I think, it's from the episode "Sons and Lovers," when Tubbs tells Crockett he has a son.

Thanks so much. Now it makes sense!!

It's so beautiful the partnership ;(

Yes. The show really emphasized this and it worked in their favor. One of the all-time-favorite partnerships of all times in the TV world!

Wish the critics saw it this way. It's up to us to build up the hype!!

The critics, like many others, were blinded by the sunglasses and the glitz. In that Vice was a victim of its own success visually.

Yes, I agree! The glitz-like the sun glasses, the clothes, the rolex watches. The show needed those props, but made it difficult to take the show's message seriously.

The thing is it was the critics job to figure it out, its the main gift they should have. Its like perceiving a film like "Thief" and just saying it was a cool action film but in reality it had a lot of depth and meaning to it. If they couldn't see past the style then they weren't very good at their job.

They also tend to see what they're sold. Vice sold the glitz, they saw the glitz. Hill Street Blues sold police drama, so that's what they saw. And If you read some of the later 'analysis' of Vice you'd see most of them stink at their jobs.
