Stinger' date='Yep, we go ther alot. Our home port is only about six miles away from it. We also frequent Kellys. The Bay is by far more roudy. Let me know and I can help you find dockage and launch facilities. Are you the new owner of MY-VICE. I talked to the guy who fixed it up some time back. That boat sure looks nice! looking forward to talking to you.Jim[/quote']Sounds great Jim.Yes I bought the boat off Todd and he did lots of upgrades to modern stuff such as the throttles and engines etc.I will keep in touch here and let you know when I get over to Lake Erie. I am planning a little romp in the lake there as my home lake is actually Ontario. I have heard of Kelly's Island as well. You say the Bay is roudy? Is that a bad thing? :)ttyl...

Stinger, No Roudy is good. Kellys has a bar called the Casino (NOT) but there is dockage up front where all the go fast boats dock. It is right in front of the bar with lots of people watching on nice days. The bay is a must see at least for one night. tons of people doing all the drinking things. Also the worlds longest bar. Also a swim up bar. good food and expesive drinks. $4 a can!!!Depending on the weather, We may bring our cruiser instead. (much more room) The boats raft out four deep so bring fenders and lines. You can google both put in bay and kellys.Where to you intend to launch?See YaJim

If everything works out????I plan to launch from Port Colbourne and go to Pottohawk the second weekend in July. Then cross the lake and go to Put-In-Bay or Kelly's??? right after Pottohawk pissup.I'll probably stay for a couple of days and hang out and then drive back to Port Colbourne to trailer back to Lake Ontario. That's the plan......unless something else happens?

Lots of FAKES out there to fool the unknowing twit!I have seen pictures of the boat in Holland--another FAKE! Anyone can have a dash plate made up and say "it's the boat for MV!"I love the kid with the 21 foot boat who was on the other fourm....every post had this on his first line.."As most of you know--I own the Scarab used on the TV show"BALONEY!!!!His fake 21 bath tub toy was a Universal Orlando Stunt show boat! Some of us have "Miami Vice" Edition boats' date=' and Smacky has the "REAL DEAL"just setting the record straight![/quote']yes it seems the kid with the" bathtub toy" ha ha ha as you so eloquently put it is getting under everyones skin everytime i search wellcraft 38 kv that boat pops up somewhere either this guy was misled or he honestly belives that little stunt boat is the real show boat but now it is for sale i wish he would take down his posts it's almost like he is boasting

I can tell you that they only built 12 of the Stingers and I own hull number 102 of that production year. As for the Wellcraft, I too have heard in excess of 100 on another site called Offshoreonly.com. Somewhere there I read the same thing as they were a very common boat. When MV was still on the air a guy I know here in Niagara bought a Scarab but could only get it in black. There were no MV coloured ones left. He spent a fortune on the engines and put rollers and huge blowers on the blocks to make it a REAL Go-Fast boat! I haven't seen that Scarab on Lake Ontario now for over a decade, but it was real sweet when it cruised by. You could hear it coming for miles! Made a lot of noise and a lot of wake.As for the high numbers of excess of one hundred hulls, I wonder actually how many were of the MV paint scheme? If you think of it...that is a lot of hulls for a hundred thousand dollar plus boat?!?!?!?!?!?

Its wet exhaust like most boats. My pipes are underneath the swim platform and I have "Shotgun Silencers" which make my neighbours VERY happy at the marina. It's loud when you open it up but when you idle it rumbles quaintly. Those hundred or so KV's also came with different optioned powerplants. My friend had the blown big blocks, but you could also get naturally exasperated carburated blocks as well. It depends on your pocket whether you can afford the fuel. Naturally exasperated blocks would run 30-35 gph and blown blocks could consume 60-65 gph easily at WOT.It would depend on what you wanted the boat for. Poker Runs...or just cruising the beaches.

wet exhaust yeah most boats have that unless they have big cams to avoid reversion then they use dry it seems that many people are opposed to noise what a shame even the river cops are giving tickets I am not a big fan of blown motors but i shure do like normaly aspirated motors 350 sbc pushing 575 hp / 560 tq out the back end actually this motor is stroked let me guess about your stinger you are running 454 motors coupled to borg warner trans 72c with trs outdrives ?? if your 72 cs bite the dust look into bam's cyborg trans or a crashbox trans really tuff and they last a while

I have Mirage 4-blade stainless 21's.My tranny's are "Velvet Drives" and yes I do have TRS Out Drives. The original engines that came in my boat were blown 454's but they were replaced in 1999 with stock 420's with single carbs (much better on fuel!)The boat is a bit slower but at the expense of gas I like the way it's set up now as it is quick enough without putting me in the poor house too soon.

Brotherskeeper, sorry I have not checked in for a while. I have done some research and they 100 MV KV's is false, the Miami Vice Editions probably only number about 30-35, you know OSO pretty well and we have a small group on there. I wish somebody would jump on the KV for sale in Oklahoma, its a pretty nice untouched stock MV 38KV.Are you looking at buying a 38KV?

I am looking for a boat either project or turn key i am still undecided between a kv or panther i also wouldn't mind a scarab 3 i heard they ride real nice in the rough

Hey Brotherskeeper.I know a guy with a Scarab III and he says they handle quite nice. I had a short ride in it last summer and they turn nice and handle chop well. They have good power and have sexy lines(I think at least...) with the sloped windscreen etc.Nice boat........................As for Panther I would not want one as they are a bit skinny for me in the main area. Same as many Cigarettes. They do not have enough beam and make movement in the passenger area restricted. They claim the boats go faster with less beam, but I have found that wide boats handle better than long skinny ones. The Fountains are nice (if you can afford one?) (my buddy Stan has a Fountain and it is AWESOME!) as well as the Scarab lines and Profiles, to name a few...Wellcraft make some VERY good boats, both go-fast and cruisers.
