airtommy
Daytona is blown up We've known for a long time that this was filmed at the sand pit in the northern part of Virginia Key. But the exact spot and orientation has not been pinpointed. In Missing Hours they have a scene in the same sand pit area. CGlide drew a diagram of that scene. How did he come up with the orientation? The key bit of info is that the downtown Miami skyline is visible as the Air Force guys approach: So the Air Force guys are on the East side looking Westward toward Miami. At the end when Tubbs races to confront the Air Force guys, he drives down the "ramp" on the northwest corner. This is the same ramp C&T drive down at the start of the Irish scene. How do I know this for certain? Because the sand cliff behind the bad guys in both Missing Hours and Irish has all kinds of distinctive features that can be matched You can even match up the Australian Pine trees in many places if you stare at it hard enough. The reason the trees look different is because Irish clip was filmed from down on the floor of the sand pit, whereas Missing Hours was filmed from the higher elevation of the mini cliffs. Sadly, none of this remains. This whole area totally overgrown now: Edited April 19, 2019 by airtommy 2
Tom
The first interior pic of the Bunny Berrigan house at 241 Harbor Drive, KB where they filmed the scene at the pool. The house has been remodeled in 2006 and looks awful now inside. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/241-Harbor-Dr_Key-Biscayne_FL_33149_M68849-90831 Edited December 5, 2020 by Tom
airtommy
In the 41st minute, we see Tubbs' Caddy tailing the black van: They are near the airport, driving north on NW 7th Ave with NW 11th St just ahead. https://goo.gl/maps/Hya2g6bwtTBJxqbH9 The white house is still there but is now hidden by trees. The Winn Dixie is now a different store. @C Glide

As for the exact address: the building vis a vis the WinnDixie is 935 NW 37 Ave. The WinnDixie building itself gives a strange address on Google (7xx NW 37 Ave). airtommy
The Winn Dixie address was 3701 NW 7th St: https://www.google.com/search?q=miami+winn+dixie+3701 The freeway overpass is what made it easy to find. When I first looked at this 6 years ago, the only clue I noticed was the Winn Dixie. That wasn't very helpful because there were a ton of Winn Dixies in Miami back in the 1980s and most are gone now. Because as we clearly see on the map the driving segment was filmed on 37 Ave between NW 9th and 11th Street, not at 7th Street. NW 7th Street is the postal address for the big shopping mall that starts much further south at 7th street and whereof the former Winn Dixie is the northernmost building. Tom
nice old pic from Washington/6th Street, with great colors in When Irish eyes, also seen in background in Freefall (teaser/chase)
Tom
Some call sheets from this turbulence episode with lots of changes and schedule revisions (there were lots of accidents, director Di Leo got hit by a slug and rushed to hospital, PMT double Ernie Robinson got arrested by police for speeding and it took time to get him out to continue filming, ...) no news, we found all locations already long time ago, also C Glide has copies of these call sheets as far as I remember.
Tom
Eddie Kay´s shack at Jimbo´s Eddie Kay´s shack was at the end of a row of houses at Jimbo´s. Interesting to compare and see the same shack in "The Afternoon plane", just filmed a few months later without any gas station decoration in front. Left to the shack there was a bit of space to the next house with a small road in between. That´s where Crockett´s Daytona came from. The shack was exactly opposite that small roofed veranda where Tubbs&Alicia tried to get some help from fishermen in The Afternoon plane and visible in several scenes in the latter episode. See comparison below. Click to enlarge.
Tom
607 Washington Ave, where C&T meet Izzy and his dogs. The rare pic is from the late 1980s, not much has changed since July 1986.
Tom
The Sheraton near Miami airport as Carroon´s hotel was only briefly seen in this episode, but it is still there and recognizable. Carroon used the side entrance when getting into the black Ferrari that was later confiscated and given to Crockett after a repaint

One side entrance off NW21st St at the airport as Tom’s post, always thought they used the main entrance a few hundred yards away so this was interesting for me Edited March 24, 2023 by Matt5
