Is anybody else here a gamer or a fan of Grand Theft Auto and is looking forward to the latest entry in the franchise coming September 17th? I personally am a huge die hard fan of Grand Theft Auto and am really looking forward to V.

It shoulda been in Vice City again. Just think of the possibilities. Maybe Gta6 will be Vice City but that probably won't be released for another five years. Missed opportunity, Rockstar

Missed opportunity' date=' Rockstar[/quote']Yeah, it's a shame they didn't. I don't think we've had any games this current gen set in Miami but I get why they went with Los Angeles again, the fans wanted another San Andreas after GTA IV.

I'm half looking forward to it and half dredding it given how obnoxious there sense of humor has been getting with the latter GTA games, as ever since San Andreas the gloves have been off in that regard and they've been hitting us over the head with it ever since. From stupid names for the cars to downright creepy or annoying humor on the radio stations such as the kind of stuff the radio DJ said during Booker T and the MG's Green Onions at 2:35

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFueVVYQjX4

I cant tell you how many times I've thought to myself shut up and play the music or dont yap over the song you idiot, your running the moment as I'm thinking back to American graffiti when I hear that song
and then I hear him yapping over it, ruining it. they did do this a little bit with crockett's theme too but not enough to ruin it as wellhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfbSTR48 o50remove the space between the 8 and the Obottom line a good DJ never talks over the very start or the very end of a song, unless he's saying what the song was then its kosher as long as its not done in an Obnoxious way. and I'm dreading what kind of potshots there going to take at people like me given my chosen hobby as well I already saw a glimpse of it here at 4:30

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCrtf0zhgKQ

as in this kind of game, reality and fiction or any reference to it should just frankly not be in the game or atleast in a very reduced status, as its in bad taste and its the kind of thing that angers you and breaks your immersion and fun at the same time.as its downright disrespectful to draw attention to that kind of thing and make a joke of it without knowing anything about it or saying anything meaningful about it, and I think that is part of the reason why honestly alot of gamers are probably looking far more towards the saints row series, which seems more in the spirit of the early ones and doesnt give a damn about any of that or making a commentary on modern life. I mean after all if I wanna be preached at ill go see a preacher, just leave me alone and leave me to my fun please, dont break me down with reminders of reality in my games, just like I dont want reminders of it in my star trek either. hell why do you think I'm so much a fan of TOS, TMP and TNG and some DS9 yet not really Voyager or enterprise, as it takes me back to a time where we didn't care about all this modern crap. But for the positives the DB5 from GTA London is back and you can actually bulletproof the cars now which was confirmed in a preview on gtagaming, or select parts for usage in the missions as a tool to aid you and maybe even fully deck it out like the bond car. plus I doubt I'm going to be getting angry at the DJ of what is probably electroshock San Andreas, given its going to be the musician I took this name from and Michale is well........ its gotta be Tommy, there's too many hints to say otherwise. From the style of his clothing, to a bank robbing background, his bank robbing mask from the mission "The Job" to his age in the early trailers where he looked to be in his early 60's which fits in with the time frame since the 1980's where he was in his mid to late 30'sit just keeps popping up on my radar as that's gotta be Tommy, everything he says I can honestly imagine him saying and well all he needs to do next is say prick a few more times and bam! that seals itits him.and well it seems like the grove street guy is a reflection of what I thought of Carl Johnson really, plus the other guy just looks like good old crazy fun.

Huge Die Hard and GTA:Vice City fan here to!:cool:I also agree with Tommy Vercetti that Rockstar missed a huge opportunity on a so little explored world of Vice City.they made VC in style of the 80s and it was a blast and it still is till this day,80s never get out of style!played Vice City a gazillion times and I will keep it playing because its an awesome game:clap:

Looks like there's plenty of Heat references in Gta5.the bank job, ramming the armoured van.The protagonist has whiney kids? Wtf? They've gone way too far with this making the protagonist more complex. It was better when it was just a badass criminal shooting his way to the top of the criminal hierarchy a la Scarface and the Burnett trilogy. That's why they never topped Vice City IMO.

