airtommy
Early in the ep C&T go to the crime scene to arrest the trespasser Trahn. We know this location is on Miami Ave and it's long gone. I was just looking at this on Google Streetview and noticed something. When C&T drive up: There has been a massive frenzy of construction in this area. Most people would be excited to see that the light brown Associated Photo building is still there (Associated has moved to a different building). Not me, I was more excited to see that the concrete wall is still there! I guess I'm different like that. Tom
Still looking for Espinosa‘s house. Only unknown location left. There is a blue-yellow pattern on the walls throughout the property but that is hardly visible from satellite or street view. Mostly interior shots, no unusual features as clues to view from above, no filming outside the entrance and no house number visible. For sure it’s not 2345 Floridian as Crockett stated the address but maybe at least the number is correct.

For sure it’s not 2345 Floridian as Crockett stated the address but maybe at least the number is correct. I studied this last night. There are actually a bunch of unusual features: Wooden fence with double gate Heavy tree cover - you can see it when they enter through the gate and beyond the pool as they walk to the house The driveway is unpaved, probably gravel. The pool is in the front yard. That's very unusual. There is a curved white wall beyond the pool. There is a slanted roof on one side of the front yard. I found a great false lead: 2345 Meridian in Miami Beach has a front pool. wooden fence/gate, and a slanted roof garage. But for various reasons, I've ruled it out. No tree cover on historicaerials.com, gate is single instead of double, pool shape is wrong, garage roof shape is wrong. Unfortunately, there are no interior photos in real estate listings. I'm pretty sure this house is wrong. Unpaved driveways and heavy tree cover usually mean Coconut Grove. Our biggest problem is going to be the tree cover blocking our view of the house and pool. I see now - on your link a lot of that area is so unrecognisable since 1986. I see Big Fish was located on SW Miami Avenue and this shot was filmed on Miami Avenue - looking to the Associated Photo Miami Avenue entrance as below (as C&T come from south of the bridge turning in by the wall) . For some reason I always thought this was filmed on the grounds of Big Fish (probrably due to seeing Associated Photo in the shot) so this is a real treat for me. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/55+SW+Miami+Avenue+Rd,+Miami,+FL+33130,+USA/@25.7681353,-80.1939205,3a,75y,226.47h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s2RXF21QOyfbpBKTPioi1Xg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x88d9b684b5dff8a7:0xa7fd05c2351ddf4a!8m2!3d25.7684952!4d-80.1943904?hl=en Edited September 13, 2018 by Matt5

Tom
Unknown location: Espinoza house. Clues: high wall, no direct neighbor (what looked liked a roof nearby is an umbrella), unique irregular pool size, a fountain in the frontyard, roof from main building to entrance door, double L-shaped stones next to entrance, Side building, lots of glassbrick walls and a unique appearance plus blue yellow pattern inside and outside. Most of that should be visible from above. Edited June 7, 2020 by Tom
Tom
Just a sidenote: I have found two houses in Coconut Grove within two blocks (Crawford Ave and Coco Grove Ave) that have the pool on the street side and a curved high white fence on a street corner. Although both are a wash: it seems that Coconut Grove could be the right place to look as I haven´t seen such a unique house pattern anywhere else so far...
Tom
Coconut Grove it is! An easy 5 minute find. Why haven´t we found that earlier? This time no special proof needed, as it is a clear case! @miamijimf @daytona365 @Matt5 @airtommy UNKNOWN LOCATION FOUND: THE ESPINOZA HOUSE 2800 Emathla Street, Coconut Grove There are lots of good realtor pictures that speak for themselves to prove that this was the location. Built in 1986, just opened before filming. All matches up, the unique pool shape with the small island, the round white fence on the corner with the vegetation behind. The triangle roof with hole in it, the glass brick walls, the wooden door (ugly brown now instead of white), etc... House was obviously refurnished with ugly brown kitchen replacing a white one and the yellow-blue tile pattern removed that we see in the episode. ENJOY! P.S. I think we have found all locations of this episode now. @C Glide has to update 20+ episodes on his site for newly found locations if my count is correct 3

Tom
Thanks guys! I would like to add the floor plan of the Espinoza house, if someone wants to understand where exactly they filmed inside the house. The kitchen is obvious, but the long isle with glass brick wall seen in the episode is on the right of the main floor in this plan for example. The living room is heading to the yard/pool/street side. That terrace door near the kitchen and looking out to the pool is where the guard was killed by the Savage from behind. Red and purple X mark the Savage attack sites (in master bedroom the green X marks the filming for Espinoza). The attack on Castillo has been filmed on two locations inside the house. Before, we see the Savage waiting on the corner of the long isle for Castillo, then it cuts and then he attacks Castillo a few yards further on another corner. Now, the Savage is waiting in the gym room on Castillo. Thus, I have marked two X´s in the map. By the way, they made Castillo look like an unprofessional fool in this attack scene. Castillo is not taking care of the only "dead" (uncovered) angle that is closest/most dangerous to him and this is exactly where the Savage hides. Not even a rookie in police school would make this mistake! As we have the floor plan and so many realtor pics: Maybe @C Glide wants to add a more detailed interior scrutiny of the filmed scenes (e.g. where Castillo was stabbed)when he finally updates this episode on his location page? P.S. if that floor plan is correct, the scene where VanTrengh kills Coleman in his room could not possibly be filmed inside the Espinoza house. The layout of the VanTrengh-Coleman scene simply does not match with any room constellation inside. I bet it was a studio set then. Google Street View link: https://goo.gl/maps/RfrdLAHjrG22 I just found some rare pictures of that lost crime scene house via Google Earth that I wanted to save here before they are gone. They were taken by a guest inside the courtyard of Tobacco Road, before it sadly closed a few years ago. This pictures show the exact same crime scene house that C&T enter to find Van Trengh, just taken from the other side (C&T enter from the north side where the wall still is stands and the ex-Associated Photo building still exists (it houses a physical therapist now), the photo was taken from the south side. The comparison with the episode shows that this house is the same with the same color, wooden planks, windows and stairways. The exact address was 622 S. Miami Ave. The huge tree next to the wall was not there in late 1986 and has grown since that big in tropical climate.
Tom
not much news here on this daily production report of 9th December 1986 either. But what we learn: the crime scene in the teaser (Scene 3,4,5) was a studio set, as well as the crime scene later with the typical colored wall spots on. We assumed that, but now we have proof. this leaves the scene where Castillo arrives in Saigon at the first crime scene as unknown (no studio), and it is unlikely that it was filmed in the S. Miami Ave/SE6 Street area as well, as there is no indication of that scene (sc#1-2) in the advance for the next day Wed 10 Dec 1986 when they filmed at the S. Miami Ave bridge and the arrival of C&T at the crime scene house. With movie magic they cut from the real location (Castillo climbing up the stairs/walking down an aisle) to the studio set (crime scene with Trangh waiting), when Castillo enters the room with a Viatnamese cop guarding the door. they cut a scene with the team and Castillo at a coffee shop around 650 Ocean Drive (scene #84A). Same location area as the final scene (scene#137A) on the beach. The address of the final scene (650 Ocean Drive) is wrong on the location sheet. The final product shows that it was actually filmed around 8th Street beach, as CGlide correctly stated on his location website and not between 6th and 7th as the sheet indicates. The pink clock tower building at Washington&8 Street is a clear proof and it is still there. ENJOY! Another episode with sheets will come soon.
