Matt5
Closed to the public but this is a nice picture of the Palmeiras beach club at Grove Isle, Coconut Grove seen at times in the closing montages from Season 1-5 . I believe the first time we saw the pool shot was in the Pilot ?!
Matt5
During the end credits for Season 1s "Little Prince" on the blu ray last nite I noticed this image below which I believe only ever appeared in that episode. At 47:51 it's of the Intercontinental Hotel on Chopin Plaza from Chopin Plaza at an aerial level with a high zoom across to the Port of Miami and the islands into West Avenue in Miami Beach. Blink and you'll miss it - it's a half second shot if that.! The second picture is Today looking across to the Port of Miami Edited July 25, 2017 by Matt5

Matt5
A nice aerial on my twitter feed today of Bal Harbor looking south from Haulover Park. We see this area throughout the show in the opening credits and end credits.(and in Season 1s “Great McCarthy”), (the park at the bottom right of the picture was also seen in Season 4s “Rock and a Hard Place”) Edited January 2, 2018 by Matt5 3
Matt5
Calder Racetrack (now Calder Casino) just north of Miami Gardens was featured at times in the end credits with the horses. I visited this location on 1/31/17 and going through my pictured shortly to upload The main building ( as seen below with a view from Miami Vice) was being demolished as I visited.

This is what was left of the building when I went in 2017 - in my picture you can see the small building with awnings in front of the main building which we also saw in Miami Vice. The two palm trees are also still there - as is the side building but the main building is gone. This is the angle we saw in the closing montages as of 1/31/17 Edited February 2, 2018 by Matt5
Matt5
Some more of Calder - I’m not sure how active the horse racing is now as the emphasis seems to be on the Casino. It was still cool to see it though last year Edited February 2, 2018 by Matt5
Matt5
It was a long way from the beaches this location! I remember I did it on the same day as the former known Love 94 Studios (“Amen...Send Money” / “Stones War”) which was quite nearby. Im sure a year later the building we saw during the closing montages is now long gone - remember the horses and starting gate we see during the first and second Season montages was shot over at Gulfstream near Aventura. airtommy
@C Glide During most of Season 1, we see this shot during the opening montage: This is located at 777 Brickell Avenue, not 701 Brickell as reported before. The reason for this mistake is because 777 has been modified so heavily that today 701 looks a lot more like our Vice shot than 777. 701 on the left 777 on the right But if you look closely, you'll notice two problems with 701. First, it just has one high-rise column. Our Flagship building has something jutting out towards the left at the lower levels. Second, the windows are much taller than the stone "stripes". Our Flagship building has stone "stripes" that are much taller than the windows. Here they are in the 1980s before renovation: 701 = Barnett Bank 777 = Sun Bank Edited August 26, 2018 by airtommy 3

Here they are in the 1980s before renovation: 701 = Barnett Bank 777 = Sun Bank All very interesting - I’ve been to 701 Brickell a number of times over the years and could never match up the shot due that lower part of the building. Always put it down to redevelopment but as you stand under 701 that does sure look like the Flagship of Miami building we see in the Season 1 credits. I can’t say I’ve even noticed 777 ha ha! However it looks a lot smaller and has the lower level we see. I pulled the below image from google streetview - so the camera would have been located by the brown 701 stone post looking up to 777? Great work.
airtommy
No, I think the camera was far to the right of that brown 701 stone post in your shot. The camera was at the center of the tall wing of the 777 building. This is about the right spot. One more piece of evidence that 777 is correct: Edited August 26, 2018 by airtommy

One more piece of evidence that 777 is correct: I actually stumbled upon the below pictures, when looking for a good location trivia question last night, (which I took in 2017) when taking photos of 800 Brickell (“Great McCarthy”). I was also taking pictures from the 800 Brickell entrance looking to Brickell/SE 8th St to Brickell Bay Drive.( “Heart of Darkness”, Artie phone box) and in doing so unbeknown to myself at that time some images of the 777 building! I think that the famous flyover clips from the opening montage may not actually "belong" to Miami Vice. Don't shoot! What I mean is, as I look at the segments closely there are a couple of things that stand out.1) At times as the camera approaches land we can see in the top right corner of the screen a brief glimpse of the shoreline. To me it appears there is a low hill in the background. Not a mountain by any means but higher than anything in South Florida2) Then we see what I generally dismissed as drftwood. I may have brought this up in the past but I don't recall it being resolved. My eyes are not what they were but as I zoom in on the driftwood it looks like an outrigger canoe as one sees in places like Hawaii. Could this be footage from Magnum PI which started in 1980???? I don't know how I overlooked this post until now. Incredible detective work!

Matt5
For 1988s “A Bullet for Crockett” from Season 4 the Haulover Beach closing credits shot was quite unique- it was one of the very few times, if only time since the Pilot, in the Series run we saw the camera rolling/ looking so north. Particularly unique is the closing credits feature on Haulover Pier (“Rock and a Hard Place”) then moving south to more familiar closing credits scenes we see in the series run. This is the best view we get of Haulover Pier and Haulover Park from the Straits of Florida in the Series 5-year run. @miamijimf Edited September 15, 2018 by Matt5
Matt5
Watching the 1986 Season 2 finale “Sons and Lovers” we see this shot in the closing credit montage. This is the only time in the Series run I believe we see this shot, maybe one more episode if that.
