ZAQ 178
The fender flares in the front go all the way down & around the belly pan. This was the initial install of the styrene plastic before I trimmed & contoured it.

ZAQ 178
I want to make sure I’m doing it right! There’s been a few “McBurnie Daytona” model builds but no completed pics of any of them lol. If they ever got completed. Mine will for sure!
ZAQ 178
The body is waiting on paint. I got exhaust photos from Camera Daytona so bottom chassis has been modified/notched for the correct way the exhaust runs. A late 70s Corvette light Saddle paint has been ordered for the interior after talking w/ Sonny-Burnett & Daytona365 & seeing the Connolly color swatch which is classified as a “saddle” color. ZAQ 178
First attempt at seats (rear photo) and second attempt at seats (forefront). I’ll be using the later set as I believe they look much better IMHO. The seats in front are the widened Vette seats. ZAQ 178
I’ve decided to use the 78 Vette Pace car motor over the one that came w/ the Daytona kit. I had to made header collector plates which I’ll shape later. Custom exhaust is in the works so it looks like the Camera Daytona.
ZAQ 178
So, CD’s engine is pretty much all black. It’s not detailed & though I want to build the replica of the #4 car, the details in the engine bay would be lost on my build. Do I add color to the engine block & detail all the parts? Seems a shame not too even though it won’t be quite right. This is the engine in CD’s #4 car. Then the details I put into the Testarossa motor I recently built. Choices!
ZAQ 178
The Daytona has color! I found it quite difficult to take photos of this model. I prepped the body so smooth the gloss black paint came out looking like it has lots of depth. See the seashell next to the body for comparison. I still have to wet sand & polish the paint but I need to wait a week or 2 for full cure on the single stage black enamel. Sorry for the dirty mirror photo. Was the brightest light in my house lol.
ZAQ 178
A few new pieces of the puzzle showed up today. Code M36 Original Corvette Light Saddle interior paint & Boranni wire wheels that are much better than the MV Daytona kit offered. Spinners are still wrong though. They have a sweep to them.
ZAQ 178
Interior now wears its light Saddle interior color (just sprayed) & the engine bay fender aprons have been cut out of the Daytona chassis & Vette aprons have been grafted in. Getting closer! I really wish Jagvic had complete photos of his. I may be the first to show a completed #4 Camera Car Daytona model here.

ZAQ 178
Thank you guys! It’s a labor of love for sure! So many hours spent on the body & interior, especially that dash! Now it’s motor & chassis time!
ZAQ 178
Making progress on the interior after allowing a few days for paint curing. Still need a few details done here and there like the stripe down the seats, extra dash detailing etc... the Momo Veloce wheel is hand built by me (that was the original Daytona /Vette steering wheel very customized), the horn button is a decal I made. I work for a major copier Co. so I can make my own decals fairly close to how they should be. Edited February 28, 2018 by ZAQ 178

ZAQ 178
Say it ain’t so... carpeting for the interior? Sure, why not! I used 3m Velcro (only 1 side) and cut it to fit. Peeled of the backing & stuck it to the interior gut. Much better that just black paint! I’ll also be using this for the black carpeted piece on the back side of the front seats. Stinger390X
I always thought of myself as a good modeler but I have to say....I have never seen such detail for a plastic model! Job well done sir.
ZAQ 178
Thanks my friend! My wife said the same thing last night when I temporarily put all the interior pieces together & showed her what I’ve been busy doing. She couldn’t believe it after I showed her pics of Camera Car’s interior. Afterwards I sat back & enjoyed my efforts myself .. w/ a beer of course lol.

CameraDaytona
The Velcro really works well for the carpet. The project is looking great!
Vicefan7777
Looking really nice. I wish I still had the patience to build models. I have two that are in my closet that were gifts from years ago. Someday, I keep telling myself, I will build them.

Thank you Camera Daytona & for the additional pics you sent me! This project has been so much fun so far. Very involving w/ so many details but it has really sharpened my model building skills! I’m already thinking about a next project. I think I may want to build Switek’s Thunderbird. We’ll have to wait & see lol.