Indeed Tommy, simplicity is key in making a fun game. That is probably another reason why I'm not that hot about GTA 5.and also think about how much time that adds to the development time of the game as well? after all it took them a year to do vice after GTA 3, then 2 years after vice, then 4, now 5under that same logic its going to take them 7 years to do GTA 6plus multiple protagonists have been done before in the same era as GTA 3, it was done in the Getaway series namely which has fallen by the wayside after a bad sequel and the studio fell apart but it had been done before. and I am worried about what kind of sitcom like humor having two annoying kids is going to bring along with a cheating wife. how sad is that parody is becoming reality.... they probably would do a sitcom like that called My dad was a gangster too. hell I think they DID do that at one point with a member of the Gotti family

After seeing those kids I decided not to pick this game up on Day 1 and just wait until some sufficient reviews come out for it and maybe some footage if Rockstar doesn't block them on YouTube like they did with IV. I have a feeling Rockstar is really going to push the family angle a bit hard with missions escorting those heathens around town, getting them out of jams and worst of all, being bugged to do side activities like bowling (yoga has been confirmed, BTW ... I'm not joking).

Yoga.... yoga, god damn yoga has been confirmed for the game? good god lol5 years for yoga, why would you want to use a controller to perform yoga in a video game to begin with? you dont even get fit from seeing them do it lolI can see it for a cutscene.. but for the player to perform, this is starting to sound like another San Andreas.also there is a streaming website out there that is used for videogame streaming now called Twitch tv that you could check out for GTA 5 footage when the game hits.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got some new information on the GTA 5 soundtrack, and it turns out both Don and Phil are in ithttp://www.gtagaming.com/namely that of I dont care anymore from the episode with Badass Bruce Willis in it and Heartbeat, plus some other 80's tracks. FYI its the first two news posts as of 8/25/13, noted as it doesnt look like they archive the news on this websiteand it makes me wonder if Dan Houser prepared himself for gta 5 and the bringing back of a Vercetti like person by revisiting miami vice again, of which my friend told me he, Dan Houser, had actually watched and marathoned all of the first 3 seasons before they even started work on vice city. hell I think the Phil collins song from Magnum PI was in GTA 4 toothe song Mama by him

which is about him seeking a prostitute I was told, used in the episode death and taxes.so he's pretty much a confirmed Vice and Magnum fan I would suspect. and the stevie wonder song used in one of the first trailers was actually used in Die hard too

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB-duhPR0H0

so that in of itself is another 80's reference, it was something one of the commentors said on the video when that came out, I didnt believe it at first but he was right it was used in the limo scene in the parking lot where the kid is just chilling in the thing and then he finally notices via a tv broadcast that something is amiss to say the least at that point. also I swear that I heard Crockett's theme, a remix or different version of it being used in the new Saints Row 4 game recently, namely on the ship you get in the game, in the lounge.and I came across these two awhile back as well that I thought were worth bringing up for those who have never heard themhmph who said vice and the 80's are dead lol

Been a fan of the series ever since the first installment came out, but I don't consider myself a die hard fan. Gonna pick up my copy at some point, although I'm not really buying in to the hype at this point. I'm going to reserve my judgement until I get my hands on the game and have actually played it. And to be honest, I'm kinda iffy if they should have taken a chance they with Vice City here. I think the developers are afraid to touch that iconic scene and era, like they should. On the other hand, 80s still being trendy, it might have been a good idea to deliver a game that would appeal to the masses and old fans of, say, GTA:VC and have the game take place in Vice City. With the effort they have been putting in to the new game they could have pulled a masterpiece with VC themed game.

I saw the radio station listing before they were pulled, I'm glad they are including a few '80's songs in the game and I can tell a few were picked as nods to fans of Miami Vice. Still, I wanted to warn forum members here interested in the game about some of the leaked info. You might want to be extra careful sorting through the leaked spoilers as not only did the audio files for the radio stations get out but so did audio for some cutscenes (including some pivotal moments and a few huge plot twists) and even audio to one of the endings is reported to be circulating the internet. To be honest I've read up on some of the spoilers including the reported ending and while I say some of it was very predictable just from watching the trailers for the game there are a few things I didn't expect. Be very careful when searching for GTA V info as many people are running loose spoiling what they've found on those leaked audio files. It's especially bad on YouTube as that place doesn't really have much policing of their comments section.

