Season 2 (1985/86)

After the first season, VICE became the hottest show on US TV. Accordingly, some new features were added and even more money was spent on each episode. Some episodes were heavily focused on style, therefore some critics said the show focused more on style than on storylines. Many fans rate the second season as the best of the whole series.

Die 2. Staffel (1985/86)

Nach der ersten Saison war VICE ein Top-Renner im US Fernsehen. Folglich wurden einige Neuerungen eingeführt bzw. noch mehr Geld in die Serie investiert. Manche Drehbücher wurden daher sehr stilbetont umgesetzt, daher gab es Diskussionen darüber, ob die Serie nicht mehr dem Stil huldigte als dem Inhalt. Viele Fans halten die 2. Saison für die beste.

Specifics of the second season:

• New equipment for Crockett/Tubbs (new Scarab Boat, new weapons, etc.)
• Whole look of the show including colours, fashion and camerizing is driven to perfection. The crew even painted buildings to fit to the scenes and repainted them after shooting.
• The number of gunfights decreases, but the intensity increases (longer fights, more bombastic realization), lots of FX, car stunts and explosions
• The hype brings the coolest and most unusual guest stars in a TV show (Collins, Phil; Davis, Miles; Cohen, Leonard; Zappa, Frank...)

Charakteristisch für die 2. Staffel:

• Neue Uhren für Crockett & Tubbs, neues Boot (Scarab), neue Waffen
• Kleidung und gesamter Look wird perfektioniert, das betrifft vor allem die Farbgestaltung. Selbst Hintergründe werden umgefärbt, damit sie zur Szene passen
• Die Schiessereien werden etwas weniger, dafür aber länger und bombastischer
• Die Quote an Superstars als Gast-Stars wird atemberaubend (Phil Collins, Miles Davis, Leonard Cohen, Frank Zappa, ...)
• Sehr pastelllastige Farbtöne. Rosa, Blassblau, Weiss dominieren.
