It would be funny if they just ignored the events of Spectre, especially since they tried to haphazardly link all the previous movies to that one. They would be retconning a retcon.:D

Who's doing the worst job currently at building a continuous "universe"? The James Bond producers or Warner Bros with Batman vs Superman/Suicide Squad? Eek

they weren't so bad until SPECTRE. the old bond movies were all linked, particularly the early Connery films. there was just no need for the retcon, and making Blofeld someone Bond knew as a child was just nonsensical.

Man, I remember the days I'd put on TWINE on my VHS tape and this song would start in the beginning of the movie:

Freakin' love Shirley Manson, but hell, I must have been 7 or 8 when I saw this music video play and...well, let's just say, I was pretty mentally disturbed by what I saw here at the time lol.

James Bond and Miami Vice are my favorites. I'm happy that Craig is coming back because it doesn't seem that there's another actor at the moment who seems good enough to replace him yet.

I first got into the series in 2009 when I bought GoldenEye. I just totally fell in love with Bond's world. I enjoy every film, even the weaker films. Every actor brought something new to the role. I soon watched Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace. I still love both films. So it was pretty disheartening for a new fan to hear about Bond 23 being suspended.:)

Unfortunately both Skyfall and Spectre have been pretty disappointing for me. It's a mix of the bloated length, uninspired scores, dull plots, the subplots about Bond and MI6 being irrelevent, and the fact that Bond was suddenly washed up after being in his prime one film earlier.

Anyway, glad that Craig is back. I'm so damn sick of these long waits between films though. I hope, since Mendes won't be back, that the film takes a different path and ends the Craig era with a bang.

My favorite actors are Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig.

I'm surprised that there are this many negative reviews of Craig as Bond and especially the criticism of Spectre. As to Craig I think he is a reasonable persona of the Bond intended by Fleming....rough, crude and edgy and fairly misogynistic. I believe Fleming wrote the Bond character to be much like himself, and he was known for displaying some of these characteristics as well as being smug and erudite, the latter according to Connery. I liked Spectre much more so than Skyfall as it really brought some of the earlier Bond films back into play again. Spectre to me was much more like the early Bond films with the Alpine chase scene, the burly henchman (a bit like Oddjob) and some others, and the film finally brings the notorious global crime syndicate Spectre into play. And the whole theme of global surveillance also fits in with classic Bond antagonists who sought out global domination.

Roger Moore's ghost would be a better Bond than Craig. jk

I'd remove the jk from the end.

Literally just watched Live and Let Die with my dad and, let's be honest. What makes people watch James Bond? The humor with Q, the little events like sheriff GW Pepper, that stuff along with cheesy action and violence. These elements are non existent in the Craig movies, who I've never liked to begin with. It's Hollywood. I get that some people prefer the novel James Bond over the Hollywood one, but again, Hollywood. It's what made these movies so great. There will never be another Spy Who Loved Me or Goldfinger...

Brosnan was a real G man, he may not have been the best, but shit! He knew how to kill a man in one second, then screw a girl the next.

things go through phases. i've always thought Robert Downey jr. in Iron Man is basically playing the more playful earlier Bond-playboy of the previous decades

Agreed. Another thing people forget is that even the Moore Bond's had some amazing action scenes and stunts. The boat chase in Live and Let die etc, I love the opening to Moonraker where Bond gets thrown out of a plane without a parachute, two stunt guys actually jumped out of a plane with mini parachutes under their shirts and fought in mid air. Nowadays the same scene would be done with CGI and a wind tunnel. ;(

At the end of Octopussy when Bond and the indian dude are fighting on top of a plane FOR REAL. I've never seen that stuff done before in anything besides these old bonds. The only things comparable in scale would be something like Raiders of the Lost Ark or the Nolan Batman Movies.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not saying Craig is bad as a actor, he's a great actor and all, but whoever writes the story for these movies...jeez, lighten up man, they're kicking the Hollywood 007 spirit by the balls everytime. Though we live in a society where people get offended easily now, but that shouldn't change anything. Ah man, as much as I love James Bond, I think Bond's days have really come to an end. Die Another Day was pretty much the end of the series for me. Craig rolled around with some so called reboot and, he didn't kill the franchise (from a marketing point of view, at least) but he sure did kick the can for me after going from movies like Goldeneye or The Man With The Golden Gun, Goldfinger, Thunderball etc. to some hardcore edgy wanna be fighter movie like Casino Royale or QoS. Sorry man, not bashing him or anything, but his movies are the start of a totally different Bond that exists in Ian Fleming's gritty world, and the others reside in Hollywood's arms.

Also, RIP Roger Moore. I was devastated to learn he died the day the news broke to me months ago and I still am. At least he is with Q now...

I do welcome another try.  Craig is still in good shape and should be able to pull off the action scenes with no problem.  If they can capture the feel of Skyfall again it would be magical.

I agree - I also welcome another try from him