Well said Agent 47 and Yeah I heard of that too, hell Twitch.tv said that they had a few people apparently trying to stream it right now since it's been leaked. and that they WILL shut them down if they are caught and I believe permanently ban them too.and Jimmy I agree, I was talking with someone on a twitch tv gaming chat stream about gta 5 and he made some points that kind of deflated the hype for me too. namely that of that the leads all seem like parodies of the previous protagonists rigged up to apeal to a mass market. and I kind of figure that's where Michale's kid fits into this.but the inclusion of the music here kinda rebuilt my interests in it, but after seeing what they did with Saint's Row 4 with much less tech, money and more filler, I gotta honestly say the saints row series seems like it was rigged up in the spirit of the old GTA's where fun was the focus. and the developers made it for themselves and their fans and not for the masses. after all it would explain the change in the humor, and why while vice city had some subtitle hints of grossout humor it never bothered me like SA, Plus hell I laughed far more watching SR 4 here than I ever did while playing GTA 4 http://www.youtube.com/user/Hathur99/videos?view=0but regardless of that I am curious to see how it all plays out with GTA 5, but I'm thinking of holding off on it till the PS4 hits on november the 17th and then getting it when the next gen version comes out about two or three months latter.

I need to mention first, that I have only played Vice City and San Andreas yet. Both games seem to rely heavily on nostalgia, so the soundtrack need to be from that era, that is the early to mid 80s and the early 90s, respectively. I don't know who's responsible for the soundtrack of the fourth and fifth installment of the series, but in both Vice City and San Andreas I noticed the name "Heinz Henn" in the credits. I wouldn't call this guy a big celebrity in Germany, but he's known from his work in the jury of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" ("Germany's search for the superstar" - yeah, I know^^"), which is the German equivalent to American Idol, or UK Idol. That's why he's known, and that's also why I recognized this name. The interesting part of it is, that Heinz Henn worked in management for major music companies like Capitol, EMI and BMG from the late 70s to the late 90s. In the 2000s, he worked for Take Two Interactive as a soundtrack supervisor for a couple of years, and that's why he was involved the creation of those virtual radio stations in the game. Although Henn doesn't seem to work for Rockstar anymore, I expect them to use people from the music industry to compile those soundtrack. Nothing happens coincidentally, when it comes to the soundtracks of this series, imho, and there seems to be consistency in their approach, so I almost expect something "vicy" in it, although they don't use a retro theme for the games since GTA IV. I really liked this retro-approach, though, whether it was Vice and Scarface in Vice City, or Menace II Society, Blood in - Blood out and Boyz in the Hood in San Andreas. Loads of references to those movies and eras. At least they haven't lost their sense of humour - an ad selling "Pißwasser" at the bar in the Youtube-clip above - that's great. In Germany, beers which are not that rich in flavour are called "Pisswasser" - stuff that's rather watery, doesn't make you drunk, but makes you pee a lot.

Well, how interesting according to the soundtrack of GTA V, the song Heartbeat by Don Johnson will be in the game, that's an amazing turn up. I can't wait to hear it in the game, I truly love this song so much. I'm going to drive a White Cheetah (games version of the Ferrari) along the side of the beach. So I can prepare for when it comes on the radio. :)And thank you for the tip Agent 47, I will have to be careful of those spoilers, I have waited for this game for a long time. I don't want no spoilers

lol I used to do the same in San Andreas, the real bummer about that though is that the Vice City stinger was ACTUALLY in the game. They just replaced it with the RX7 lookalike towards the end of development. the ZX 350 I believeand save for the rims it basically looked like the VCS stinger, FYI I found this out on the gta wiki awhile back while looking through the cut content sections and there has been alot of great stuff that should have never been cut from the games such as your hideout upgrading as you progressed in the game and got more money. and that you could only change the body color of the sports cars in the game, yet you could change both the interior and the exterior of the lowriders. as you gotta get the contrast right for it to look right. But on the positives they did have some awesome music stations in GTA 4 such as the journeythat featured previously unknown to the american concience music like this on it
and I'm kind of wondering if there's going to be anything like that and this
in the new gamehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_IV_soundtrackor this even
but they'd better have powerglove in there somewhere after there recent success with the far cry 3 blood dragon soundtrack as a starting point lol

