airtommy
Here is a real estate commercial for the Palm Island house: They falsely claim that the Star Island "Little Prince" house was used in Scarface. Of course, the Scarface house was actually in California.
airtommy
I've been studying "Smuggler's Blues" this week and I noticed something in the aerial footage when they are returning to Miami. airtommy
The doors have bigger frames and less glass, but they're the same size. The semi-circular windows above the doors have been replaced with a different pattern.

miamijimf
Found this old postcard of the motel at 6500 Biscayne Blvd. they pass when following the bad guys. Apparently it was the New Yorker Motel before it became the Sunny Day Motel. I think it was once the Davis Motel but is back to the original name. Interesting old 40s/50s style building. Interesting it's gone back to the New Yorker this area of Biscayne Blvd was is quite run down - quite a few empty buildings

airtommy
When we were looking for the jewelry store, we forgot to look in the most obvious place. Perhaps we needed a "tour guide". It is located in South Miami one block from JJ's (where they had the farewell lunch for Malone)! I was visiting JJ's (now Irish Times) and noticed the arches across the street. The bartender was a nice guy and seemed to take a genuine interest in this. I did not pinpoint the exact store. There were three possibilities. I tried lining up the columns but I was too nervous and didn't even note which exact stores I was in. I think CGlide will be able to pinpoint the exact store. My best guess is 5818 Sunset Drive a.k.a. SW 72nd Street, otherwise it is 5822 or 5830. Edited July 15, 2018 by airtommy

C Glide
Above video is the raw footage. Sorry I have not cleaned it up but thought it was interesting all the same. Lots of "work" ahead as I took over 1500 photos just for Vice.

Matt5
I watched this episode last evening and it’s a fine one. Good locations and the first of two Miami Vice episodes directed by B-Movie horror director Abel Ferrara (also “Dutch Oven”). The Sunny Days Motel on Biscayne Bvld (also seen in the Pilot and “Golden Triangle”, Part 1) is seen in this episode and looks to have had quite a refurbishment from how I remember in 2017. Now the New Yorker boutique hotel on Biscayne at NE 65th st to NE 66th st north of Little Haiti. This below is from google this year from NE 66th St where we see the thugs turn onto Biscayne. Matt5
The gas station seen in this episode during the pull over scene was much further along the 123rd Street Causeway than I remembered - this is it? I didn’t remember Crockett and Castillo tailing the woman that long after going through the toll gate. Matt5
It’s cool guys read Jeremy’s site - the toll gate (that was there in 1985) moved west closer to the mainland - so this scene was filmed pretty much in front of the now Chevron gas station as in the behind the scenes photo. Tom
The teaser house (first victims) is 8360 SW 114 Street in Kendall. We knew that already but we have no picture as this house was built in 1982, sold in 1984 for 485k USD and last sold in Dec1997 for 385k USD. No sale since then, thus no pictures from real estate companies. I post here the best and only picture we can get, it´s from Google Earth, but there is only this half blocked view through the trees as this house is hidden under heavy greenery. There is no good matching picture with the episode, as the camera was exactly positioned on the road side (inside), so we never get to see the glass brick wall on the photo in the episode. The entrance - which was featured in the teaser when the invaders came in - is on the right side of the house, behind the blue part that is visible through the canopy. But anyway, we see that this one story home is it as the style matches. Without the informant that came forward and told C Glide the address we would never have found this due to lack of any interior proof pics and MV only filmed inside! I post this picture now, because it played some role in finding Crockett´s and Caitlin´s home which is very close nearby (near 110th Street). I was looking for the most dense vegetation part of town for the search for their home and started right here.
