yeah and I can believe it, me and my father once looked into getting one as my graduation present about 5 years ago, specifically the rolex submariner like bond wore in the early films but I found it to be too heavy for my taste and instead opted for his old omega dress watch that he had stored away (the submariner is more of a working, beat the hell out of it and it'll keep ticking kinda watch)although I gotta admit even though I love my gold 62' omega seamaster deville with the classic 60's font (the new ones have an ugly font that I just hate as I had looked into a new one as the charge/wind time is only about 18 hours, kind of a pain in the butt if you leave it off for a day) I've always liked the ones Crockett used in MV, all of them (another reason why I opted for the omega was the fact that it was a gold watch like the crockett watches, not silver)and well I do want to eventually aquire the ebel and the rolex down the line along with the vette, basically its on the to do list lol!

I think you made a good, and smart choice. I'd like to get an ebel as well.I believe the running time without winding it on my watch is something like three days.

Thanks and yeah that's why I was thinking of getting a more modern watch, but I've gotten used to wearing it all the time so it doesnt really bother me that much anymore, actually for that matter I believe people used to sleep with their watches on for that very reason like PMT did during Little Miss Dangerous at the end.plus actually its because of the fact that he gave it to me that its working right now, the thing needed a tune up to work right (hence why he stopped wearing it 30 years ago) and I just so happened to bump into a watch collector at a local gunshow who pointed me towards a guy in watertown MA who runs watertown watch and clock that works primairly with vintage watches who fixed it for a 100 bucks with a 2 week turn around via mail vs 6 months and more than the old watch was worth to fix it if I had sent it back to omega in switzerland apparently according to the guy at the mall who deals in rolexs, plus then chances are from the trip back alone it would have needed another tune up, so since then its been about 3 or 4 years and its been working perfectly this whole time, although I did change the watchband twice to better fit my arm which made a big difference in the comfort of wearing the watch in the first place hence why I kept taking it off at first and why I was getting so annoyed with the wind time of the thing.and thats another thing if its gets uncomfortabile after wearing it for awhile dont hessitate to go to the mall or something and have a new longer watchband fitted, it really does make a huge difference when wearing it, just however make sure the band is wide enough so theres no play where the watch connects to the wrist band otherwise it can mar up the finish going back and forth up and down your arm, although mine is the stretch band type, yours is probably the clasp type so it might be a non issue with yours in that regard if you stick to that kind of clasp.

It's kind of elegant. I can't wear the watch to bed, it's too bulky to be comfortable when trying to sleep. I have a Movado Esperanza, and that is light, and thin enough to wear to bed.I hear that servicing the Rolex watch will be something like $500.00.

hmm indeed actually there was a thread about that on the smith and wesson forums a few months agoalthough considering that its a new watch and everything else its probably best to have only rolex service it as long as possibile, although thats only what once every 10 years? and with a vintage watch you kinda have to throw that to the wind as the watertown guy told me that with the old watches you actually have to use period correct oil as thats whats been in there in the past 40 years, well 50 years since the watch was new back in 62' with mine so natually the lubricant needed for an old watch is going to be different from a modern watch just like with an old car actually and if you try and use modern stuff it well it can damage the watch, so its probably a good thing I didnt go the omega route as they might have used modern lubricants and agitated the problem, not to mention everything else.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w17/steven-spielberg/100_2732.jpgThis is the watch Sonny Crockett would wear if the show were on the air now, or if they started a new series. This is the new, large size (41mm) case. The size he wore on the show was the 36mm version, which was the largest size President Rolex made until something like 2009 or something.I bought the closest to the same type and style Crockett wore in Season one. It has the Champagne face with the stick markers. This is the newest redesign Rolex has made on this style of watch for many, many years. It is a double quick set, and has the newest style of hidden bracelet clasp. This is one AWESOME Swiss timepiece!

That is EXACTLY like my watch that I have!Nice closeup pics Coop!

Thanks about the closeup pictures. I was a bit worried, as this, unfortunately, is the closest I can take shots. Some cameras can zoom in closer, but the closer I get, the blurrier the picture gets. It's the best that I'm able to do with my camera.Stinger, you have the new style 2011 41mm Rolex too?? How sweet is that!

Yow! That's some watch!! :eek:Make sure you don't do like my Dad did. He was given a Rolex by a wealthy acquaintance and forgot to screw it totally shut when diving. Of course it filled up with seawater...he was advised to soak it in fresh water and bring it to the repair shop. It did work after that but kept losing minutes each day...so he pawned it :D

Very nice Coop! :thumbsup:Did you buy a "shaker" box to keep it in when you are not wearing it? It moves the watch back and forth to simulate the movement when wearing it. This way you never have to wind and adjust the time if it sits idle for more than a few days. Not that that's going to happen right?! :eek:Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I have five of them actually. One is a stand alone watch winder version, and the other is a four watch winder with a deep lacquered wood box. I don't recall what type of wood, but it sure is beautiful. I can program each of the four winders to wind either to the left, or right, and and different times, some more frequently than the others, or I can turn any of them off, and let the others run.Yep, I'm covered Timm525!

Hey! It's my internet soul mate!! Oh darn, I forgot, your married.:cry:Under the circumstances, I think your dad was smart pawning it.I won't swim with it on, or shower with it on. I just don't feel comfortable wearing it in water.

I hear having it polished by the dealer, or an experienced jewler can help make yours look new again.

Great watch. A little to big for me :DBut I like to box to. Enjoy it!!!!

Too big for you? I should think so, this is man's watch.Rolex has noticed the trend in watches that people are buying watches with bigger cases, so to meet the demand, Rolex made some of thier classic watches bigger. They still have the same size watches, these are just a new choice. The larger size means it cost a LOT more money. I figured I may as well have Rolex's top of the line President. It looks better on the wrist then it does laying flat, or in a box.