It would have been funnier if instead of having some steroid using guy play him it was a Mr Rogers/Flanders knock offwhere he yells Hidey Ho neighborino! now die you vietcong bastards! now that would be funny, and then just change the name to something less obvious, like Mr Drebin's Neighborhood a what if kind of sense of humor basically, not unlike what the Nostalgia critic talked about herehttp://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nc-is-parody-dead-6583177hell I would think it would be funnier if instead of pisswasser it was called just stinky colored colored water, I mean think about how funny it would be to have Niko ask a bar tender for that in gta 4or even a Power ranges knockoff called a power bangers movie, which is actually accidentally what I thought this said when I was looking for the above video!http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nostalgia-critic-turbo-a-power-rangers-movie-6608235a power bangers movie, wait what?!not make it parody reality really, as we already get enough of that as it is if you ever watch the news over here as the stupidest things of all make the news constantly.especially tabloid news about who's banging who, or who gained 20 pounds at the checkout at the CVS, where I just silently think to myself how many tree's died to print that paper, the very tree's that make oxygen to allow you to live in that smog filled LA area. after all its supposed to be an escape from reality, not an enforcement or a reminder of that as that breaks immersion especially with the jokes about sexual humor and tabliod like humor that seem like its due to make a return in gta 5. hell one of the most notable breakings caused by the distracting sexual humor of that was right after what Martenze said after playing crockett's theme on emotion in the original vice cityas that makes me just wanna act like hey My Name is Kavinsky and this is between ya'll just like the Barkeep said in Pulp Fiction once they talked about vincent going on a date with Mia but you cant help it or escape it as its build into the game and rigged up to focus in on it for the joke. and I found that in San Andreas and Vice City stories that humor they used on the radio was VERY distracting and ruined the immersion and the enjoyment of the music as everytime the song plays, the same jokes playso if you didnt like the joke, it just serves to annoy you further, and if you do it just wears out the the jokeso for those kind of games it seems like the best approach is the Saints Row 4 Approach, just have them say the name of the track, make small commentary on it and just play the music.and for an example of humor that comes out of nowhere here are a few so you can see where I'm coming from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXFLakNYXywat 1:08
and they talk about it in what works about this movie here, which was the humor and scenes that just played with the audiences expectationshttp://blip.tv/the-cinema-snob/midnight-screenings-we-re-the-millers-6626429after all the best kind of joke, is the joke you don't see coming, the punchline.although the San Andreas jokes about the other broadcasters we're very in tune of what I would expect from a radio DJ and what I know about young music fans who dont know any better. after all life is too short to listen to one kind of music.

Thing is, before GTA I didn't even know what a "Dirty Sanchez" was. OK - sometimes this kind of humour is a little bit too over the top, and it does get blunt at times. I've often thought, that the whole GTA-universe ist somehow a cynical version of what Europeans think the US were. It relies heavily on clichés you can only emphasize when you develop a really blurred point-of-view from outside the US. Maybe it's even uniquely british in its approach. I don't know if you ever were into comic books and graphic novels, but I see a lot of similarities between Garth Ennis' comic book series Preacher and GTA. I really think it's a very disturbing and distorted view on America, spiced up with cultural references from movies, TV and other sources.

Don Johnson - HeartbeatPhil Collins - I don't Care anymoreHeartbeat is an odd choice for grand theft auto, most kids probably don't even know who don johnson is..and admittedly it's a cheesy song..It's gonna be hilarious. All of Phil's big hits have been played on GTA by now, It's a great song but I've overplayed it on ITunes before i even knew it was going to be in the game ..They should of had a genesis song too. Mama was perfect for GTAIV..

Useless post # 3' date='112 from Matt5[/quote']That made me chuckle, sorry matt..
