mvnyc
If there is any good news, the track is slowly drifting east. Maybe by Saturday it'll be far enough east so we don't get it as bad. Trying to find gas here is becoming a nightmare, as people are going into panic mode. jpaul1
don't stay in Florida, flee if you can. some people are talking of a super hurricane on TV. 2 deads in France already. José and Katia have turned into hurricanes too. i planned go to New-orleans for my holidays instead of Miami, but now with that Katia thing, i think i'm going to land in San Francisco. good excuse to do the west US national parks. yeah i think a road trip from Denver to SF will do it . didn't take holidays for 4 years, maybe it's now or never Edited September 7, 2017 by jpm1
Sonny-Burnett
It seems this storm is potentially worse than Andrew due to its size...are most of you Floridians evacuating or taking shelter in high rises?
jpaul1
yeah if Florida governor says it's gonna be worse than Andrews, don't search any further, flee. latest news on french TV say french officials say 95% of St Martin has been destroyed. may God protect less privileged peoples like Haïti or elsewhere Edited September 7, 2017 by jpm1
Administrators James Posted September 7, 2017 Administrators Report Share Posted September 7, 2017 Apparently it's going to be the worst storm ever recorded. If you're in the path, it's time to get the hell out of dodge.

Assasinge
Anyone see the video of the reporter standing out in the wind of Irma?
jpaul1
yeah but the guy is a very experienced storm chaser. Irma was less dangerous once it gone in cat.4, also it seems the reconstruction after katrina was pretty good. been watching lot of vids, and never saw any object flying yestreday. i could go to Miami sooner than expected finally a small idea of what it was when it was cat.5. in fact it was said it was cat.5 but most of specialists said it was a cat.6 St martin Edited September 11, 2017 by jpm1
jpaul1
hurricane alert . the sooner you prepare, the better EDIT: sounds a nasty one. they talk of 230 km/h winds which is monstruous. seems wisdom is to temporarly evacuate. i wonder how living such an event is, and how the locals psycologically deal with such event. i mean being forced to evacuate your living region sounds like sci-fi to me Edited October 10, 2018 by jpm1

Not a great idea. Check this pic after a hurricane. We were very lucky on the central W. coast of Fla, Hurricane Michael passed us by on the way N. to the panhandle area. Some little towns were practically wiped off the map. Prayers for those guys. Edited October 12, 2018 by miamijimf
