years between movies man. It's hard to believe they made From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball within a year of each other.

...you have seen Skyfall right? :) In my opinion that's the best one of the Craig movies

Spectre is ok, it's better than Quantum but it still leaves you feeling meh.

1. Skyfall

2. Casino Royale

3. Spectre

4. Quantum of Solace

I do welcome another try.  Craig is still in good shape and should be able to pull off the action scenes with no problem.  If they can capture the feel of Skyfall again it would be magical.

Seriously?

Dammit....never liked that guy. When you see a movie like Goldeneye and then look at Daniel Craig's stuff...ugh.

I mean...the Bond franchise really did it for me after Brosnan left...yeah, Die Another Day was a crap movie I know...but everything after that didn't feel so bond to me anymore. I don't know, maybe I'm just a nostalgic person but...I grew up watching all the Bond films from the first one up to Die Another Day with my dad...then Craig came around and I kind of lost interest. Though Skyfall wasn't so shabby. Rip M.

But it's not even that...Q is gone! The new Q is dead to me, I hate him immensely. Desmond Llewelyn will forever remain the true Q for me no matter what, and he's unreplaceable. Absolute shame he had to go just before TWINE was released...

Well, everyone has their favorite Bond.  Try finding anyone who thought George Lazenby should have had 4 movies.

I think some of it will have to do with age as well.  Kids aren't going to identify with Roger Moore or Connery because those movies are "too old" or "too campy."

I'm 17.

With that aside, I don't necessarily like Lazenby either. I mean sure, he was a nice guy and all and a pretty good actor, but I don't think 007's role really suited him too well. I'd certainly take Craig over Lazenby though, that's for sure. Admittedly, Craig has the Timothy Dalton vibe, which is closer to the novels (which I have read) so that's not so bad. But I don't think it's Craig's Bond that's the problem here itself. The thing is, for someone like me at least, every Bond movie prior to Craig has had a goofy Q come up goofy gadgets, and a plot where some dude is plotting to blow up the world or take it over. Then there were the women but...I ain't complainin' about that ;)

But the fact of the matter is that, several people are used to the Hollywood version of Bond rather than the gritty novel one, which was portrayed pretty well in License to Kill or The Living Daylights (A-ha's got a good song for TLD too btw). I didn't like License to Kill for it's crappy plot, Bond goes after some drug lord? Man, that's a cop's job like Crockett to do! Not Bond, who should be killing the guy trying to take over France or something lol! And let's not forget the comedy portrayed with Q and other scenes. Whilst there is some comedy in Craig's Bond (seems more prominent in Skyfall and Spectre than his previous ones) the one liners with the original Q and Bond just never get old, along with goofs happening throughout the movie like Roger Moore finding his car is out of gas and making a joke out of it or something. I think Craig's Bond is a little too serious and sometimes those jokes don't really fly as much for me.

But at the end of the day, I grew up with the old school films so this is clearly biased. However, I do want to acknowledge you point about this newer generation of people growing up with Craig. It's just a shame they'll never be able to see another Desmond Llewlyn again or the other Bonds before Craig. Hell, in just 10 years if you ask them who's your favorite Bond, they'll either answer with," There were other Bonds?!" or "Daniel Craig."

But hey, you and me can always appreciate and revel in the fact that we all here, probably watched the originals with Connery!

One of my favorite scenes in Goldeneye:

Don't steal Q's sandwich!

I didn't like Skyfall because it tricked non Bond fans into thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Sure it looked beautiful and stuff but the plot lifted from Goldeneye just wasn't interesting. How many dissatisfied ex-MI6 agents is Bond going to run into? I wanted to see a more traditional Bond film like Spectre...but then I instantly regretted that idea when I saw Spectre:)

I think i'd take another serious George Lazenby Bond instead of "Diamonds are Forever" to be honest. Watching them in order and seeing Connery camp it up immediately following Tracy's death in OHMSS is one of the most weird tonal jumps ever.

Agreed! Even John Cleese was a better Q than this hipster douche. Not only is he a bad Q but he was one of the worst hackers in history and allows Silva to escape in Skyfall. :wuerg:

"Were you expecting an exploding pen, sorry we don't go for those anymore" Why the hell not? It's not like those gadgets weren't insanely useful or anything. >.<

I think the issue with Spectre wasn't the fun and traditional side of it but that for some stupid reason EON productions keeps insisting on shoving personal issues into the Bond story. There was no reason for Blofeld to have any sort of family or personal connection to Bond yet they just jammed that in there blemishing one of Bond's most formidable foes. One the whole I enjoyed that film maybe even more nowadays than Skyfall which I still like but Spectre outside of the awful plot twist delivers a lot of what I like in Bond films (the traditional aspect of it) and I hope they keep that up for Craig's last film.

The new Q is obnoxious. The exploding pen line is just enraging and taking a shot at one of the film series finest Goldeneye, yes EON let's just jab at the one Bond film almost every fan loves and even non-fans have admiration for. Also the exploding pen worked really dang well I should say.

