The Glades (A&E TV Show)

So far the show has not impressed me but at least it promises to show a lot of great Fla locations. The first episode was filmed in the Tampa area and in Broward County. Hopefully it will include scenes further South as well. The opening scene is not the main Everglades, which is a river of grass. In the pilot, anyone recognize the Don Cesar, known as the Pink Castle, on St. Petersburg Beach? When Thomas Rowe built the Don Cesar in 1925, he included a replica of a fountain where he used to meet his love, a young European woman named Lucinda. He met her while a student in Europe, but her parents forbade the relationship. He returned to America, but never forget her. He often wrote letters to her, but they were returned to him unopened. Upon her death, he received a letter from her, indicating that she had never forgotten him either. The fountain was taken down in a renovation, but guests still report seeing the young couple walking hand in hand on the same spot.Eingefügtes Bild

The Don Cesar Resort was also seen in the Robert DeNiro film Once Upon A Time In America in a scene that was set in Miami Beach but filmed in St. Petersburg.

Interesting Tommy. Must have been a good trick to pass off St. Pete as Miami Beach. There are few similarities.

`The Glades' brings police drama to South Floridahttp://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9GN04EG0.htm"Besides being set in South Florida, the show is filmed in the Fort Lauderdale area . . . Soundstages were built in an industrial space in Pembroke Park, a Fort Lauderdale suburb, but Campbell said they generally shoot outside on location five days a week."======================================='The Glades' shooting in Pembroke Park for July debut on A&E"Shooting began last week in a former carpet warehouse on 32nd Avenue."http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2010-05-03/features/fl-pembroke-park-tv-show-20100502_1_fox-television-studios-pembroke-park-carpet-warehouse

I thought it was interesting that he started out as a Florida Trooper in the pilot. By the second episode he worked for FDLE, which are totally seperate agencies. FDLE would actually be the most appropriate since Florida Troopers don't work homicides.

According to comments on the net the following locations were used:The opening scene is Fisheating Creek in Palmdale W. of Lake Okeechobee and N. of the Everglades. (Photo below)Eingefügtes BildThe golf course in the Pilot is the West Course at Belleair Country Club, Bellair, Fla. (Not too far from the Don Cesar) The second episode about the smuggled birds used Le Tub on the Intercostal side of A1A in Hollywood Beach for the bar scene.Working on verifying these locations but it's probably good info.Full episodes are here: http://www.aetv.com/the-glades/

Does anyone know the bar they portrayed as Cancuns Beach club "Cheaters" in season 1 episode 8. Looks like it's located in Hollywood, FL but I can't place it since I'm not down that way often.
