Administrators Ell.a Posted February 2, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted February 2, 2014 John Diehl as Larry Zito and his partner Stan Switek (Michael Talbott) are an inseparable duo which often puts its foot in its mouth, thus they add some comical spots to the show. John Diehl left Miami Vice in season 3 at his own request. He caused this by mentioning that he wanted to do some other projects - this was obviously permitted by his current Miami Vice contract. In a conversation [mv.org] he said that he was tired sitting deedless in his house in Miami - just waiting for a phone call from the set when he was needed in a scene. furthermore, he added, the show would give him too little room to develop his character. Larry Zito dies at the end of the episode Down for the Count Part 1. Producer Micahel Mann renounced to substitute Zito for a new character. Als Grund für sein Ausscheiden gab er an, sich auch anderen Projekten zuwenden zu wollen, was offenbar der Vertrag mit der Serie nicht erlaubte. In einem Gespräch [mv.org] meinte er, dass er es einfach satt gehabt hätte, untätig in seinem Haus in Miami rumzusitzen zu müssen und am Telefon zu warten, ob man ihn in der aktuellen Folge eventuell brauchte. Außerdem gäbe ihm die Serie zu wenig Raum, seine Rolle weiter zu entwickeln. Larry Zito stirbt am Ende der Folge Am Boden Teil 1.
