New & Upcoming Music Releases

The other thread is quite heavy on golden oldies and classics that new songs always feel at odds.

Maybe a thread for brand new and recent releases would be more appropriate?

I still consider myself young at 35 around these parts. :p

Straight off the back of a huge debut on Cold Tonic and a monster 12" on Feel My Bicep comes the debut EP from the New Zealand wonderboys, Sandboards. 4 Sun drenched bangers merging the elements of Larry Heard-esc sounds with Shep Pettibone style basslines. Something for everyone on this EP.

Shy Layers welcomes us aboard with the shimmering pads and soothing soft synths of ‘Black & White’, a drifting soundtrack to a John Hughes-directed episode of ‘In The Night Garden’.

Just discovered this one.

This is 13 minutes of sexiness.

Bézier is the moniker of San Francisco based musician Robert Yang, who is also part of the Honey Soundsystem crew. A multi-instrumentalist, Robert planted his roots in San Francisco in 2005. Over the years in SF he has built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances. The final track, “Imperial Tranz Am”, is an airy, ethereal slow burner clocking in at over 13 minutes. It originally appeared as the soundtrack to an experimental queer fantasy film of the same name by SF film maker Aron Kantor.

Release date: 18 July 2017

There's a lot of shirtless men in this club.

For the ‘Flamingo Boots’ EP we chose 4 songs from the album which the pair extended for maxi 12” throbbing dance mixes. Looky Looky describe the project as equal parts light and dark, a contemporary recasting of Italo, Hi-NRG and electro. The songs infuse bright ‘80s sonic textures with a seedy, sweaty thump.

This one is the best but it's not on Youtube.

For over ten years, Rob Lowe and Michael Muller of Austin instrumental act Balmorhea have crafted a gorgeous marriage of post-rock and cinematic romanticism, a meandering stream of string instruments that seems to take you back in time.

WOW!  Beautifully written.  You should write the liner notes for their music.

Thanks, some of the italic quotes are stolen from the store or website I find the music on.

If Collateral was made today, maybe this could be used in it's soundtrack.

Here is a new EP with its two tracks Erode and Salomè which make you lightful dream and fly and are created by the italian producer Ciano based by the KE//ER Label. Intense and harmonic these two tracks are well composed to join you in late warm summer.

Release Date: 28 August 2017 (today!)

Thanks :)

This is a year old but it just cropped up as new when looking. Really nice artwork  and matches my avatar. :radio:

“Just Landed” is this year`s “So Many Colours, and it`s no coincidence that both were produced by White Isle veterans and former Cafe Del Mar residents, Jose Padilla and Phil Mison having seen Ibiza change at first hand, witnessed the island altered perhaps irrevocably by commercialisation. Both consequently intent, and successfully so, on preserving the original musical spirit of “the Balearics” and a beauty that became endangered three decades ago."

This last track off the same album is cool too.

Released 03 May 2016

Lone is pretty much the most reliable, hard working and consistent producer working today. This EP is pure bliss.

If one person could score a new series of Miami Vice I'd pick him.

Lone AKA Matt Cutler delivers the second installment of breezy atmospheric house, stacked with ‘floor ready trax, inspired by his red hot Magic Wire imprint. First up is the tropical percussion and telescoping arpeggios of ‘A Mind’s Eye Melody’, displaying Cutler’s talent for a nagging melody it comes on like Tangerine Dream remixed by 808 State - pulsating drums, hymnal chords and gooey sub bass. In the B2 slot Cutler unfurls a hushed, 6 minute balearic reprise of the ‘A Mind’s Eye Melody’, heartstopping Emulator ii chords and harp glissandi wash over a wistful flute figure pedal to sweetly memorable effect. 'Ambivert Tools' finds Cutler a true master, at the top of his game - taking all he’s learned over his many years of beat exploration and condensing it down into rugged house stacked full of nagging melody / harmony that feels fresh and vital to 21st dance floors.

Track title is me in this thread. :)

Man-machine Edward Upton aka DMX Krew boomerangs back to Hypercolour with a strong collection of melancholy, bittersweet brain dance and electro themes, some of his deftest and concise material in an ever-sprawling catalogue.

Whooooooosh.

'Swnerve' is a new song from CID RIM featuring Petite Noir. The two made a number of songs over the last couple of years. For now, this one's so beautiful we asked to put it out as a stand alone. More Cid Rim coming shortly...

Released September 5th 2017

Not on Youtube or Soundcloud. Really, really good.

Tosca is an electronic music project of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber formed 1994 in Vienna. It is Dorfmeister's second such project, the first being Kruder & Dorfmeister. Tosca's first album, Opera, was released in 1997 by G-Stone Recordings.

I have "Busenfreund" by Tosca. Really nice textures. I actually got the CD in Miami in 2003!

I heard that one a dutch radio station while I was on the treadmill. Kruder & Dorfmeister.

I like the creativity of the video and interesting use of playing cards. Very meodic which is a theme in all my postings.

"Love What Survives’ is the third studio album from Mount Kimbie. It is a melodic yet robust electronic record for driving with the windows down - a distillation of their career to date, mixing multiple singing voices and musical personalities, flirting with freeform experimentation, pop tropes and an expansive sonic palette

I've heard this sample used so many times before and never known it's origin.

Yasuaki Shimizu’s Music For Commercials [1987] is here given a much needed first ever reissue some 30 years since it appeared on Crammed's Made To Measure library music series, which also included editions by Tuxedomoon and Hctor Zazou. Very safe to say that if you were enchanted by Visible Cloaks’ Reassemblage LP or their Fairlights, Mallets & Bamboo mixes, this one is a must!
