P.S. As I am from Austria, I never understood why they never used a Glock, which would have been a perfect weapon for our heroes as it is very light and precise and nowadays used by many law enforcement agencies. From today´s standard, I would recommend them a Beretta APX, which is as good as the Glock but much cheaper and a good choice for special forces and law enforcement due to its features (semi-automatic, good grips on the slide, big magazine).

Vice was the first show to feature a Glock as I recall, but at the time it was filmed the Glock hadn't been accepted by the US law enforcement community. It wasn't even imported in serious numbers until 1986 (yes, I know that coincides with the first part of Vice, but it also means the Glock was new and unproven to many at the time). Sonny's SIG from the pilot would actually have been a more logical choice given the time period. That and it was .45 instead of 9mm, which was something they seemed to want with Sonny's character.

There's also another reason: Glocks are dull. Face it...they're boring visually and for a show like Vice that's a kiss of death. The SIG is also kinda dull to look at (though not as much as the Glock), whereas the Bren 10 and later Smiths are not.

And if we're updating Vice, you'd possibly see them (or at least Crockett) carrying a Kimber or other specialized .45 platform. Quite a few SWAT teams still carry semi-custom .45s, and LAPD's SIS was carrying S&W 4506s until not too long back if I recall correctly.

I agree. That´s an argument - but exactly for that reason I favor the Beretta APX now which has a distinctive and original look, but is also not American of course which would have been a crucial argument for producers for weapon choices as other stuff like the Ferrari and the clothes were Italian made already...

So as I’m a Glock fan, I will disagree with the Glocks are dull argument. I mean for me personally, I don’t find the Glock 34 customized by Taran Tactical too dull. Looks like about $2,300.00 bucks worth of beauty to me. :p

a bit - but you know, 300$ from 12 clients its like what, 25$ each.

Yep, and for a “street hooker” that looks like that????? I don’t think so. Maybe if she was an escort girl starting at a thousand a night maybe.

I’d have paid the $660 just to go 12 times! Of course that might take me some time. :)

Not a stock Glock, though, is it? And from a Vice perspective the stock Glock is deadly dull. It'd be like having Sonny drive a tan Volvo. Yeah, it may be boxy and good, but it ain't the Ferrari, is it?

From a tactical standpoint, stainless/nickel-plated pistols are no good.  I agree with the above comment though about using them for a flashy tv show.  Sonny just wouldn't have quite the flash if he pulled out a Glock from his shoulder holster.

I watched this last night and it's one of the best of S4 in my opinion. I liked the plot and it had all you can expect from a good MV episode. Ernesto was one of the best villains of S4 up there with Frank Mosca. I'd give it a solid 8. I liked the soundtrack, especially 'Ernesto theme' by Jan Hammer and John Petersen, Gene Loves Jezebel songs and breakaway by the 'Big pig' (I added those songs to my tidal library/playlist).

On a negative note,The reused stock footage and bad montage for the boat chase at the end unfortunately ruined it a bit.

But she was a lure for a blackmail scam. So!

Great episode all the way round. The slow reveal rather than shooting the dirty DEA man...

I didn’t necessarily think this one was that good in the past...but I really kind of like it now. It’s not really a memorable one, but still pretty cool (especially at this point in the show & for this season).

The action is pretty awesome, and the beginning was wild enough to draw you in. The illegal weapons, political corruption, assassination, the “baseballs” themselves, and plot overall were definitely intriguing.

The pastels and fashion were back in this episode, too...very reminiscent of Season 2, and that was another positive aspect to this one. The music was pretty cool too, with Running on the Rocks by Shriekback, Breakaway by Big Pig, Pump Up the Volume by M/A/R/R/S, etc... Of course Jan Hammer's themes are always awesome! :radio:

The ending boat chase (besides using old stock footage that was sped up to look like a "fast" chase) was pretty cool...again, good action! I originally gave this one a 7, but if I could I’d probably bump it up to a 7.5-8.

If season 4 had more episodes like this it would have been a success.

This is the type of episode that wouldn't look out of place in season 2. Proves that it could have been possible but Wolf was more focused in either wacky or boring political material.

"Rising Sun of Death" is another one that headed in the right direction.

I think I like this one better, but yeah “Rising Sun” was good, too!

Bill Duke is clearly a big fan of the 1 and 2 seasons and obviously understands the spirit of the show by creating this.

Had a little break from Season 4 and returned to watch this one. Cracking episode, at least a 9.

Standoff, plane hostage, boat chase and explosion to finish. Can’t go wrong! Although I didn’t know speedboats were quite that explosive!

An appearance of the Ebel if I’m not mistaken. Love that watch.

Guerrero reminded me of the loathsome Tony Amato from "No Exit": bad guys who are immune because they are useful to American interests.  A classic espionage trope!

It's nice seeing Lisa Marie looking fairly normal.  I'm more used to her in Tim Burton movies where he has her dressed up as Vampira, a Martian, or an ape. :o

I can see why some people think Baseballs of Death has a season 1 or 2 feel, but it still lacks the sparkle of those earlier shows.

(I actually assumed from its title that this would be another "screwball" episode like The Cows of October or The Big Thaw.  Maybe a baseball or softball league playoff game between the OCB and the DEA?  Admittedly, the thought of Trudy and Gina in softball attire and short shorts would be a plus for that scenario. )

My review from last year.

It's funny seeing Michael Des Barres back, but not as himself singing for the Power Station, but in an acting role.  And after the dull "Vote of Confidence," it's nice to get back on those neon-lit dirty streets, out on the water for speedboat chases, and inside those dim nightclubs.  I demand visual, emotion-walloping grand operas from MV, not petty office and courtroom dramas.

Interesting look at surveilling car phone frequencies, something that came into being around this time.

This will probably make my top 10 of the season list.
