  4. Hi everyone, my Name is Jürgen, i am 42 years old and i live in Nürnberg, Germany. How did i come to Miami Vice? Well i guess, it all started when i was 8 or 9 years old. My Parents let me watch TV with them sometimes. And on one of these Evenings there was this Show called Miami Vice running. I liked it then, it was a Police Show, it had cool Cars and nice dialogues. I did not think that much about it over the years and almost forgot about it, but then i bought the Box off Amazon and started watching it again. I mean i was always a TV-Show Fan and most Stuff i like is from the 80's Era. So it was only natural that Miami Vice would be on the list. The Reason for Buying the Box was a rather odd one. I own a DeLorean since nearly 20 years, and part of owning the car is being around in different DeLorean Communities on Facebook etc. And one guy came up with this short Video Clip from Miami Vice, Episode Glades. There were a few DeLoreans in the Scene when Crocket and Tubbs arrive in the Glades. And then i remembered my Childhood, and i went and bought the Box. I started watching and i thought, well i don't have a Daytona or in that case any other Ferrari, but i have an iconic 80s Car, sort of and so i started to look for old Jackets from the 80's, Trousers, Shoes that look a like in Style at least etc. Over the Time i was able to get some Clothings from a Miami Vice Clothing Collection that was around in the 80 s in Germany, i found a few Sun Glasses and Stuff and so i startet dressing like it occasionally. And well, here i am, i was on this Site actually pretty often before i decided to join because you can find a lot of Infos and visual references here. And since i don't just want to be some guy who drops by anonymous every time i decided to register myself. And so, here i am, reporting for Duty To great times.

  5. No danger of this guy being laughed at, seeing as "Stranger Things" is set in the 80's

  6. I live near Miami now and wear pastel colored polo shirts and pastel shorts all the time with white or gray slip ons and the only time I got a funny look was from 2 young guys while waiting in line at an italian store for some food, but they may not have even been looking at me. Before cutting my hair last month I was *somewhat* rockin' Don's hairstyle too. Sometimes I'll wear an off white blazer during the cooler months (especially at night) but I still haven't done the full white-on-white look (yet). I see plenty of white and pastel colored suits in department stores at the mall so I'm guessing the look didn't completely go out of style here. It is very hot and you wanna wear lighter colors.

  7. There's been a couple she hasn't been happy with. Not every vid is on this thread either. I think she's grading them in terms of the show's standards and not general tv standards so she's a little generous. Her sensibilities are also a little different probably because she's been close to the business.

  8. I lived in the penthouse of Birch Tower, the cream colored building with pastel green stripe up the center from 2001 to 2006. My base of operations for a lot of my Vice location hunting. Cheers.

  9. Yes there was a big change in crew from the end of season 2 - Mann wanted to darken the show - I’m not sure why but they must have asked him to come back to direct.

  10. Yes I agree I spent some time there too and this was definately shot there - interestingly in “Fruit of the Poison Tree” they use the same cut but must have been not used for “Blood and Roses” as the car did not swerve that way around the corner as it did in “FOTPT”, unless it was recorded for “FOTPT”?. I liked the cut from “Down for the Count” (Part 2)on the Rickenbacker Cswy as they shot just before the turn onto Arthur Lamb for a short frame and we didn’t see that often in the show. ”Blood and Roses” — below from “Fruit of the Poison Tree” — “Down for the Count” (Part 2) —

  11. Good post airtommy- I spent some time last year at Turnberry Isle and couldn’t match up the teaser at all to the North or South Tower it was then by chance I noticed the scene later in “OWTBDR” - often we stumble over these things right in front of us. It was really cool they used the Ocean Club in Key Biscayne for the scenes in “GT”.

  13. Enjoy her reviews but the only good thing about this episode IMO is that it provides PMT a good vehicle to display his acting ability. Oh and it does have some good views of the Sterling Building, 927 Lincoln Road on Miami Beach.

  14. Based on the postcard Matt5 posted, the "Ocean Club" scene was filmed in the Cape Florida Room: President Richard Nixon dined at the Cape Florida Room:

  18. I think you guys all need to chill out a bit. Fashion is in the eye of the beholder as far as I'm concerned. Wear what you want and stop busting each others balls about it! Besides, like I said before, this guy started the trend in 1931!

  20. I might have to try this since I don't envision getting a cut until July. New territory for me since I have always been a once a month visit until COVID-19. My Flowbee is long gone.

  21. Peter Nelson is most well known as Brian in NBC's V miniseries and its sequel. He was the baby lizard's daddy. Also, the closing conversation with Castillo and Crockett is kind of a callback to a conversation the two had in a previous episode (I forget which one) only their roles were reversed. "I need to know what you thought." "It's not what I think, it's what I know. I know you're a good cop."

  24. Mosca gets harassed by the Feds while he's buying flowers: This was filmed near Mosca's house in Golden Beach at Loggia Beach Park. The parking lot is only accessible to neighborhood residents, so I had to park near the Lehman Causeway and walk a full mile up the road.

  25. I like this one - a current day drone shot above the Sears Tower (Pilot, “One Eyed Jack”, “One Way Ticket” and others) looking down Biscayne.

  26. A great photo from late 1975 down Biscayne - the white building to the close left is the old library which we see in the teaser “Florence Italy”.

  27. Oldest photo I have seen of Miami Beach, 1925. The Flagler monument can be seen. When first built it was also a sundial.

  28. Never had a class in photography but I would guess that professional photographers would really like this photo. It has perspective, contrast, unique color, and great subject matter. Plus it's an excellent recent shot of the Miami skyline.

  29. Came across this whilst researching this location - the old The Key Biscayne Hotel and Villas (Ocean Club in this fall 1985 episode) at 701 Ocean Drive, Key Biscayne. The pool and palm trees in the first picture is seen in the background in a few frames in the episode as our hero’s lunch with Weldon.

  30. Today I visited Turnberry Isle Marina in Aventura where they filmed a lot of Part 1. Jeremy was of course right this meeting scene was filmed at Turnberry Isle but not at the North Tower, however the exact location is just opposite in the Marina office area (where Phil pulls up to in “Phil the Shill” at the end of the drive scene with Sara). I recognised it immediately and my last visit here I looked all over the grounds in the North Tower. Really only possible to find this on the ground.

  31. Either win the lottery, or be the guy selling lottery tickets. One item on my "to do in Miami" list was to look around on foot for the exact spot Maria Rojas is confronted in Def Miami, but no dice!
