NEW LOCATION FOUND: SOLIZ HOUSE CGlide´s and my original hunch that the Soliz house must be in the Pinecrest area (due to size of garden, lack of water and distance to neighbor houses) turned out to be true. Today, I did a tour-de-force and checked all houses in that area via satellite one-by-one, looking for the unique pool layout and the unique building layout with the narrow parallel structure. It took me 1 hour to find: Result: 6070 SW 128 Street. The sat pictures (2D and 3D) below say it all.3 points

In another thread RedDragon86 said Are there any other new scenes or footage in the Bluray set that were not in the DVD set?2 points

Its one of the greatest episodes for sure, certainly in the top 10. I would put his limited presence early on down to him being new in the department. He was even more reserved to begin with. This made the Golden Triangle's episodes even more special, because he opened up about his personal life and bonded with the team. I think this was the producers intentions.2 points

I know @Ferrariman will recognize this little song! I reworked it with my current synths to send Jan a very special Happy Birthday!2 points

"Yankee Dollar" is a close favourite of mine. Sonny took Sarah's death really hard, to be honest I never seen him so emotionally charged as this in they entire series. I could really sense that he was hurting so bad inside throughout the episode. I love getting wrapped up in the emotional episodes, "Bought and Paid For" is another.2 points

Yes a scene in the Pilot, when Sonny and Gina are talking on his boat, the part when Crockett is about to go below deck and before he does looks at Elvis and says, "What are you looking at?" I found out by accident, when I watched a Jan Hammer video, it was cut on the DVD, but it's featured on the Blu-ray. Also the part about Gina reentering the bathroom was originally in the script. Here is the pilot scene: At 3:202 points

You know, I have owned the car for 32 years and I never noticed that either!!! The Ferrari emblem was originally about 3 inches higher on both cars used in the series. You can see it in some of the early episodes. I can see where those original holes were filled from under the front of the car. I guess when they moved them down, they didn't measure very well.2 points

I'll verify in the episodes and add it to the posts.2 points

As I mentioned in another topic, in the beginning of the second half of the pilot, you can faintly hear a song playing in the background as Crockett and Tubbs ascend the staircase at the Versace mansion (Leon’s apartment). Today I finally remembered to listen to the isolated soundtrack and identify the song! Here it is!!1 point

Exactly...Castillo wasn’t necessarily going to always be front-n-center like Crockett and Tubbs. Sometimes he was in more scenes of an episode and sometimes not...but that didn’t necessarily take away from the episode itself. And I agree...us learning a lot more about him personally in Golden Triangle actually “made” that/those episode/s! Phil the Shill is superb, too!! There used to be this “dirty”-realtor in my town whose name was Phil...he was known as a liar & a crook, and I always referred to him as Phil-the-Shill, off this episode, lol! Season 2 is the best season of the series, in my opinion...I can’t think of one “wrong” episode!!1 point

I also really like One Way Ticket...awesome plot & MV action, Jan Hammer had a guest-cameo, and John Heard was amazing!1 point

What scene is the bed? Gina comes back into the bathroom and says the “...because I wanted it to happen” lines on every format I own. What DVD set do you have?1 point

Sad news. Another great actor gone. He was a great actor and always excelled in his roles and he had a stellar filmography. My favourite of his is also Best Seller. Excellent movie. Too bad he wasn't in a better Vice episode as I never liked Amen...Send Money. He could've guest starred much better on Vice. He was also in Mann's 1979 TV movie The Jericho Mile. Brian was also the one that suggested Brian Cox to Mann for Manhunter so thanks for that, Brian. That was selfless of Brian because he wanted to play Dr. Leckter himself but he thought Brian Cox was even better for the role. He had worked with him on stage. Rest In Peace to a great actor. Farewell Brian. You will be missed. Wrong movie, I'm afraid. He was actually in 10 from 1979.1 point

He was a fantastic actor. Great opposite James Woods in "Best Seller," which is to me very underrated.1 point

I've been asked how I found the photo of the Park Central Hotel hallway. I went to Google Maps, searched for <Park Central Miami Beach>, clicked on the Park Central link on the map, clicked on the photo on the top left corner, that opened up a long list of photos on the left side. Those are photos posted by Google users (including the hotel owner). I scrolled through that list for a long time until I found this one. There are also pics posted on Google Maps that are revealed when you drag the Street View icon over, but in this case nothing worthwhile.1 point

Oh sad! Mark Blum, Brian Tarantina, now him! The MV guest stars circle is getting thinner and thinner each month ... I Did not know that he was already 81!1 point

I always asked myself anyway whose smart idea it was to guard a safehouse(!) - in essence a secret location that nobody in the neighborhood should be aware of - openly with an M16??? That’s tactical nonsense irrespective of done by police or military. Castillo hopefully not. PS smart move would have been to place guards inside the garden. behind the wall. Hard to be seen from outside and much harder to attack or to neutralize, especially without warning the people inside the house.1 point

I already did. Newly found locations have been piling up for months and are begging silently for updates on CGlide’s locations website!1 point

Hi @all! First I want to apologize for beeing not here for a long time. My priorities where somewhere else for the last months. But thanks to that sad Covid pandemia I have now much time to watch vice :). I watched this unfamous episode yesterday, at first I wanted to skip it but then decided to watch it, because I often skipped it over the last years. As after every episode I've seen, I visited cglide's location site. There I saw that the location for "Astrolife" is not confirmed yet. He wrote that it could be inside the "Grove Harbour Cinema", of which we saw the exterior in the teaser. Well, I don't think this was shot there, because the location where we meet James Brown looked for me like a real planetarium. I thought there can't be too much in the Miami area so I made a few investigations. Finally I found the Miami Science Museum, which got a planetarium in 1966 equipped with a rare Spitz Model B Space Transit Projector. If you search for the projector, it looks very similar to the one we see in the show. I then googled for the planetarium itself, and found these pictures and compared them to screenshots of the episode: The pictures are from this site. If you look at the surrounding of the projector and the seats I'm 100% sure that the "Astrolife" scenes where shot there. Unfortunately the Museum with the planetarium closed in 2015 and was relocated to a new site. At this time it was the last Spitz Model B STB projector still in service. It is now a no operational display at the new museum. The old museum was located at 3280 South Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida, United States. I think the buildings are still intact. I hope cglide can now update this location on his site. Greetings, Andreas1 point

This is a useful comparison - though that's the first episode, which has been fully restored. The others have a welcome improvement in detail, but not the completely different master that first one has. Also, caveat emptor, if you are buying - you may want to look at the Region Free version from Elephant in France as it's got the least problems of any outing of the series on the format so far - and the nicest encodes. Serious fans should still keep their DVDs for minor differences1 point

The only challenge I see with OWTBDR is its rather dark nature. It's great if you want to get someone used to that side of Vice, but it lacks some of the bright stuff that characterizes many episodes (especially early on). My money's still on Definitely Miami. It's also got the emotional aspects covered (potential love interest, family conflict, all that good stuff). It's just a one-stop Vice shop. Start with it, then go into OWTBDR if she's still interested. Follow it with Phil the Shill for a taste of Izzy and close out with No Exit for a preview of what the later seasons feel like.1 point

I also wish they had featured Trudy in more episodes. Maybe "Missing Hours" refers to her lack of screen time and serious character development.1 point

A great episode and updated pictures from the Colonnade Hotel featured heavily in this the 100th episode of Miami Vice. All photos are dated February and March this year and pictures by me. The room used by Tubbs and Julia as the buyer is now #201 a meeting room. I cannot confirm the later scene we see Crockett doing the deal also was #201 seems different slightly.1 point
