The body is waiting on paint. I got exhaust photos from Camera Daytona so bottom chassis has been modified/notched for the correct way the exhaust runs.

Please bear with me, I haven't made it through all 90+ pages of the Daytona threat yet, but that gas tank....isn't that gonna get in the way of the mufflers if they're moved more inwards?

that's an awesome build you're doing there! I've been into that hobby myself for many years but have been taking a break more or less since having started a family. You got me inspired to start again...I have a MV daytona build that dates back to my tens, similar like you. Mine though is in a state which is not really worth preserving. I do have two more unbuilt ones stashed in my basement, plus too many more, still wrapped boxes.... I have to close off my Vanishing Point Challenger built first however before I can start something new.

Here's a Nash Bridges Cuda I have built:

Wow! Those are both amazing builds! Very nice details too!

When I was about 11 I think, I built my original Daytona model (I’m 42 now). It was in storage for many years and when I got it back at age 38/39 there wasn’t much left of it. Windshield frame was broken off but still there, missing windshield, seats, wheels, engine & front & rear suspension. All I got back was the body, interior tub & frame lol. I used spare mustang model parts to build it back to this.

Now, since I didn’t use the wheels, seats, engine etc from the new Daytona build(I used all Corvette parts) those parts will go into my old original Daytona & all the mustang parts will come out lol.

I say try & revive that old Daytona!

Here's a shot of my under-body and you can see a portion of the gas tank above the exhaust pipes on either side. The tank sits up high, literally right under the trunk and thereby limits the height of the trunk space to little more than the depth of a small suitcase. 5a99cb9699503_P1000751Edited.thumb.JPG.a95c68b25e7b1b825ae65573b17fb32b.JPG

Thank you S-B!!! I cut the gas tank out & recessed it up further into the trunk area. After all... I don’t need a spare haha.

Interior will be completed tonight as I think I’ve reached my skill level limits before I screw something up! Lol

Its getting exciting now! I can’t tell you all how much fun this is! Many of you have been extremely helpful in my project w/ details & photos but... Jagvic paved my way and gave me the inspiration to take modeling to a new level! March 27th 2011 was his last post w/ no completed Daytona model pics. I hope he is ok!!!!

You should HEAR it ..it is mean sounding as the exhaust is not fitted with any mufflers. It has sound bafflers in the exhaust but gives it a growling sound when revving.

And I'm dying to take the Daytona out in about another month when the weather is warm enough (dry enough lol).

My 88 Mustang sounds mean too! Mac shorty headers, off road H pipe, full Flowmaster catback exhaust back by 275hp. I built this car from the ground up but now feel I need a McBurnie Daytona!

Thank you so much! I spent almost 3 months pouring over photos, details, expanding photos & enhancing sharpness to get little details in. My hand is only so good though & doesn’t quite keep up with my vision but fairly close ha ha.

Grafted the Corvette firewall to the Daytona interior tub w/ the brake booster. Lots of trimming & cutting here!

A quick mock up of the frame, motor & interior tub in place as well as the Corvette front fender aprons that’s I cut and grafted into the Daytona frame. It all fits like a glove w/ some serious trimming and cutting as well.

You just might have to fly this thing out to @volobrian‘s for some forced aspect side-by-sides when they get the Daytona back.

I would prob give up a lot to see the Camera & Stunt (VOLO) Car at this point. I’m way behind all of you on this site but hoping to catch up fast!

I’ll bring one of my MV synthesizers. It will be the best photo in the history of this site. :):):)

Picked up a set of Boranni wire wheels to replace the wheels that came with the Daytona kit. Borrani  on left, Daytona on the right. Took 4 weeks for these little stupid wheels to get to NH from Japan. You can see through the spokes on the Borrani wheels.

These builds need repeating. Been looking at them in expanded view on & off since posted. Makes my build look like a little kid did it. Extremely nice work done here Daytona365!!!! That Vanishing Point Challenger is so damn sweet! #Kowalski
