Kavinsky
Cooper I'm just curious do you know if Ebel ever made Crockett's watch with the kind of dial this Omega which is just like the one I have except 2 years its senior has which has sort of a silverish almost pearlescent like dial to it mixed in with gold hour marks
COOPER&BURNETT
I've not seen Crockett's watches with that type of face, and dial. However, Ebel does, or did make watches similar in style to Crockett's watches with a peal-like face, with Gold stick marks. I just never saw the combo on the exact styles he wore...but very similar. Kavinsky
by the way Cooper about the wind up box you have to keep your watches wound while your not wearing them, where did you get it from and how much was it?

Not sure they make the catalog anymore, as it was a while ago. They mostly sold watches and jewelry. I think I got it on sale for about $300 or $400, as it was hand made, and hand laquered wood. It spins 4 watches at the same time, or you can stop certain winders, and reverse winding direction if you want to. It also has a space for two watches to be displayed. You can get single winders much, much cheaper than the one I have. SHARPER IMAGE used to sell a watch winder. If they have an online store, look into it.

Kavinsky
Found kind of an interesting alternative to the Ebel in a way:http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Chrono-Classic/Chrono-Classic-Ceramic/241537http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6974&stc=1&d=1351062412http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6976&stc=1&d=1351062415made by Victorinox, kind of ebel looking and its kind of funny to go back to the earlier posts and sort of see how my opinion changed over time about the chronograph thing.always kind of wondered how in movies the army guys were able to keep track of time and time there moves with such precision, guess I never picked up on the fact that they were using chronographs when they say lets synch our watches like I think they did in "Who Dares Wins" the one about the british SAS.not sure how I feel about the white band around the dial, guess I'd need to see it in person but it does seem to fit the theme of the watch.hell the only thing that isnt cool about the watch is that bizzare mention of it being featured in some O magazine there calling it a nice boyfriends watch or something, which is kind of worrying plus O magazine sounds like the name of a porno mag!also alot of other nice watches in there, sadly that was the only one in goldhttp://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Alliance/Alliance-Chronograph/241479http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Alliance/Alliance/241474http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Alliance/Alliance/241542http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Victoria/Victoria-Diamond/241536http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Maverick-GS/Maverick-GS/241492http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Maverick-GS/Maverick-GS/241437http://www.swissarmy.com/us/product/Timepieces/Category/Classic/Maverick-GS/Maverick-GS/241435kinda think though if I go for a replacement for my omega I gotta go for the gold one, plus black and silver seems to be done to death nowadays. Kavinsky
Have to admit looking at the white line around it I'm kind of iffy about it now, maybe wait and see if they make one without the white wall on it:http://www.ebay.com/itm/SWISS-ARMY-VICTORINOX-MENS-WATCH-CHRONO-SAPPHIRE-STAINLESS-S-CERAMIC-GOLD-NEW-/271018183629?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3f19f14bcdafter all they may be trying the water on gold watches right now. michealscott7
ust been on there website, your right about the white band, makes it look cheap. If it was gold would be a good alternative to the Ebel. Would love the Rolex tho even a copy one but trying to find a decent one on the net is risky. Lifeguard
Anybody got a breakdown of the watches that Sonny Crockett wore during the series? Did he have multiple watches during a season, or did he have a new watch every season? Do we know the make and models of each?

My uncle used to gift imitation Rolexes when I was in high school, and so I would wear those. I bought one in college too, but the wrist bands used to pinch the hairs and skin on my wrist. I got a nice British nautical watch while traveling in Europe with a leather band, and wore that for years. However my scuba diving lead me to just buying Timex Ironman watches for the practicality of it, and after that cell phones pretty much removed any need for a wristwatch. Lifeguard
I was researching Rolex and Ebel watches online to educate myself and I came across this article:http://www.monochrome.nl/old-school-ebel-sport-classic-chronograph/It says that Ebel supplied Crockett's watch beginning with 3rd season, replacing the Rolexes. Even sponsoring the show and supplying all the cast watches. It also seems to suggest that the Rolex watches were fakes too, just like the Daytona. Is this correct, did Crockett were Rolex watches exclusively season 1 & 2, then switch exclusively to Ebel watches? If true, this seems to indicate season 3 is a quad-fecta of changes for Crockett; Daytona/Bren-Ten/Rolex/Ray-Bans for Testarossa/Smith&Wesson/Ebel/Persol.Edit: I think this forum thread was the source of the pics for the article above:http://forums.watchuseek.com/f78/ebel-chronograph-ala-sonny-crockett-487955.html
Lifeguard
OK, I've been rereading through the posts, and looking up pics online. It looks like to me that Crockett had the gold with champaign face Rolex Day-Date with presidential bracelet for season 1 and part of 2. Then in season two he got the Ebel 1911 chronograph in gold with white face with the classic wave bracelet, and had it partway through season 3. Then for the remainder of season 3 and the rest of the series, Crockett had the Ebel 1911 chronograph in gold with white face and a modular bracelet. Is this correct, he only had three different watches? And I've been looking through replica Ebel watches, and this is the only one I can find that seems to be the same style as Crockett's but not the right finish:http://www.watchkiss.com/ebel-1911-discovery-scratch-resistant-sapphire-1215485.html
Lifeguard
No one has given me any feedback on Sonny's watches so far. But I've been doing a lot of visual research and learning about the Ebel watches and it seems there were only 3 watches that were used during the series:The Rolex Day Date with Presidential band in gold with champaign face Worn Season 1, with one appearance in second season for "The Dutch Oven." (because it was filmed during first season.)The Ebel 1911 Chronograph with Wave band in gold with white faceWorn Season 2 from "Prodigal Son", into Season 3 until "Viking Bikers From Hell"
Lifeguard
Ebel 1911 Chronograph with Linked band in gold with white faceWorn Season 3 "Everybody's in Show Business", to the final epsiode in Season 5 "Freefall"From the pictures I've seen of the watches on DJ's wrist, I can't tell much detail of the faces. The two Ebels look like they might have stick marks instead of the roman numerals on the two watches I have as examples above. I'm not sure about the Rolex face has the stick marks I've show in the example above.
Kavinsky
from what I understand theres a chance the watchband might have been replaced with the latter style for the latter seasons just because of general wear and tear.
Lifeguard
from what I understand theres a chance the watchband might have been replaced with the latter style for the latter seasons just because of general wear and tear.Yeah, I saw someone mention that too. As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the earlier and later Ebel chronographs, except for the band. So it could be the same watch with different band, or Ebel just gave the production new watches at the end of 3rd season. Can't tell by looking at them, would need to confirm it with some behind the scenes info.
Gary1911A1
http://www.watchkiss.com/ebel-1911-discovery-scratch-resistant-sapphire-1215485.htmlThat's the only replica I have ever seen of the Ebel 1911.
Lifeguard
:done:That's the only replica I have ever seen of the Ebel 1911.Yeah, so to make a Crockett watch you'd need to gold plate it, and probably add gold leaf to the hand and face. They make a non-chronograph version of the wave band watch too, so maybe you can get that band separately and add it to the 1911 replica and make the 2nd/3rd season watch. I'm not sure how much that would cost in comparison to getting an actual Ebel.
