Tubbs:  "Do you get the feeling we've staked this crib before?"

Crockett:  "Yeah or down the street or on the next block or something"

I wonder if they ad-libbed the lines since they had filmed next door a few months before.

by the way there was no way they could have observed the pool area from where they were parked.

That was clear to me from the get as they were parked on the driveway in this scene (the mulchy driveway is briefly seen under the car and was a ridiculously bad observation point) and the pool was behind the house.

Yeah I noticed that reflection too. You'd be suprised if I'd tell you how many hours I've already spent looking for this house, that's actually when I also went over Hammock Lake Dr and missed the "DUVE" house although I was looking for that too. I also looked at a couple hundred realtor photos. The house looks brand spanking new in the episode, would be sad if it has been demolished. Maybe we can use a divide and conquer approach with each of us focus on a certain area?

The reflection is still bugging me because I found out how I was mislead for a 90 degree pool angle to the house and I still don’t get it...

If the white wall behind Tubbs in the Kitchen is the wall alongside SW 53 Ave (there is no wall on the Kendall drive side that I know of) how can the long white wall next to the pool, which is reflected by the kitchen glass door, run alongside the house, parallel to SW 53 Ave. magic double reflection?

Don’t get me wrong-the house is the location, no doubt, but my lessons learned session got stuck here yesterday night and  I have no explanation for that that fits to what I know of physics... maybe I need Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory to help or can you? @daytona365

there's a more simple explanation. I was wrong too with regards to the wall. It does not run along the street side of the property. In fact what we're seing behind Tubbs is two sections of a wall that encloses a patio behind the kitchen (There is a chair visible on the patio). Because the corner of the wall is hidden behind the corner of the house it gives the impression of a long wall however if you look closely, the wall section that is visible in the window facing west (behind the kitchen trolley) is much darker because it's in the shade.

The driveway runs along the west side of the house and seems to lead to a garage. There is only a very short, stand-alone wall section along the street, covering a walking access to the street

Thanks a lot! Great eye for details and impressive visualisations. Now, I have regained confidence in basic physics!

I did not recognize that patio wall at all. Bing does not work anymore on my Apple gadgets and Google is very blurry and artificial with its 3D views.

I still cannot believe I disregarded that house earlier, as I even travelled along SW53 Ave on Street View two weeks ago, considering the fact that it does not have a working entrance from SW 53 Ave and realizing that the entrance from SW88 Street has the very long heavy green driveway we were always looking for. In fact, when C&T drive up to the house, we see a big clearing within the long wooden jungle behind them. On historic aerials one can see that this clearing was there in 1986 and is exactly where the huge neighbor house is being built now. See my 2 pics below where I added the lot borders to the neighbor properties in purple.

Now, in hindsight, this surrounding is the only possible explanation for such a jungle driveway in whole Dade county.

In the episode they utilized that situation perfectly and also did a great job concealing the extended purple driveway around the building corner to the garage. On TV, it looks that left of the entrance front there is nothing than a few bushes and the end of the property.

The movie "Cocoon II - The Return" (1988) directed by Donald Petrie, starring Jessica Tandy, Don Ameche, Brian Dennehy and Steve Guttenberg was filmed in Miami and partly inside Pascal´s Pascal restaurant. As the restaurant does not exist anymore, this movie is the only other source of what it looked like inside. Below are some interesting comparisons, with Cocoon II on the left and MV on the right. The unique light columns are the same, but VICE has done some paint job on the walls left of the corner where Gina and Mosca sat down.

P.S. Cocoon II filmed around May-June 1988 and Blood and roses was filmed 29 Feb-8 March 1988, just if someone wonders how much time was between these two filmings.

This old picture shows the landmark sign of the Dixie Lily/Hammond Milling Company in Hialeah in this episode. It was a landmark as it was lit and had real water driving the mill on the roof. See also the episode still comparison below.

I remember it well, we used to see it from the Rustic Roller Rink in Hialeah.  It is an example of South Florida's forgotten southern heritage as one of its most popular products was grits.

That´s exactly what all senior Floridians say, with reference to the Roller Rink. Was a very popular place back then :funky:

the only time the Cook villa was on film elsewhere is Transporter 2 (2005) with Jason Statham. Short scene that stood in for another location (bad guy´s house) that was filmed elsewhere and edited together.

Around 2006 (one year after Transporter 2 was filmed - see post above) less vegetation in the entrance area than today allowed a better view to this MV location (Cook´s house). See 2006 and 2009 aerials below. The entrance was already paved at this point whereas it was mulched in 1988.

a few new interior pics of Mosca´s mansion that mostly match perfectly with the episode. Just some bad color changes (brown wood instead of white staircase) have been done. See below.
