Matt5
Watched this episode last nite - as Jeremy pointed out the Izzy/ Clarence / pharmasist "kidnapping" interior scenes were filmed inside the old Miami fire station at 1000 South Miami Avenue , just behind Brickell , which is now part of Brickell Village . https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/1000+S+Miami+Ave/@25.764267,-80.193219,3a,90y,267h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sdAv03RXZy74zGbVBVdfDAg!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x88d9b6840cf14a09:0x98579046df4d84f6!6m1!1e1 Edited April 20, 2014 by Matt5
Matt5
Watched this episode again last nite - as the Izzy/ Clarence / pharmasist "kidnapping" interior scenes were filmed inside the old Miami fire station#4 at 1000 South Miami Avenue , just behind Brickell , which is now part of Brickell Village . I visited this location in February 2017 which is now a restaurant.
Matt5
A few more of that location including a screen shot from the fall 1986 episode.
Matt5
The stretch of beach in North Beach seen in this episode (looking south) at 74th Street. We also see this in “Definately Miami” from Season 2 and Season 4s “Contempt of Court” (looking North)
Matt5
Some more NYC shots (establishing) of the skyline appeared in this episode. Again these shots were not seen or reused from “Prodigal Son” which shot all over NY. I cant figure out if this was shot from the East River side (as we saw in the “Prodigal Son”) or the Hudson River side of Manhattan. A few noticeable landmarks are seen(Chrysler and Empire State Buildings). Edited November 22, 2018 by Matt5

Looking at some more photos I’d say these shots were from the East River side but not from over the river on Roosevelt Island as we saw in the Season 2 opener “Prodigal Son”. The Chysler building is closer to the camera and to the right of the Empire State Building so points to me being on the East River side of Manhattan. Matt5
This is the area in the above shots we see in “Better Living Through Chemistry” - summarised below. Mid-Town Manhattan looking east (not from “Prodigal Son” which shot over the East River).

Tom
A 1980s pic of Firestation No.4 at 1000 S. Miami Ave as used in this episode in September 1986 for the abduction scenes with Izzy and Lunar. The Firestation was abandoned in 1980 and planned for destruction in 1981, but saved due to ideas of preservationists to save it and turn it into a restaurant (it opened in July 1988 as "Firehouse 4" and became the Salero restaurant later) and finally some local politicians joined the band wagon. Tom
This picture of the Miami skyline in 1986 is a gem because it shows the Bayside Marketplace in construction and how the location of the final shoot out looked like. The date of this picture can be pinpointed exactly to end of 1986 (Oct-Dec) because in Better living through chemistry (filmed 16-24 September, see 2nd pic below) we see the Marketplace in concrete bare construction without roof and in this picture the roof is completed. Bayside was opened on 15 April 1987 by the way. Edited September 18, 2022 by Tom

Tom
With the rare interior pics of long gone Club Pizazz taken by Phil Klem (also posted in the Behind the scenes thread) we can see now how big the club was and where the 2nd floor gallery was located where the Michael Jackson look-alike dealer offed himself with the synthetic sample overdose. Club Pizazz was on the second floor of a building within a shopping mall. I also add the exterior pics here to save these and to have them all in one place.

Tom
Here is the production rundown for this episode, filmed right after Walk-Alone. 7 days of filming from 16-24 September. @airtommyAgain they filmed, but cut a whole scene, this time an important one, the bookie shooting flashback that would have shown us why Batisse is so p*ssed at Tubbs. Read the whole scene below. The location list before filming still had the North Miami Beach water plant at 2080 NE 160 Street (later used in Child´s play and Redemption in blood) on the plan. Then they changed it and filmed the final shoot out at the Bayside construction site (Bayside was opened in mid April 87). Day 1: Tuesday 16 September, filming from 10:30 am to 10.12 pm at Batisse´s beachhouse (also used in Def Miami and Contempt of Court). Day 2: Wed 17 September, filming from 11 am to 10:41 pm at Izzy´s place and the studio. Day 3: Thu 18 September, filming from 11:30 am until 12:22 am the next day at the studio (Mack´s office, the DEA lab, OCB and NY prison interior. Day 4: Friday 19 September, 12:30 pm (long shoot the night before) until 12:29 am after midnight again. Now it gets interesting: they filmed the final shoot out at Bayside (location changed, see flipside) and then moved to the Guzman Cultural center in Downtown where they filmed the "Ext. NY Tenement" (scene 34) that is a flashback of Tubbs to the bookie shooting in NYC. This scene is after Castillo gives him the confidential file and before Tubbs asks Caatillo to fly to NYC. I think it s the biggest mistake of this episode to have cut this small scene, as the whole episode we hear about it but never can imagine what really happened (is Batisse wrong that Tubbs should have seen something or was it ice cold murder by a cop?). See the lost scene below. Day 5: Monday 22 September, filming 7:30 am until 7:16 pm. Old firestation. Martin Ferrrero hurts himself with glass on fingers on the set. Day 6: Tue 23 September, filming 7:30 am until 8:18 pm, first day of two at Club Pizazz. Again an inventive name "Chopped Hig Club" in the script. Patty Owen (Meldy) hurt her foot while on the dance floor. Day 7: 24 September, 7:30 am until 7:46 pm, Michael Talbott and John Diehl were there, but they did not film with them. I have pictures from the set and always wondered why Diehl was there because he is not in the club scenes. ENJOY the insights. More episodes to come.
