Chapter One: Up In Smoke

"I missed you, baby!" Those words passed through Crockett's mind as he rounded a corner and sped off to work, Crockett was in a great mood, he has his Ferrari Testarossa back after finding the collector who it was auctioned to (a coke dealer, now who would have expected that?). Miami had changed a bit, mainly the awful pumping sound of the music from the Caddy next to him at the red light with some stupid blue lights underneath the car. He would have said something as he often did back then when someone would pollute his presence with awful noise but nowadays you can never be sure who is armed to the teeth.

Back at the office, Tubbs was talking on the phone trying to chat up the county clerk who was maybe a decade younger than him but showed some interest.

"Yeah, hamburgers? I gotta my body in shape, sweetie. You know how red meat stays on your .... no I'm not a hippie. Hello? Hello?" She had hung up on our poor Vice detective.

"Carnivore." He said with a hint of hurt in his voice, the world had changed and so had the women. He thought everyone was on the south beach diet but was only a decade off..Castillo walked out of his office with the stare of a samurai.

"Where's Crockett?" Castillo sounded somewhat angry, Crockett is usually not this late except when he's out racking up speeding tickets.

"I don't know, he said he had to go take care of something personal this morning." Tubbs said lying like he felt he should have a moment ago on the phone.

"Let's go." Castillo said.

"Go where?" - Tubbs and wasn't provided with an answer as Castillo walked towards the door. Tubbs grabbed his coat and followed him a few steps behind as Castillo to avoid that angry samurai vibe. Tubbs also was ignoring the big box sitting on a lone desk along with everyone else in the building.

Crockett this time was really stuck in traffic, four cars up was a turned-over semi trailer for a bakery.

"Unbelievable, the Pillsbury doughboy should not be allowed to drive again." Crockett said noting the size of the driver and pulled out a cigarette, he lit it and place it between his lips, another old habit back in the day which was now seen as something bad to do much like speeding through red lights which he couldn't do anymore due to those stupid cameras. Crockett continued to watch the squabble between the driver and some young woman who stopped every three seconds to check her phone.

Castillo and Tubbs were now in the parking garage of OCB. Tubbs starts to walk towards his Cadillac but noted Castillo wasn't having any of it.

"Ride with me." Castillo said which led to Tubbs dismay as to no drive with top down as Castillo was just driving a regular sedan but Tubbs said nothing as the pulled out of the garage and were stopped by a red light that was recently put up in front of OCB by some geniuses down at city hall.

"You know the mayor can stick this red light right up his ..." Tubbs quote was cut off when there was a deafening sound originating from the building marked Gold Coast. The windows had blown out as fireballs rushed out of the floor where their office was for years.

Chapter Two: Dazed and Confused

Crockett's field of vision was all a blur, all he saw was a pink ceiling which looked like it belonged in Barbie's play house. He was laying on a bed in a small room which had a film camera pointed in his direction. A porn set maybe? Not that he couldn't use the money but ... then he heard barely audible voices from outside the room. How did he get here from watching the texting young woman and the Pillsbury doughboy arguing over a semi? As he got up he fell to the ground which appeared to have not been mopped in a while. Two men in black suits came in and stood over him with shark grins that said of something sarcastic and evil.

"Aww, look, this guy's a mess! Whatcha' have to hit him so hard for, Mikey?" Suit one with graying hair and a comb over said.

"Forget him, in a few hours we will dump him in the river."  Mikey, suit two said who had his hair but was missing a few teeth.

"Yeah, why don't we just use him as a mop for the rest of his miserable existence? This place sure could use a good cleaning." - Suit one said noting the floor.

Suit one kicked Crockett and laughed like a hyena before the two suits left the room.

Halfway across town the cop who was on the scene of tractor trailer was still having a bad day as now he was investigating the burnt out wreckage of Crockett's Ferrari. Castillo and Tubbs had arrived on the scene after hearing which car it was.

"No, Lieutenant. There appears to be no driver, looks like the car was torched and someone's got your man Crocker."

"Crockett."

"Like Davy?"

"That's enough, officer."

The officer had felt the stare, the joke was ill-timed. He walked off his head held low. That stare though he thought.

"Lieutenant, I don't like this one bit."

Castillo said nothing. Someone's playing a deadly game with them and they had already taken the queen and knight.

Chapter Three: Shooting It Out

Crockett was lying on the ground in a heap feeling the pain of the wing-tipped shoes that had left the dents in his side. He knew he had nothing to lose if he took these two clowns who had just re-entered the room. He looked up at his attackers who were laughing maniacally at him.

