*kicks her parents for this one*:Teen sensation Miley Cyrus has issued an apology after Vanity Fairput a semi-naked photo of the star on its front cover, insisting sheis "embarrassed" by the images. (Cover photo | Candid image slideshow)The 15-year-old posed for the Vanity Fair magazine shoot wearingnothing but a blanket wrapped around her chest. But the pictures, taken by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, have caused outrage, just a week after candid snaps of thesinger/actress posing provocatively in lingerie were leaked on theInternet. And Cyrus now admits she regrets going ahead with the magazine shoot. She says, "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to workwith Annie. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed tobe 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story,I feel so embarrassed."I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to myfans who I care so deeply about."Speaking about the other set of photographs which ended up on theWeb, she says, "The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots."I hope (my fans) understand that along the way I am going to makemistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this tohappen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone."Most of all, I have let myself down."Disney Channel bosses have also condemned the Vanity Fair images, accusing the publication of creating "a situation was created todeliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."But Vanity Fair has defended the shoot, insisting the images weregiven the green light by the star, her parents and her management.A spokesman tells Us Weekly magazine, "Miley's parents and/or minderswere on the set all day."Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot andeveryone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley." http://news.aol.com/entertainment/movies/movie-news-story/ar/_a/cyrus-criticized-for-pose-with-father/20080429080609990001?icid=100214839x1201002778x1200037849 and I will add my $.02 I am also disappointed with whoever is looking out for Miley's best interest. It is sick that they would allow this to happen to her . These pictures and sooo close to being child pornography!! would any of you allow your daughters to have their pics taken like this? especially at ONLY 15??this really makes me mad!!! This is Child porn plain and simple no one really cares about her best interests just what $$$ she brings in those heartless blood suckers!!!!!!Eingefügtes Bild

Not at all. Child porn involves children. Miley Cyrus isn't a child nor does she look like one.

I thought the article said she was 15. Fifteen is a child still in this country even if she looks 25.

Billy Ray is a religious guy. I'm surprised he let her pose in this manner! :o

I guess it all depends if he follows the bible. It looks like he doesn't.Eingefügtes Bild

OK, OK, the picture of her in VF was gross because a 15 year old wrapped in a sheet giving a come hither look doesn't do anything for me. My first thought was "Put on a shirt." But calling it child porn? That's a bit of a stretch. Even calling it nearly child porn is far off the mark. What we have here is an ambitious young lady (they have those in Hollywood, I hear), who is trying to set herself up for the day she can break out of the Disney roles. In her mind, she's trying to build a career. The fact that these methods left most of the country (and perhaps the world) appalled shows that she and her handlers are way out of step with what the audience finds appropriate. The popular culture has got to stop sexualizing young girls. Miley isn't a trailblazer here, she's just acting on what she's seen and grown up with. Parents who let their junior high daughters wear belly shirts and low-rise jeans are part of the problem, too.

I agree with you VC. It's that same discussion that's been going on for years. To get a head in a women's career, must they show flesh at a young age? Can't they do it by talent alone and if later they want to show a bit of flesh it's their choice and shows it wasn't the only way to get somewhere? Then the male role, he doesn't have to show skin in that way, especially at a young age. Double standards will always be there, they may get better but they will never completely go away. Shame that a 15 years old, her manager and entourage feels she has to do that. And again being in a sheet isn't naked, it only shows the illusion of it. Still at 15, she is impressionable and only listening to the way people think her career should go. Unless she is one that is very opinionated and stubborn at her age...I don't know, don't know the girl.

It all seems a bit unseemly, though 15 year old girls have been known to do some wild and rebellious things. I find it odd that she would do the shoot and whilst being photographed be totally unaware of how the pictures would look. This could all be a lot worse and summed up with one name. Lindsay Lohan.

But the parents are in control here and should be accountable more so than the child. As JD said, I think Viceman summed it up pretty well earlier.
