Watched this episode last nite - such a fine episode from February 1988 . Of course Tony Plana who plays Guerrero  steals the show and good work from DJs good friend in the teaser Michael Des Barres ( Dubois)  - but great direction from Bill Duke ( his first and only episode directed of Miami Vice ) and great locations.

This location was seen a few times in the teaser and opening credits:done:

A late 2017  view ( south) of the Rickenbacker Cswy, Brickell and Downtown - a similar view we see in this fine 1988 episode.:hippie:

Production rundown of this great episode, one of the best in my opinion.

Filmed 18-26 January 1988, in seven days+1 day 2nd unit for the final boat scenes (stunt team)

One planned location was never used (the car rental, scene 25) and the dialogue filmed in OCB (scene 20) instead.

There is no indication in the dailies as to where the Eccles AFB scenes were filmed. We know that the exterior (army jeep scenes filmed at Opa Locka Airport). Thus, I assume these scenes (without main actors) were filmed by 2nd unit long after the principal photography was completed and just before episode aired.

The lost location is still there, Prestige Imports at 14800 Biscayne, a totally VICE style building erected in 1986.

Day3, Wed 20 January, filmed 10:47am until 5:58pm at Chalks, Watson Island (seaplane port scenes, all the boat chase scenes were filmed on Jan21 by second unit/stunt team off the base at Marine Stadium Key Biscayne, the scenes 100+ were planned originally different, with Crockett firing a flare gun to force Guerrero to crash, see script below and 2nd unit report below, a plane door was damaged by a filming boat that was pushed into it by waves and the wind).

Day4, 21 January, filming 4:17pm until 11:25pm at Flagler street (teaser scenes at the alley and on the "hooker street"), scenes 1,2,3,4 and 11 could not be completed due to rain and had to be reshoot on another day.

Day 5: Fri 22Jan, filming 1:24pm until 9:58pm at the studio. Scene 77A where Guerreo kills Stiles in a dirty alley was filmed behind the studio as well. Westside of studio, camera was positioned on roof and shot westwards, the chain link fence and the streetlight at the left side of the frame including the dirt road (other studio parts are asphalt and paved) gave it away.

As we did not have that in detail here yet:

the teaser scenes were shot on SE corner of NE 2 Ave and Flagler Street alongside the Ingraham Building and the small alley vis a vis the Ingraham that is on the southside of the Olympia Theater. In the alley scene we can see the Ingraham clearly in the background. See details below.
