Robbie C. 3,194 Posted July 9, 2019 Report Share The critics, like many others, were blinded by the sunglasses and the glitz. In that Vice was a victim of its own success visually. Quote Link to comment

The show needed those props, but made it difficult to take the show's message seriously. Quote Link to comment
Glades 560 Posted July 9, 2019 Report Share Yes, MV is not style over sunbstance but style AND substance! 1 Quote Link to comment

Its like perceiving a film like "Thief" and just saying it was a cool action film but in reality it had a lot of depth and meaning to it. If they couldn't see past the style then they weren't very good at their job. 2 Quote Link to comment
Robbie C. 3,194 Posted July 10, 2019 Report Share They also tend to see what they're sold. Vice sold the glitz, they saw the glitz. Hill Street Blues sold police drama, so that's what they saw. And If you read some of the later 'analysis' of Vice you'd see most of them stink at their jobs. 1 Quote Link to comment
