Dadrian
I put this here instead of the “MV in Auction” forum, given the significance of the item. Way too much money, but still cool: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266163808455?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=o-6jEWxqTz6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=pubP6yz6RwS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Tom
nice shot of the stairs where the mourning scene took place.
Tom
RIP. Another location landmark bit the dust. Pater Ernesto´s house at 3447 William Ave was razed in 2022. On the Jan 2022 streetview it is still there, in the recent January 2023 one it is gone. See below. 1
airtommy
Castillo has drinks with Father Ernesto at Penrod's Cafe in Lummus Park in South Beach: This looks like the same camera angle (notice the lamp on the wall) It's from the TV show "Moon Over Miami". It starts around 25:00 - https://youtu.be/1vRcTfjxOLs?t=1500 You can see the Breakwater directly behind them, so they must be on the south side of the Art Deco Welcome Center. CGlide thinks Penrod's is on the north side. blue = Breakwater Hotel yellow = Penrod's Cafe in "Moon Over Miami" red = CGlide's theory for Penrod's Cafe in "God's Work" To be fair, there is a wall behind Castillo, and that works better with CGlide's theory. I don't understand why the sign was here, because Penrod's was down at 10th St. On 3/3/2021 at 7:01 AM, Tom said: long gone Penrod´s. Picture was taken in 1986. In studying this, I realized that we see the Winterhaven on the left side of Tom's pic. So, this Penrod's was at 14th Street. It all makes sense now.
miamijimf
So where was the Penrod's in God's Work? I probably missed something.
Tom
The location sheets of that episode that I have say it was filmed at Penrod‘s 1001 Ocean Drive.
airtommy
"God's Work" filmed at the 10th Street Penrod's. But it's tough to say for sure which side of the Art Deco Center building.
Tom
Production rundown of this episode, filmed 2-11 September 1987. Again, they filmed interesting scenes but cut it before airing. There were lots of interventions by the Catholic Church as the original draft showed church´s ignorance for AIDS sick people. Thus, the script was changed and diluted according to directrice Eliasberg. Thus the script history is much longer, ranging from early July until early September when shooting started. Location lists before production, nothing changed. The ext. Waterfront scene that was TBD on the location plan turned out to be filmed at the little park near Mount Sinai Hospital that was razed many years ago for the extension of the Mt. Sinai parking lot. Day 1, Wed 2 September, filming 9:30am until 7:50pm at Villa Viscaya. There was a rain delay at noon for 1 hour. Scene 56A was filmed but cut later. It shows Castillo getting into a fight with a protestor and arresting him, before getting the hint to Ricky Diaz. Day2, Thu 3 September, filming 10:00 am until 9:30 pm at the Cruz Estate Day 3, Fri 4 September, filming 4:30 pm until 5:13 am at the Port of Miami Day 4, Tue 8 Sept (Monday 7th was Labor Day), filming 9:30 am til 6:45 pm (first unit) at the Cruz villa and the start of boat chase. Also the park scene at Mount Sinai (is nearby) was filmed with company moving there from 2:45pm until 3:30pm. The 2nd unit with stunt team filmed the boat chase in parallel on the same day (same time). Day 5, Wed 9 September: filming 10:30 am until 12:15 am at the hospice and Pater Ernesto´s house (company moved 7:45-8:00 pm, the house is only 50m from the church). Day 6, 10 September, filming 12:30pm until 11:30pm. Scenes 104-106 were filmed but cut later. In it Ricky Diaz is still in Jail and identifies Jorge Cruz as the priest murderer. roken Day 7: Fri 11 September: filming 11am until 10:15pm at the Waldorf Towers and Penrods. The wardrobe truck was broken into and some cast and crew got a meal penalty for breaking up early. ENJOY the insights.

What a shame they cut a rare Castillo fight scene!