On the topic of Craig. If they want to do something special with his Bond and Blofeld then they should look to adapt Ian Fleming's original You Only Live Twice novel to the screen in some aspect. The movie only carried over some of the names, Bond pretending to be a Japanese fisherman, and the location so the entire last act would be fully available to use. The book had an excellent climax set in a Japanese castle surrounded by a deadly garden filled with poisonous plants and snakes plus Blofeld disguising himself in samurai armor wielding a sword.

Aww man, I didn't think Spectre was that egregious until thinking about it now. Bond and Blofeld revealed to be childhood buddies reminded me of "Goldmember" when they reveal Austin and Dr Evil are brothers. They had Christoph Waltz, the guy who played one of the greatest villains in modern cinema, Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds. They also retrieved the rights to Blofeld, James Bond's arch nemesis and they somehow managed to screw all that up. It's baffling. I hated how they just tried to sloppily tie all of the Craig movies together when it doesn't really make sense. I still have no idea what that memory erasing machine did exactly and why it magically didn't work on Bond(other than a plot contrivance).

Another thing that enraging was Bond being the cause of Blofeld's Donald Pleasance-esque scar down the side of his face. It happens off screen and then the next time we see him he suddenly has the scar. Then how can we forget the moment Bond shoots down a helicopter with a handgun, in one of the most BS climaxes to a movie in a long time. I just remembered that Miami Vice did the same thing:D but atleast Crockett looks surprised like "Wow that actually worked." Bond on the other hand has no such look of astonishment when he takes down that chopper, as if it was his plan all along.

That would be epic! After Craig finishes up being Bond I'd love for them to try something new like that instead of doing the same formula we've seen for decades. I was watching the spoof of Casino Royale and kind of liked the idea of doing an old man bond brought out of retirement. Where you take the Bond from 1950s England and transplant into the modern era, a hard ass guy who's repulsed by this coddled PC society. I was picturing him played by someone the same age that Clint Eastwood was in Sudden Impact. etc

Precisely the reason why Spectre was a failure in my eyes. They shoved Bond's history into the plot which there was absolutely no need for whatsoever. Apart form the typical action and gun shooting etc. first off, I don't like the new Q. No one did Q better than Desmond Llewelyn, that's an undisputated fact. And like Vincent Hanna said, John Cleese was a great replacement for him during TWINE and onwards, unfortunately they kicked him off for some reason. The new Q is definetly throws those "I'm a college virgin who spends all his time making gadgets and stuff and now I work for James Bond" type of vibe with no real humor, to me. And then there's the new M. The new M isn't TOO bad, but defiently is unable to live up to the success of the original one from Connery onwards, to Judi Dench's cold hearted, yet subtly humorus M from Goldeneye to Skyfall. Whatever happened to those funny gadgets Q would show off on his test subjects? Remember that scientist who got stuck in a phone booth that blew up with some air bag like material? Well that type of lab humor is non existent now. What a damn shame. At this point, I'd much rather see even Pierce Brosnan return again. Why? Well...look at this:

I also want to add this:

The latest incarnation of Sharknado borrowed that element.  The best gadget was a bike helmet with a shark fin mounted on top that would make the wearer GPS trackable AND invisible to sharks.  That certainly came in handy when the wearer was trapped in a sharknado for the whole movie.  lol

Honestly, I do miss those lab humor scenes.

Don't we all?...

Any of you guys remember the VHS Tape version of TWINE? Remember this in the opening?:

Actual tribute starts at 3:14

I remember the first time I watched it I actually cried. I still cry to this day.

Roger Moore may or may not have been the best, but damn he is definetly one of my favorite Bonds! My dad loves him too. Just a few weeks ago I watched The Spy Who Loved Me again...ah the memories...

Really wish they picked someone with more charm, all the whilst retaining the Tim D cruelness too. Because even Dalton's Bond was supposed to be the one from the novels but he expresses more charm than Craig does. I feel that, when you think of James Bond, modt guys think of the guy they dream of being but can't actually. If you wanna be like Craig, just go hit they gym. Really wish Brosnan would come back again, he can still play the part flawlessely even at his age.

It would be funny if they just ignored the events of Spectre, especially since they tried to haphazardly link all the previous movies to that one. They would be retconning a retcon.:D

Who's doing the worst job currently at building a continuous "universe"? The James Bond producers or Warner Bros with Batman vs Superman/Suicide Squad? Eek

DC are unfortunately trying to play catchup to Marvel..  which they shouldn't.. DC is equally as awesome as Marvel, I haven't disliked any of the DC movies except Suicide Squad.

Awesome!, I regret not seeing it in the cinema now.:(

Why is it so hard for these cats to establish a continuity of films without them appearing so discordant? The change in tone from Quantum of Solace and Skyfall was so jarring that it took half the movie before I could re-adjust to what they were going for. We went from a rookie James Bourne-Sorry Bond jumping across rooftops in the first two movies, to a middle aged Bond who's losing his touch in Skyfall. It felt like there needed to be atleast another couple movies in-between those for it to logically make sense. It would be like if Roger Moore made Live and let die and then immediately afterwards they made a View to Kill where they mention his advancing age. We missed Craig's "The spy who loved me".
