Richie Rich
Cluster Bomb Photo - I see the Army "Jump Wings", right next to the bullet (aren't those illegal to posses in Cali, along with handguns, knives, nail clippers, penknives, etc etc.), and also an "Uncle Sam Wants You" or "You've been Drafted" telegram, and Vietnam Service Medal (gold with 3 red stripes), which is next to a National Defense Service Medal (red and yellow, with red, white & blue stripes) along with Army dog tags and letters home from VietnamHope you got the cluster bomb deactivated. C&B - you there? Thought I heard a loud boom - maybe that was just the Space Shuttle landing at Cape Kennedy or something?! Army Enlisted Judge Advocate Insignia Army Officer Judge Advocate InsigniaC& B - looks like the insignia that you have sitting on top of the telegram is for an Army officer - from the Judge Advocate Corps. I think that I can recall that Crockett was enlisted, and I remember him having "Infantry Soldier" duties. Set me right if I have this wrong, please?!Then you would need enlisted infantry insignia, like this:I found that you can get it here for $11:http://www.1starmy.com/Newarrivals.aspAt the bottom of this page: "Army Enlisted Infantry Insignia"And you thought you only needed to spend $30 for the lighter? Football Photo - his orange jockstrap, worn when catching the winning pass in the Gator BowlYour correct, of course.I based my photo from this shot from MIAMI VICE. It's not entirely accurate, but wanted to capture the feel of the shot. I used what I had available.Crockett was with FIRST CAV.
Richie Rich
Crockett was with FIRST CAV.I was hesitant to offer a "correction". But you are so cool' date=' I somehow decided to not worry about it, as I assumed you'd want to know. We are talking about the "ultimate MV collection", anyhow. So now I've put my little "signed brick" into the wall of the collection, and will forever be a part of it. First Cav - cool. Then you need Army Enlisted Cavalry insignia, like this:[img']http://www.1starmy.com/uploadimages/Product_4765_right.JPGhttp://www.1starmy.com/viewproduct.asp?Productno=4765Interesting screen cap there. Now I see a Purple Heart, with the G. Richie Rich
Wow, looks like we might have been better off to go with an entirely separate thread for all this stuff. But, what can we state about Crockett's Vietnam War service to his country? One, he did serve his country in time of need. He served in the US Army and went to Vietnam. He did not dodge the draft, did not go to Canada to avoid the draft, and did not refuse to serve.Second, he served with bravery. In fact, with a very high degree of bravery. This is evidenced by the the awarding of both the Siver Star and Bronze Star, for bravery. Add to this the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, which shows that his bravery was recognized by 2 different countries - the USA and South Vietnam.Third, he even left a little part of himself in this country when he left, evidenced by the Purple Heart. This means he was wounded in combat. He was not in the rear somewhere. He was near the front, and was involved in the fighting, as a member of the First Cavalry. His achievement was something extraordinary, as most servicemen and women did not leave Vietnam with such a display of medals. In fact, some only left with a Purple Heart, awarded because they gave their life after suffering mortal wounds. But they are not forgotten. In fact, as Americans we owe them our freedom, which we enjoy every day. We will never be able to repay this debt, but we can remember them by continuing to live in freedom, and by praising this ultimate sacrifice that they have made. My father patrolled the docks of New Orleans during WW II. He was nearly killed when a crane on the dock slammed into his head, and fractured his skull. He was lucky to survive, fortunately for me. Richie Rich
Will do, Coop.I'll do it over the weekend. Fascinating stuff, huh? Thanks for posting the MV screen cap. That is what peaked my interest and got me started. Crockett did have an occupation other than police detective, and it should be examined.
