  1. THE MIAMI DEVICE Back in 1986, if you were male and suffered from stubble envy -- a disturbance characterized by a desire to have an always budding beard like TV star Don Johnson -- you may have wanted to pick up an electric razor that went on the market that spring, costing only $29.95 and leaving you with a 5 o'clock shadow 24 hours a day. It was called the Stubble Device. The Wahl Clipper Corp. of Sterling, Ill. made it expressly to capitalize on the sandpaper-chin look popularized by the Miami Vice sleuth. Rather than suffer the embarrassment of a clean shave, you could keep your beard fashionably semi-trimmed with the machine's handy one-to-five-day growth settings. The razor was originally called The Miami Device. But the company feared a trademark infringement lawsuit by the show's producers and -- even worse -- were afraid that Johnson could up and adopt a razor-clean look at a press agent's notice. http://tonymountain.blogspot.com/2010/12/miami-device.html

  3. I looked for FIVE years trying to find a good Daytona Spider replica. All I found was junk and finally gave up. All I can say is MAKE SURE you see/drive the car in person first before you make an offer to buy it. You'd be surprised at how poor of condition most of these cars are now in. Here is my search's link:

  6. As I mentioned in another topic, in the beginning of the second half of the pilot, you can faintly hear a song playing in the background as Crockett and Tubbs ascend the staircase at the Versace mansion (Leon’s apartment). Today I finally remembered to listen to the isolated soundtrack and identify the song! Here it is!!

  8. In the spring of 1986, an electric razor became available called the Stubble Device, that allowed users to have a beard like Don Johnson's character. Initially, it was named the Miami Device by Wahl Clipper Corp. I have seach for it, but there is nothing to find. Do anybody have this device (C&B?)confused:From CNN September 1, 1986http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/moneymag_archive/1986/09/01/83455/index.htm

  9. Hey guys, I thought you'd appreciate this. I was watching these Emmy videos on YouTube and Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men, Dharma & Greg, Big Bang Theory, etc) casually mentions that he wrote a spec script for Miami Vice during season 1 and then has a funny story about it. Considering "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" is early in the second season, maybe it took that long for the producers to go a little harder in the humor area. PS. There are also some Emmy interviews with Edward James Olmos, Dick Wolf, Thomas Carter, and Paul Michael Glaser on their Miami Vice experiences as well.

  10. Original link is dead. Updated link: I had never heard of the Miami Device, but it has been discussed here: https://miamiviceonline.com/index.php?/topic/2911-anybody-heard-about-the-miami-device-by-wahl-clipper-corp/ Does this photo look like it was taken at the Universal Miami Vice Stunt Show?

  14. Now that you're "rubbing elbows with all the distinguished people" I feel kinda blessed that you still condescent to "circulate amongst the common mangs" Jokes aside, you got more than most Vice fans could wish for, you got the dedication, the gear and the talent, so I'm really happy for you that this gets some recognition from Jan himself.

  15. I’m doing a lot of reading now to learn what I can. I can’t seem to find anything historically on this particular car. So I’m hoping some experts can chime in with insights!
