Hello from Ohio

Well since this is the "Introduce yourself" thread, here goes.I got into Vice when I was growing up. I was born in 74, so I was pretty young (11 years old) when the show initially aired. I grew up watching the Dukes, Knight Rider, Airwolf, shows like that, and the next progression was Vice. My dad used to watch the show religiously, and I was right there with him. I thought it was so cool, the cars, the boats, the music, the locations. I didn't really pay much attention to the plot of the stories until later when I was older, and the show was airing in syndication. Then it became clear to me how good Vice really was, and my other childhood shows were so corny. I think I was 20 when I was catching re-runs of it, and I was pulled in by more than the cars, the boats, and all the other jazz. The stories were what kept me watching them when they aired. I live in Ohio, and one of my vacation getaways was Kelley's Island and the Lake Erie islands. Wouldn't you know it, I was camping at the State Park, which is the complete opposite side of the island, and I hear the crowd of go fast boats come in. So I go over to check them out and walk around on the dock at the Casino, low and behold what do I see sitting in one of the slips? A Wellcraft Scarab 38 KV with a Miami Vice paint job! I thought that was the coolest thing ever until I realized this was a special boat. It was an original! I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy who owned it, but I seen it again over at Put-In Bay, and running past Catawba a couple other times. At first I thought that it was a hoax, that it wasn't the real deal until I ran across the site for the camera platform boat later on. So now a few years later, I was in my local Wal-Mart, and seen the Vice DVD's in the bargain bin for 10 bucks a set. I picked them all up, and re-watched them all again. I forgot how really great this show was, and how good the stories were. I bought the new movie on DVD, and while it was good, it just didn't have the same feel as our beloved show. Maybe I'm biased, because to me, Sonny and Rico will always be DJ and PMT, and Castillio will always be EJO. But something was missing from that movie.Anyway, presently I'm building a Knight Rider replica car, and would like to find a Daytona replica after that. Hey, I'm a child of the 80's, and would like to have a couple toys from the 80's as well! LOL! Besides, having a Scarab would put me in the poorhouse trying to keep it's hungry butt in fuel. LOL!Ripper

Actually I'm building KARR. There's just too many black T/A's running around! LOL! Hopefully by the summer I'll have the car in paint. I just got the scanner in the mail the other day, and some of the dash parts the week before.Ripper

Oh I spent the better part of a day going through the Daytona thread thats over 150 pages. TONS of good stuff on this site!

There is a lot of info in there and I have gotten a pretty good education from the members in there on all things Daytona. Interesting stuff on the model used to show the exploding Daytona. I had always thought they used a body shell and tires for that but a model would make more sense.

Yeah, I got schooled on the use of minis when I talked to Ron Martinez at a Knight Rider event three or four years ago.