"Remember Frank Mosca, Mista' Crockett? Well his son had sent me to send you a few words." Mikey said. Crockett was puzzled. Mosca had a son? This doesn't make sense but neither does getting kicked in the sides with wing tips.

"Jeez, you think it's just time we put this guy out of his misery?" -Suit one said extending this stereotypical clown show.

"What, are you freakin' kiddin' me?!"  Mikey said disappointed that his associate wants to ruin the fun.

"Well ..." Suit one said as he was just wanting to get home to watch Boardwalk Empire. They looked back down at Crockett.

"Hmm ... well, okay." Mikey said as he pulled out his gun and shoots suit one in the head.

"Sorry but just don't want to ruin the fun of torturing a cop!" Mikey said with a sense of sarcasm.Crockett was now shaking a bit, he usually doesn't but this bunch was a real psycho scene and Crockett was going to be the main act. Crockett tried to crawl over to the dead gangster on the floor but Mikey kicks him.

"Where you goin'?" Mikey said. Crockett stomached the pain as he did manage to grab what he was after which was the gun  in Suit one's belt, he waited a second to catch his breath and rolled over aiming at Mikey. Mikey grinned like the devil.

"Forgot about that, you're not going to shoot me are ya'?" Mikey said with smugness.Crockett defied that line and fired into Mikey who was stunned that his ego was shattered. He looks down at his bloodied suit more puzzled than in pain.

"I paid good money for this suit." He walked out the door and collapsed into the hallway dead. Crockett got up and checked the body, what the hell was going on here? Then he managed to limp to the front office door and opens to find he's in a trailer on the beach. As he collapsed onto the lawn he heard the sirens approaching hoping he would make it as he passed out.

Chapter Four: Man Down

Days later, Crockett awoke in another bed this time in the hospital. His vision was again blurry but he proceeded to sit up but as he did he felt a sharp pain in his chest, he looked down to see large bandages covering the area where he had received the Wing Tip wounds. He wondered where were the staf was and why wasn't he in a normal bed in a gown with an IV stand hooked to him? He couldn't remember anything other than the faint images of Ricardo Tubbs and Martin Castillo and of course who he is. Crockett slowly got up and stumbled towards the door, he opened it to see that he was just outside a darkened x-ray room. He stumbled his way to the door then down the hall to the elevator as he did the sound of that awful shark in the suit's laugh who left the damage was stuck in his mind. In the lobby, Tubbs was on the phone with someone.

"Yeah, Crockett ain't nowhere to be found. His room is empty." Tubbs said. Crockett walked into the lobby now even more puzzled. He was stopped short when he heard what Tubbs just said. "I don't care what your chief said, our building was bombed and one of our detectives is missing!"

Tubbs slammed the phone into the hook.

"What's going on, partner?" - Crockett said stumbling over in his mint colored hospital gown. Tubbs spun around.

"Crockett?!" Tubbs was both happy and surprised to hear that voice.

"What's wrong, partner?" Crockett said.

"You heard me ..." Tubbs said.

"Yeah, Tubbs. Jesus." Crockett said, just back on the force and all hell broke loose.

"Afraid not many left alive, Crockett. Gina and Trudy were downstairs when it blew but Augustine and Gorman didn't make it."

Crockett tried to stay stoic, Augustine was there since he first joined with Vice. Gorman was a newer face and had a bright future ahead of him. Crockett wished he felt more but was in too much shock.

"Afraid the mob goons torched your car pal. You should be in a hospital bed though, when they called and said where you were ..."

"Who?" Crockett interrupted.

"Just a voice on the phone. Female. Sounded English." Tubbs said.

"Right. Right." Crockett felt awful.

"Look you should be back in your room, I'm sticking around pal to keep an eye on you. Someone had you moved for a reason."

"I woke up down in x-ray." Crockett said.

"What?"

"Nobody was down there though." Crockett said.

"Hmm, I'm calling the bomb squad to check your room." Tubbs said before grabbing the phone. "Yeah, this is Detective Tubbs, Vice ..."

And that's when the hospital rocked as the bomb they planted in Crockett's room exploded prematurely.

Is there more to this?

I thought I had finished all my stories in the fan fiction section, I remember the ending to this vaguely but don't have any of the original manuscripts to these. I've been considering redoing some of these especially as I have learned the magic known only as the space bar and some do make me cringe now.

Yeah, it did strike me as kinda odd you had many FanFic -threads but everyone seemed to be unfinished. Maybe so´me maintenance related -issue since these threads are quite old.

Anyway, the reason I looked into fanfics was since I was thinking of drawing a comic out of one. Would be fun to draw Miami Vice....
